Intel Mac :: Apps Crashing After Fresh OS X Installation?

I bought a second hand iMac, formatted the HD and installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Fixed disk permission, did all the software upgrades, fixed once more permission and verified startup disk... and everything seemed to work fine.
After using it for an hour I've started noticing strange crashes:Â
-When I use Software Update and I click Show Details, the app crashes every time... but if i click the Install button it works fine.
-The computer is connected to the internet but Safari is not showing anything. It stays white. I've installed Firefox and it works fine. Safari not loading anything.
-App Store is crashing upon launch, every timeÂ
Checked the hardware using the Apple disk and it's all in order. Re-fixed Disk Permissions. Re-verified startup disk.Â
How do I get iLife 08 (which came preinstalled) onto my Mac after I do a fresh installation of Snow Leopard (if possible)? Is it possible to do a fresh install of Snow Leopard? I've heard all sorts of things, but I don't know what to believe. Will I just have to reinstall Leopard and then install Snow Leopard? (Will I have to get all the updates [10.5.x updates] once Leopard is installed before I install Snow Leopard?)
fresh install after two years. So I need explicit instructions, please:-) I know I have to go to Disk Utility to initiate the install, and I have my HD cloned on an external.
I am on my Macbook Pro 17 with an HDD of about 350 GB. My HDD is Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) formated with Snow Leopard installed. I want to make a fresh Snow Leopard installation on the HDD formated as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but I don't want to lose my applications (it takes too much time to download/install all those) I need a way to get my apps back after/while installing Snow Leopard. What I am thinking is clone my HDD to another blank HDD that I have (about 600 GB) and while installing Snow Leopard chose to transfer my applications. I could also use the Migration Assistant after Snow Leopard is installed (I am not really sure that those options will be possible) I need to know if making a clone of my HDD and then transfer the applications is possible and how can I get it done (what software is needed?) If that's not possible, how do you suggest me to transfer my applications to the fresh Snow Leopard installation?
I recently installed Lion on my Core 2 Duo Macbook (late 2010 model). Everything seems to have gone smoothly. I also installed a Windows partition with Boot Camp. Windows 7 seems to be working okay, too.I had the impression that Lion installs an emergency backup partition on my hard drive. I had the impression I would see this partition if I started the machine with the option key down (along with the Boot Camp partition). Actually, I could swear I did see the Lion backup partition several times when I started the machine with the option key down. That was several days ago. Recently, when I start with the option key down, I don't see the Lion emergency backup partition. I just see my Macintosh Hard Disk and Windows.Was it my imagination, or has the Lion backup partition disappeared from the optionkey-down startup screen? If so, why? Has something gone wrong?Â
My MacBook pro keeps crashing. I have reformatted the hard drive many times. I've also reinstalled the OS from scratch rather than off time machine to ensure a bug has not carried over but it is started crashing again when I was using Google Chrome. I switched back to using Safari and it seemed OK until I reinstalled my Norton antivirus. As soon as the norton was activated it crashed immediately and now all I can get is the login screen with the macwhip that won't go away.

During install on mac osx 10.5 on my g4 mac mini with 1gb ram, 75gb free space, 1.5ghz.
I get through the disc verification fine but then during actual install always seems to stall around 1hr 56 mins to go.. now when this seems to happen is when my the hdmi signal to my samsung lcd switches off, the installation stalls well when i click the mouse for the connection to become live again, the process has always crashed...
I just updated my (2006 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz 15") MacBookPro to Leopard 10.5.6 I installed Windows XP SP3 through bootcamp, and everything was fine, but after i was done installing the BootCamp drivers from the Leopard disk and I restarted the computer,and booted back into windows, it would load to windows show my desktop for about 5 seconds then reboot itself (no error messages). So I mounted the windows partition again, same thing, over and over, I must have done it 20 times.I even tried doing the bootcamp 2.1 update and it didn't work. So i restored windows to the previous working settings and the bootcamp drivers were gone. So Windows works now but i am not abled to use the wifi or any multi touch or anything. I have also deleted the Windows partition and reinstalled it from the beginning and the same thing happened after installing the bootcamp drivers.
I can open Safari, iTunes, Quicktime, etc... they work fine, but any app that didn't come preinstalled on this computer crashes automatically. This started today, I've been using the computer fine for a month with zero issues. The last thing I did was update twitter and put the computer on the charger all day..
I have been experiencing recurrent app crashes on my Macbook 3,1 running 10.6.1 for the past few weeks. Turns out the error was Kernal protection failures with apps like iTunes (latest version), Grab, Carbon Copy Cloner and Super Duper. One recent report of a failure is at the bottom of this post. Thinking my 10.6.1 install had become corrupted (I had done an upgrade to SL), I decided to partition my 320 gig drive and do a erase and install on the new partition. My current install takes up 130gigs. I have tried using Disk Utility to make a new partition of 130, then 120 then 110 then 100 gigs but it fails each time at resizing the current partition.
This seems really odd, I came back to my MBA and noticed all my apps had crashed. Now I cannot open a single 3rd party application, they either don't open or crash at launch.
Any ideas? I rebooted, repaired permissions but nothing I open that isn't made by apple works.
I've got a couple of different third party OSX applications that are freezing/crashing whenever I click on an icon in the respective application's toolbar. The PID (213) and error are the same for each application. The system log reads:

