View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working away and my Internet access is limited to phone and iPad. I recently purchased logic pro while back home and installed it on my MacBook pro. I would like to transfer it to my iMac where I am staying but don't have an Internet connection to download it with. Given apple no longer supply a cd etc., is there any way I can copy it to my iMac from my laptop?

speeding up my iMac 2007 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, at least until the new iMacs come out very soon. Here's my situation. My Time Capsule recently filled up, necessitating purchase of a LaCie 2 TB external storage device. I've only used it for regular Time Machine backups since I took it out of the box yesterday, but would love to (if possible) use this puppy for all it's worth...perhaps taking some of the storage strain off my iMac, which currently has L2 Cache of 4MB and Memory of just 2GB. Gah, I know. And a wee 800 MHz processor. So what can I do to help speed this baby up? A friend mentioned Carbon Copy, but what do I do? I realize my new LaCie could eat my iMac's storage for lunch, but I don't want to mess anything up. Where do I start? Do I move photos over? Create partitions? Transfer everything over and start from scratch, slowly adding things back to my iMac, bit by bit? It's Sunday late afternoon here...would like to start Monday rarin' to go with a blazing-fast computer.

I backup my photography on a WD My Passport. I have only used PC's with this in the past, I am now trying to back up some more files and it won't let me copy them to the drive. The permissions say that I have read only access on my Mac. I have read some threads, and they all say that I have format the hard drive to change the permissions and that I will not be able to copy over files bigger than 4G. I have RAW files that can get quite large so limiting the size is an option.

I want to manually add color profiles for my camera in Adobe Lightroom. The path is /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Camera. Another folder for my DSLR needs to be created under Camera where the profile files will be placed.
If I go to the Library folder by selecting option and Go, the path ends at CameraProfiles and all I see is index.dat. If I double click the hard drive icon, I see the folder but cannot add anything.

I understand that in order to view your clipboard (iMac) that you click "Edit" on the Finder, and "show clipboard". I created a public link (Alias) and it has gone into my clipboard but, when I click on it, to copy and then paste into, for example, an email, I don't have an option to do that. Therefore, I have to write the link down and then re-type it into the email.

I have an iMac and MacBook Pro, both have Snow Leopard. I use Carbon Copy Cloner but only to back up the iMac to an external drive. I do not want to create a bootbale drive of the laptop (not enough space in the external hard drive). What I want to do is ocassionally copy files from the laptop to the iMac. I know how to do this via sharing but sharing does not really let me back up only new files. In other words, upon my periodic file copying backup from laptop to iMac, I would like whatever tool or app or program or Mac feature you may suggest to detecte which files already exist in the iMac. So, pretty much the same thing CCC does but not a bootable drive, just copy files. I also want to create a file copy back up of some of the applications in the latop. I dont think drag and drop or sharing would work for this. Really, I would be satisfied with some kind of snapshot if you will of the applications and versions in the laptop.
