Intel Mac :: Brand New 27" Keeps Dropping Wifi Connections?

Mar 25, 2012

At least 2-3 times daily my brand new Imac drops the connection to my home network- I have tried to reboot my airport extreme- my ipad and iphone and nest thermostat do not have these issues of dropped connections.  As soon as I click the pale wireless signal at the top of the imac, it finds my home network and joins again, but it is a drag to have to redo this every time I want to stream music around the house or check my mail. All of my updates are current.

Intel Mac :: Lion Keep Dropping WiFi

May 8, 2012

My Lion OS 10.7.3 iMac just does not seem to be able to hold a stable connection with my home wifi network. After around ten minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less, usually when I've gotten up to do something else, the wifi is lost. It stays "connected" to the network (ie the wifi bars are black) but no internet comes through. Every time this happens, I turn WiFi off and reconnect and it fixes it every time, but it is still extremely inconvenient and troublesome to have to redo this constantly.

Intel Mac :: It Is Constantly Dropping Wifi Signal

Mar 18, 2012

My iMac (purchased Feb 6) is constantly dropping the wifi signal. It seems to happen randomly...sometimes it's there, sometimes not and I must go to Networking icon and all the steps to reconnect!. (My iPad2 and IPhone are not having this problem...or perhaps their 3G has kept me from noticing.)

Intel Mac :: It Keeps Dropping And Instantly Resetting My Wifi Connection

Mar 28, 2012

Every 2-20 minutes, my iMac is dropping, then instantly resetting my wifi connection. The actual wifi drop lasts no longer than 5 seconds, and instantly reconnects itself with no input from me... the problem is it completely interrupts any downloading, streaming, gaming, or anything else I might be doing that requires a constant internet connection. It seems to drop off just long enough to stop the connection, then it resets all on it's own. †

I'm currently using a mid-2011 27 inch iMac intel core i5 3.1 ghz processor w/ OS X Lion 10.7.3. I have a Linksys router and a GCI issued modem, unsure of the brand as there are minimal markings on it. The internet/tv service (run by GCI) is smooth throughout the rest of my home, and no other items we own connected to the net seem to have the same problem...

I have tried soft resets on both the modem and router. I have restarted my machine several times and re-added the network location and wifi connection to my computer. I have unplugged both modem and router to let those reset and have unplugged and reconnected my coax cable for several minutes as well. No time of day seems to work well, and it's becoming quite difficult to work and do other fun functions like stream television or game

Intel Mac :: WiFi Still Dropping Even After Clean Lion Install

Jun 28, 2012

I upgraded to Lion after its release and ever since then my wifi has been driving me crazy. The wifi disconnects, and when I click on my network I get the error that the connection timed out. I'm always forced to turn the wifi off and then back on.†It happened a ton, and consistently. It's extremely frustrating especially when I'm in the middle of a movie on my Apple TV and my iMac loses its internet and interrupts the show. Sometimes it happens three or more times during one show.†So I decided to do a clean install of Lion. I made sure all my important documents were on my Hard Drive and even wrote a list out of every application that I use regularly. Then I completely reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of Lion.

MacBook Pro :: How Does AirPort Prioritize WiFi Connections

Nov 5, 2009

My MBP 3,1 (early 2008?) normally just connects to my WLAN when I start it up but very occasionally it connects to a nearby WiFi Hotspot. When it does, turning Airport off then on again sometimes gets it to connect to my WLAN but sometimes it just keeps re-connecting the the hotspot. The only solution - and it works every time - is to reboot. But rebooting seems such a Windows thing to have to do.

Does Airport "prioritize" its choice of connection, e.g. first tries to connect to the last WLAN it was connected to? One other thing. If I go into Network Prefs and click the Advanced button, I see my WLAN there but there seems to be no way to tell it to connect to that particular WLAN - the equivalent dialogue in Windows for example has a Connect button so you can select a WLAN and hit connect to force it to (try to) connect to that one, but there's no Connect button in OS X. In case it's important, I don't broadcast the SSID on my WLAN.

Hardware :: Dropping Wifi Connection - App?

Apr 11, 2009

I work for a business that sells a lot of computers, Macs specifically. We've got a wi-fi network in our building; however, the network constantly drops out. Despite our pleas to IT, they will not fix the issue. Our demo computers that customers can play with and consider purchasing often lose Internet access because of this. Whenever this happens, I have to manually turn the Airport off and then back on again, which will get it to reconnect. Does anybody know of a way to have the computer automatically do this every so often?

OS X Mavericks :: WiFi Keeps Dropping Out Every 5-10 Minutes

Aug 27, 2014

I've noticed recently my wifi seems to drop every 5-10 minutes.

I don't see any signs, no exclamation marks etc. I just find web pages take a long time to load, I go into the Network Preferences > Assist Me > Diagnostics and via that I see a yellow mark next to various areas (it changes but it's usually 2 or 3 of either the ISP, Wifi or Server).  If I hit continue and go through the process on in the diagnostics section it re connects to my wifi and works again for the 10 minutes or so.

I don't find this happening on my other devices. Is there any way I can find out why it's dropping so often?

ITunes For Mac :: WiFi Network Is Dropping Out Every So Often

Dec 2, 2014

Out of nowhere--i.e. independent of any changes to my system, settings, equipment, etc.--the audio from my iTunes feed to my WiFi network is dropping out every so often. No pattern to it, just once every couple of minutes or so the sound just disappears for a second or three. My iTunes/media is proprietarily serviced--independent of my data WiFi--by an older Airport XPress which is hooked up to my stereo. I've restarted everything in the setup but it keeps happening. The data WiFI is independently serviced by an Airport Xtreme.

My Wi-Fi drops out all the time and I have to reset the WiFi to reconnect. When I look in the signal bar is says it is still connected, this will happen about once every 2 to 3 minutes. I have contacted the apple help desk and was told it must be my modem. I have two phones, an ipad, 2 windows laptops and my macbook pro is the only one that has problems with the WiFi. have also taken it to a repair agent and was told it was my modem.

Hardware :: IMac Dropping WiFi Active Connection

Jul 31, 2010

My Linksys WRT610N with the latest firmware worked fantastically on multiple Windows 7-based ThinkPad. However, three (3) different iMac's have had the very same problem of dropping the connection and of my having to powercycle both my cable modem and the W610 router for it to work again at all! Once it drops the active connection, that's it. I have tried a few different settings and nothing has made a difference.

Can you maybe help point me in the right direction or should I just ditch it for an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule? One additional point: It works worst in the 5GHz frequency band, even though there are none in my neighborhood, and if there are, they have their SSID's (network name) hidden. The 2.4GHz band is extremely crowded where I am which makes it difficult to enjoy my WiFi connection.

OS X :: 10.6.1 WiFi Dropping Signals On Late 2007 IMac

Ever since I installed to 10.6.1, I have been having issues with WiFi.

This is really annoying and I don't know what to do, anyone have any ideas?

I've already reset my AEBS twice and that hasn't worked.

Hardware :: Won't Work With TimeCapsule / Dropping WiFi Signal

Jan 24, 2010

My TimeCapsule drops the WiFi signal every 10 minutes or so for about 10 seconds; the light is blinking yellow during that time, and then it comes back to everything ok.
The TC is in Bridge Mode behind my router. I can connect to the internet via the router all the time - no connection lags there, it's just the TimeCapsule that stops the connection. No entries in it's logs, though.
I'm running 10.6.2, and the TimeCapsule is on 7.4.2 (same issue on 7.3.2 and 7.4.1).

As it is, it basically kills iChat and Skype on top of it's impact on web browsing and the like.
