IMac :: Connecting More Than One Extra Monitor?

Mar 15, 2009

I currently have one 19" Samsung monitor connected to my iMac via the Mini-DVI. I am looking to get another monitor hooked up, but of course there aren't any more video ports. Are there any alternatives? to have two monitors connected to my iMac? I have heard of the DualHead2Go product, and possibly connecting via USB? Any info on the above and if there are any other methods.

Mac Pro :: Back Up Machine - Get Extra Monitor?

Nov 5, 2009

I run a small business off an Early 2008 MacPro (8 core). I mainly do PCB CAD work, and find that it would be useful to have a second monitor. I'm considering a Dell 24" or 27" model. I run a 4870 which has a DVI and a display port. I'm also considering another computer as a back up, as I had a video card failure in the MacPro that left me unable to work for a week until a new card arrived. My question is this: do I buy another old Mac Pro as a back up machine and get the extra monitor too or just buy a 21" or 27" new Imac and use it as the primary system with an extra monitor, leaving the 2008 MacPro as the reserve machine. The software I run is via parallels and will run on a low spec PC. But I do not want a windows machine. What do you think?

I have an old PC monitor that I want to connect to my new 27 inch iMac, it's the latest edition, the one that doesn't have any mini display ports. All I have are four USB 2.0 ports and two Thunderbolt ports. No mini display port of any kind. So is there an adapter for me? My old monitor can use either VGA or HDMI and I'm not really fussed which one I use. A link would be most helpful, surley that are more people with the same problem.

Hardware :: Finding Large, Extra-bright Monitor Recommendations?

Oct 12, 2009

Like the title says; my dad's vision is getting progressively worse, so I'm looking to fix him up with a ridiculously bright, preferably very large monitor. He likes photography, so at least moderate color accuracy would be nice (video performance is completely irrelevant), but is secondary, since if he can't see it it doesn't much matter how good the color is. Not ridiculously expensive, also nice.

I can, of course, go sort monitors at Newegg by brightness and pick the highest one, but if some of the online tests are to be believed, the specced brightness isn't necessarily accurate, and that doesn't tell the story if it looks like complete crap otherwise.

On paper the HannsG HG-281DPB is ridiculous in brightness and size, but it's basically a TV (HDMI-only); I like ViewSonic and Samsung, but on paper most of their screens aren't notably bright.

OS X :: How To Connect A Wii To Belnea 19" LCD Monitor

Apr 11, 2009

I am looking to buy a Wii but don't own a TV due to the ridiculous TV license fee you have to pay here in the UK to own one without being harassed by 'The Man.' Anyway, I own a mac pro which is hooked up to a Belnea 19" LCD monitor - resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 75 Hz. The mac pro uses a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics chipset - don't know if that matters. I have looked at other threads that address this or a similar issue and I am still confused about whether I can connect a Wii directly to my LCD display via an adapter. What I have found in my searching is a box device called the Gadmei TV5821GXGA Gamebox for Wii which claims to allow audio and video feed to a monitor and speakers from a Wii.

MacBook Pro :: Connect External Monitor Via DVI Or VGA?

Aug 2, 2009

The monitor came with the VGA cable, but not a DVI-D cable. Should I get the DVI-D cable and adapter instead of a VGA adapter? Why do I ask, because the adapters both cost $34 each (I'm Canadian) but the catch is for DVI I would have to add an extra $20 for the cable and I'm not sure if it's worth it or not since I'm tight on money.

Should I worry myself over getting a DVI adapter AND the additional cost which is the DVI-DVI cable?Already answered:Just like Windows which makes it super easy, I tried searching but didn't find the right solution... Does anyone know how I can extend the my MBP's monitor to my external as I can do this on my PC -> External but can't get it to work from my Mac.Just to clarify, I want to do this via Leopard, not XP, Vista or 7.
