Intel Mac :: Get Back To The Old Familiar List All Emails At The Top With Email Content Views At The Bottom?
Jun 26, 2012I made the mistake of choosing the "new" 3-column format in Mail when I upgrade to Lion. I'm guessing that most people love this, but I ain't one of them. My question: How do I get back to the old familiar list all emails at the top with email content views at the bottom?

I've set up my email account in both Apple Mail and Thunderbird:
Incoming: pop.secureserver.net
Outgoing: smtpout.secureserver.net
After setting up through Apple Mail, I can send emails perfectly.
After setting up through Thunderbird, can't send any mail Any mail I try to send just times out.
I prefer to use Thunderbird. What seems to be the problem with this?

Jun 25, 2009I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!

Dec 9, 2014Ever since upgrading my 2012 Mac Pro to Yosemite, I cannot get the green Time Machine icon to stick. After the first Time Machine backup, which took many hours, the icon suddenly appeared all by itself. Then after a reboot, the icon reverted back to a generic internal hard drive icon (my Time Machine disk is an internal drive). I went into settings and re-selected the Time Machine disk, then the icon came back by itself. On the next reboot, it was gone again.
I've run Disk Utility and everything appears fine. No, I've verified there is no custom icon set via the Get Info window, nor do I care to use a custom icon as a band-aide to this problem. I'd like to find/fix the root problem. (I'll only apply a temporary custom icon if this a verified bug in the OS.)
Originally, this machine came from Apple as refurbished with Mountain Lion installed. The Time Machine icon was always proper. Just a few days ago, I upgraded from ML to Yosemite when this problem started. Otherwise, AFAIK, Time Machine backups are working fine.

OS X :: Firefox & Thunderbird Want Fonts
Jan 12, 2011I have been having this problem for over two weeks on my iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running 10.6.6. I am running FF 3.6.12 and Thunderbird 3.1. I mention Thunderbird, because the persistent request to install fonts occurs on both apps, not just FF. Clicking "Do not ask me again," has no effect.
The odd thing is the requests in both apps want to install on the volume "NEON," which is my SuperDuper (bootable) backup drive, and should contain all the fonts that are on my boot drive.
I have tried the tricks suggested for FontBook (move all User Fonts to the Computer Fonts ?), with no change in behavior. With some difficulty, I did install the fonts being asked for on both volumes, with the result that Firefox and Thunderbird began asking to install a new set of completely different fonts, although fewer in number that when the problem began.
OS X :: Migrating To Mail From Thunderbird?
Oct 28, 2007I've recently installed leopard on my macbook and I'd like to migrate from thunderbird to mail so that my contacts and all can be synced from one application to another. That's the beauty of mac osx afterall.
Alright, So I launched mail, clicked import from thunderbird and everything seemed to be running smoothly and when all my mails finished importing, I did a quick check on the mails and. The mails weren't properly sorted into the different folders and I had tons of mail missing! Does anyone here have any experience with migrating from thunderbird to mail and faced these problems during their migration? If I did it manually, would it be better? Kindly advise.
Secondly, I used to run filters on my mail such that my mail will get sorted out into different folders. It's really handy because it keeps my mails organised and stuff. How does mail do this? Is it the smart mailbox that I see?

Jan 26, 2009I've had a lot of problems in the past with the generic OS X Mail app. I've been unable to send, or receive, or both. I've tried just about every combination of ports, settings, etc., suggested to me on the Apple Discussions site. But all to no avail. So, I've finally ditched OS X Mail and installed Mozilla's Thunderbird. Now, using identical settings to those tried in OS X Mail, I can send, receive, and do just about anything I like. Except. Thunderbird will not import my Address Book! My Address Book is the standard Mac OS X Address Book. I have tried saving v-cards, saving the whole book, etc, but when I try to import to Thunderbird, I just get a bunch of blank v-cards or nothing at all. Step by step guide please. I'm sure this must be both possible and easy. I must just be missing some single vital step.

Feb 22, 2010I decided to use Mail.app after using Thunderbird for years. When I use the import in Mail, it fails to import inbox items after May 2007.
Then, I copied all inbox items into a folder in Thunderbird. When I import that folder into Mail, again 17 out of 282 items which are dated until May 2007.
What do I have to do to fully import my mails?

Jul 31, 2008I use Thunderbird for my email and Firefox for my browsing. For both Thunderbird and Firefox I have them asking me where to save files that I download. I have also changed in Safari, even though I do not use this, to save downloaded files in a temp directory I created. However, whenever I open an attachment in Thunderbird it saves a copy of this file to my Downloads directory.

Is there a work-around so that in iPhoto, when you highlight a selection of photos and then hit Mail to email them, you can actually select Thunderbird? Right now, even though Thunderbird is my default mail app, as set in Mail, Thunderbird still isn't an option in iPhoto. There are other ways to email those photos, obviously, but iPhoto is so much easier.

Mar 4, 2009I use Thunderbird as my preferred mail client. However, one thing I don't like is how when I am in the inbox, anytime I click on a message it always opens beneath. This is not that big of a deal, but what bugs me is that the message is then counted as a "read message." Therefore, like I'm sure many of you do as well, I constantly have to secondary click --- drag cursor down to "mark" --- then click "as read".
I have to do this in order to mark it as "unread" so I remember to reply to it later. If I single click (or tap) the cursor over and email in my inbox, it will either not open up beneath and not be marked as read, or still be opened up beneath (in the inbox) but not be marked as read? The second option would be preferred, but either would be better than the current default setting I have.
