Dec 8, 2009I've seen previous discussions regarding problems installing a Dell printer. I have a Dell 962 wireless printer. I did find the compatible Mac driver R92834 and I did install the driver. However, when I try to add the printer, I can't find the printer in the drop down list. Am I supposed to be looking for a Lexmark printer? If so, I have no idea what model is equivalent to the Dell 962 AIO. The model sticker is 4409-0d1. A search for this model returns nothing. I'm a newbie with Macs. OS is 10.4.3. Got any ideas?

Apr 17, 2012Trying to find a solution to my printing issues, which have taken many forms over the years. The current frustrating gremlin: Macbook Air, OS X 10.6.8, Lexmark E250D laser, printer driver built in to Mac OS, driver .dmg also downloaded and installed from Lexmark Wireless home network on NETGEAR router with extension to Airport Express. Lexmark E250D laser attached to USB on the Airport Express. Cannot add printer via the default pathway, the Bonjour system finds the printer correctly for about 5 seconds after the printer is plugged in to the AE USB port then it simply disappears off the window never to return. Airport Utility cannot find the AE which I recently reset and set up without problem. The AE light is green.
Via Network Preferences I find the IP of the AE and try to set up LPD printing. This successfully finds the Lexmark, calls it a Generic Postscrpipt until I select the Lexmark driver from the OS X list. It seems to correctly identify printer features such as in built memory and duplex printing. Sending a file to the printer results in the warning that the IP address is busy. In the past I simply connected by USB cable to the printer, but since a recent move the house/ office layout makes that very inconvenient. I have to go outside and downstairs to the office which has no internal access from the main part of the house.

Apr 27, 2010I have a Brother MFC-8220 connected to my Airport Extreme via USB from my AT&T U-verse modem. I keep getting a message during startup saying "The printer 'Brother MFC-8220' could not be found in your list of printers". I checked my printer list and it's there. The only change I've made recently is switching from Comcast to AT&T U-verse, and from the Comcast modem to the AT&T modem. My wife has a MacBook that connects wirelessly, and she does not get this message. I'm just stumped as to what is triggering this message. [URL]

When I connect to my home wireless network, I can see the printer just fine in the list of printers on my laptop. But if I try and open it or send a print job to it, I get the following error: Access Denied, Unable to Connect. This is probably a very basic problem/question.

Aug 28, 2010Bought a HP Laserjet Pro 8500 A909g. I have installed software but driver never appears in list so there is an option to manually select it. Sometimes the printer then appears and other times it doesn't. Message then appears: If your device is not listed it is not supported by this installer. Downloaded installer again from HP but still no good. Printer is wireless but was given USB cable to connect to Macbook Pro as don't have internet at home and was told it would be no problem. Message now appearing saying if USB port on printer is at front (mine is) do not connect to USB on Macbook. However, it doesn't bother to tell me how to connect it any other way. Nothing in manual. Running out of patience. Just starting working for myself and have clients waiting for designs which I can't even print off.

Dec 5, 2009I am trying to get G5 (10.4) to use a network printer MP160 connected to a windows XP machine.
This is what I have done so far: Downloaded and installed the latest MP160 printer package for the Mac. Plugged the MP160 directly into the Mac USB port, the printer is instantly recognised and is installed as the default printer. It prints just fine. This leads me to believe the MP160 driver exists in the Mac. Now I transfer the printer to the XP. Using another (wireless) networked windows laptop I have no problem printing to the XP printer so that shows the sharing is working correctly. At the Mac I open printer setup. I then add the printer, selecting it, where I see it listed on the XP machine in (mac) Windows Printing/Network Neighbourhood. The printer name is seen just as it is on the XP.
Now the point it all goes wrong. During the setup, the utility ask me to select the printer model I want to add from a list it displays under the canon group of drivers. No matter what I do the list cannot be updated or amended to include the MP160 model. The BJ gimp drivers don't appear to support the MP160. I get the print job message "Gimp printing.....20%" and various values depending on the model selected and eventually, "NT status network bad name error". The generic printer driver returns the same error. I have tried just about every type of connection using the setup utility and localhost 631 but I always end up at the same point, not being able to select the model. There are no networking issues as far as I can see. The Mac can see and use shared files on the windows machines.

