How to tell iCal which mail application or client to use?
I've recently set up an email account through my website hosted by fxdomains.com
I've set up my email account in both Apple Mail and Thunderbird:
Incoming: pop.secureserver.net
Outgoing: smtpout.secureserver.net
After setting up through Apple Mail, I can send emails perfectly.
After setting up through Thunderbird, can't send any mail Any mail I try to send just times out.
I prefer to use Thunderbird. What seems to be the problem with this?
Which on do you use and why? I use Thunderbird because it's what I've used on Windows. I just moved over my profile folder with all of my settings and filters. I'm debating on going with Mac mail since it's native to OSX.

I've tried just about every combination of ports, settings, etc., suggested to me on the Apple Discussions site. But all to no avail. So, I've finally ditched OS X Mail and installed Mozilla's Thunderbird. Now, using identical settings to those tried in OS X Mail, I can send, receive, and do just about anything I like. Except. Thunderbird will not import my Address Book! My Address Book is the standard Mac OS X Address Book. I have tried saving v-cards, saving the whole book, etc, but when I try to import to Thunderbird, I just get a bunch of blank v-cards or nothing at all. Step by step guide please. I'm sure this must be both possible and easy. I must just be missing some single vital step.

I don't care about reading mail on my iPhone. The move to Lion and iCloud has done nothing but make life more difficult for me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI ordered a macbook pro and an iPod touch yesterday and didn't get a confirmation email so I cancelled.
I contacted the bank today and everything is in order so I ordered again and it's been 2 hours and I didn't get the confirmation email yet. Does it usually take this long? I've never bought on the online apple store before. I got the "thank you for your order" thing and everything so I'm sure they accepted the credit card. I'm not sure why the email is taking forever and it's getting me to be a little edgy.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy apple mail version 7.3 has never had any problems connecting with my gmail account, but recently whenever I try to send an email, it goes straight to the outbox and then a popup saying "Gmail cannot connect to the server" or something like that comes up. It asks me to enter my password, and I do and then it just pops up the same error again. I have tried changing my password and made sure I am entering it correctly but it just does not work. I can receive mail fine.

I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.

Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.

I cannot send mail. This has been an occasional problem. I'd send and a pop-up would offer me choice: Cancel, ~Trash, or Save as Draft. I'd save and successfully send as a draft. The last few days I've had to the saved draft and send in Eudora. Today I spent some time on this. At first it looked all right in Mail/Preferences/Accounts, smtp.west.cox.net.user name--then it persistently included (Offline), but Mail menu bar/ Window showed Take All Accounts Online dimmed and Take All Accounts Offline as the active option. At this time I could receive but not send mail. I have edited the smtp server list a number of times. No show of offline there. When I'm done (Offline) again pops up on theOutgoing Mail Server (SMTP). I deleted the account and recreated it and could not send. The (Offline) did not appear after the smtp.cox.net.user name. Early 2006 iMac, OS 10.6.8 The settings are OK, the same as in Eudora.

Can anyone tell me how to correctly configure Apple Mail (Leopard) with Gmail IMAP so that you dont have to keep a duplicate of all emails from the All Mail folder on my local drive? Basically, when Mail syncs, it downloads all messages, then it downloads them again because they reside in the All Mail folder in Gmails web interface. Any suggestions would be appreciated as this takes up twice the amount of space that it should.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my first mac a few days ago. I think I'm doing pretty well with the changes, but I can't make anything send out of my email.
Sent messages sit in my outbox while the "send" file just shows a turning black circle as though it is trying to send. I can click "Window" and "Activity" and click on the stop sign to make it stop trying to send, but then it still won't send the message when I re-try. I've tried deleting the messges out of the outbox and starting all over. I've tried quitting mail and pulling it back up.
"You must add your own card and email address to the address book before sending an email event".
I did that, it still says it? WHAT GIVES?!?
