I have a Macbook Pro so it is definitely possible to install Snow Leopard OSX. I have acquired a .dmg of the installation disc. I was wondering, is it possible to install this .dmg install file through the Windows 7 OS?

OS X Mavericks :: Install Snow Leopard On New Partition

I need to install OS X 10.6 on my new MacBook (10.8.2) because older programs won't work on my new machines. I've successfully created a new partition. However when I hold down option button on startup I only see original partition and Recovery-10.8.2 but not the new partition. How on earth does one install an older version of OS X on a new machine.

OS X :: Installed Snow Leopard It Did Not Automatically Install The Updates For The Printer Drivers ?

Sep 1, 2009

For whatever reason, when I installed Snow Leopard it did not automatically install the updates for the printer drivers already installed in my computer.

I then tried to manually install the printer drivers using the SL disk and still no luck. The printers that I use are both wireless and work when they are connected with USB. Am I missing something? I'm reading all over about how people have made the upgrade with no problems at all so I'm there's got to be something I'm not doing.

Windows On Mac :: Won't Change Bootcamp Partition Icon Since Snow Leopard Install

Aug 29, 2009

After installing Snow Leopard, the volume icon for my Windows XP Bootcamp partition has changed back to the default Hard Disk icon. As it is formatted NTFS, I am unable to change the icon within OS X. I used to change it by applying the desired icon to a memory stick, then within Windows, copy the hidden icon files from the memory stick on the base directory of the 'C:' Drive.

When in Leopard, it would recognise the icon that I had applied to it - but ever since I installed Snow Leopard, this trick no longer works and I cannot find a way to change it (other than to change my Bootcamp partition to FAT32, so I can apply an Icon within OS X - but this means reformatting and is slightly OTT for just an icon ) This occurs both after doing a Upgrade install on my MacBook Pro, and a clean install on my iMac, both with already existing Bootcamp partitions. I might try by making a new Bootcamp partition now Snow Leopard is installed, but I don't see how that would be any different to the ones I currently have.

Intel Mac :: Install Tiger On Lion Partition?

Apr 18, 2012

I'm using Lion and I can't run some of my powerpc programs.  Want to install tiger on a partition (Extended Journaled type) made on Lion using Disk Utility, my only question here is: Will it work if I've burned on a DVD the installer of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Install DVD (PPC) and then run the instalation and trigger it to this partition? Or if this is not the proper way, which is it? I would really love to have both OS on my iMac 24-in Intel Core 2 Duo mid 2007.

I've read that newer macs won't accept this procedure I'm trying to pull out, but my actual iMac (2007) came with Tiger installed on it, but the install disk is lost, tried to find it but I never could.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Boot From Snow Leopard Partition

Feb 12, 2012

I have a Macbook Pro from 2008. It previously just had one partition, with Lion on it.

I created a new partition for Snow Leopard

I installed Snow leopard from a retail disk on the second partition. The installation went fine, and I got the message at the end that the installation was successful, and to restart the computer.

When I restart it, it just goes to the gray Apple screen, with the spinning gear, and never gets farther than that. The gear is spinning.

I can still boot successfully into Lion. Once I booted into Lion, I chose the Snow Leopard partition as the Startup Disk, but the same thing happens - just the gray Apple screen and spinning gear. I've let the machine sit for half an hour in that state, but it still does nothing but the spinning gear.

why I can't boot successfully into Snow Leopard and how I can fix it?

Mac Mini :: Intel Won't Install Snow Leopard

Jan 12, 2011

I bought a Mac Mini on ebay and it came with snow leopard already installed. Its been working great but today, i decided I want to swap the 80gb drive for the old 320gb drive from my laptop (the laptop got a shiny new SSD). Problem is, when i try to boot from the 10.6.2 install disc, it says that snow leopard cannot be installed on this Mac. Any way i can get it to install Snow Leopard on the new drive?

Also, I tried running the installer on the old HDD from inside the old Snow leopard install and it also said that it could not install snow leopard. It then asked me to restart and kept attempting to install Snow leopard and failing.

specs of Mac mini:
-Model Identifier: Macmini1,1
-Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz
-1Gb 667MHz DDR2 RAM
-4 USB ports

for the record, i think the guy i bought it from bought a new mac mini and just included the discs that came with the new one in the one he sold me. The instruction manual shows a mac mini with a mini display port. The only OSX disc i got from him was the snow leopard one. also, if it matters, this mac mini is the only mac computer that I own.

Intel Mac :: Fan Blowing After Snow Leopard Install

Apr 3, 2012

Yesterday I installed snow leopard (finally) and planning on downloading Lion. Its 22 hours later and now my fans are blowing loud. I had this problem on my "old" IMAC that ended up with a logic board failure after living a short 2 1/2 years. This IMAC is ironically the same age but we won't go there. I read one comment that this might be a transient issue that will last a week or so after the install. Hard Drive fan running at 5900 rpms,  temps are at 37-40.

Intel Mac :: Damaged Install Disk For Snow Leopard, Restore From Time-machine?

Jun 19, 2012

I got SMART warning about my hard disk, I got it replaced by a shop, but said I would do OS restore myself. (cant afford cost )Thought it would be simple - but it is anything but.  It appears my install DVD is damaged, so was not able to boot with Grey OS install disk - holding the C key.I managed to get iMac to boot up using the old disk  - using firewire dock. However I was not able to restore old disk and OS to new disk, Due to IO read error.(this is why I had the SMART warning). So I am unable to get the OS on the new HD using the old disk or the DVD as these are both damaged.  The computer is running, so I thought I would try buying and downloading LION - then using the migration tool .  The download is still running after 2 days.I went to apple store, and was told that they cannot replace DVD , so I should bring in the iMac = and pay for the restore.  Dont wish to do this. As I have the computer and OS running, is there anything I can do to get a time machine restore from another backup disk (USB).