May 6, 2009I'm having some trouble adding network printers in Tiger. If I open the print&fax window and then click on the "+" sign to add printers, nothing comes up. I thought a new screen was supposed to pop up, but nothing happens. If I try to print something from Word or Excel and select "add printer" in the print menu, also nothing happens. I do find a list of "bonjour printers", but I'm not sure how this can help me. So in the end it seems I can't add any printers at all, and thus not print.

Apr 1, 2012I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

Oct 29, 2010Hi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?

Using Bonjour to connect a XP and a Vista box I get a error saying "ERROR You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". I am logged in as the administrator when I do it on the XP or Vista computer and have completed this function on other printer installation before so I know the permissions are there. The software for the printer is loaded on both windows computers.

Aug 27, 2010I have a pre-Intel iMac G5, running OS 10.5.8. I have been using an HP LaserJet P3005, connected with a USB2 cable, with no problems. The fuser got "muddy" on the 3005 so I bought a new HP LaserJet P2035n. I've loaded and reloaded the printer software from the provided CD, downloaded the driver software from the HP support website, but the computer doesn't recognize the printer. Called HP support and everything they suggested came up empty; they told me to exchange the printer for a another new one, but I get the same results with it. I'm using the same USB cable I used with the 3005 -- it worked perfectly with that printer as recently as this morning. What's wrong with my iMac or setup?

I have my new Canon D480 Multifunction printer connected to one of the Macs ("Mac #1) by USB and it prints perfectly with the driver recommended in the printer manual downloaded from the Canon site. I have Printer sharing turned on. The printer's name on Mac #1 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) which is the name that was automatically given to the printer when I downloaded the drivers and installed them.
However I am unable to print to the printer from the second new Mac ("Mac #2") although I have downloaded the same printer driver and have added the printer on Mac #2. The printer's name on Mac #2 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) @ Mac #1.I go through the motions of File, Print, but nothing happens.

Jun 16, 2012I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out.This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.

Dec 3, 2010I have been given an iMac g3 with osx 10.4.11 installed and airport card. My son will have this as his first computer. It is up and running and surfing the net using the airport connected to our home network. I have searched the forums and tried all the results I could find but am still unable to print from the iMac to my network printer.
iMac G3 10.4.11 osx slot loaded, airport wireless. Officejet all in one 6310 usb to pc running Vista. I have tried all the usual SAMBA and LPD methods listed going for generic printer, but get error 256 using printer utility, and NT_status_no_memory when using samba with all the settings, when trying LPD the printer service just stops.
I use LPD://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename and same for smb. I have set up a seperate account for the mac on the vista pc with password and started lpd service I've also edited the registry for lmcompatibility, printer sharing is enabled and both machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).

Jan 15, 2010I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that.The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.
When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.

Apr 7, 2012The instructions for uninstalling the Hewlett Packard CP1518ni driver (CP1510 series) speak of an uninstaller in my applications folder (Mac OS 10.5), but there isn't any. I have installed the driver twice and in neither case was an uninstaller installed per the log. How do I completely uninstall the driver (short of looking at the log and manually removing all the bits)?

Apr 28, 2012Have just added a wireless Canon printer to my local network. Have a shared print queue on a Mac Mini. Have modified the printer options for this printer/queue using CUPS on the Mini.
Identified as a shared printer. Expanded options using CUPS, these options appear in the Mini "print" panel. Can see printer over network on another Mac.Cannot see printer presets, or expanded options on this machine "print" panel.Copies presets .plist from Mini to local machine, now see presets {this is suboptimal - the OS should see the shared presets).
Cannot see epanded print options on local machine. I would expect the expanded options would be visible to
any network machine connected to this printer/queue. What am I missing?