I've googled this for some time but only come up with forums about Coco software writing. This appears to be a problem with my prefs or something given that it is spread across several applications.
I've tried: - Deleting related pref files - Permissions repairs - Reboot - Fresh reinstall of effected programs
I had my mac over the past 2 years, I filled it up. It got to the point where I only had 12 gbs of memory left. I know it is not good to fill a comp up, but a lot of applications started crashing. I got a 500 gb internal drive thinking this would help, but apps keep crashing, or "not responding". When I "force quit" them and restart them they work but it is annoying to have to keep doing that.
Today I have had a ton of apps crash randomly in SL. Safari, Firefox, preview, mindmanager, pages have all crashed numerous times. Is it just me or are other people having reliability problems. I know apps crash but I have never really had a problem with it on other versions of osx...
i am a graphic designer and am very familiar with most applictions but not the technical side of things. Basically i have a white macbook which is about 3.5 years old, it has been running very slow for some time now and fails to complete very simple tasks, for instance when opening adobe photoshop or illustrator, both CS2, simply creating a new document can take minutes as with resizing images etc. illustrator and photoshop will not run together, one will 'unexpectidly quit' word takes atleast half hour to save an essay applications bounce forever before opening beach balls at the smallest task apps crash

I got an iMac with Snow Leopard factory installed. I now want to update to Lion, but I'm not sure if, when I update, all my apps will still be there. I do have the app installation disc from Snow Leopard, will it still work in case the apps won't be there?
Just recently all of my Microsoft Office applications have quit working - they crash as soon as they load. (Sneaky lil buggers act like they are going to work and wait 5 secs after loading a blank template and make me a lil hopeful before they close down!) I have not added any RAM or made any significant changes or updates. I am on a MacBook Pro, OS X version 10.5.8, 2 GB 667 MHz, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

Alright I just picked up a new Macbook Pro from school today, and all my apps keep crashing, Safari, Chrome, System Preferences, you name it..... I've done a bit of search on the two codes I'm seeing and guess it might be the NuRam (8gb) I just put into it. Just wondering if there is anyway I can test the ram before I call them up? Upgraded my Dropbox to 100gb and started working with large artwork files directly from there.Changed the settings on my Airport Express Base Station at my office, which my MBP is set to try and connect to when possible. Remedies I've triedRebooting numerous times.Zapping the P-ram, which wont even work at the moment. Even with holding in the power button the MBP just loads to the login screen as per usual.Rebooting in safe mode.Emptying the trash can.Running iAntivirus to scan for viruses which came up clear.Repaired Disk and Repaired Disk Permissions.Run Spring Cleaning to clean System Caches.Cleared more space on my hard drive.Updated all software I'm completely out of ideas and I'm still none the wiser as to what the actual issue is.
Mac is running latest OSX Mavericks software.... But lately, my Mac is crashing repeatedly when I attempt to use iTunes or iBooks, both also the latest releases. Syncing with either iTunes or iBooks is nearly impossible. No disk repair or verification errors. I am thinking that there is some rogue software glitch that has me. I am thinking that I need to do a factory reset followed by a time machine data recovery.Â
How do Universal apps, actually compare in performance as compared to Intel binary apps? Yeah, sure, they're "native" speeds, but surely there must be some erformance hit? I mean, it DOES contain two binaries.
I want to install my snow leopard (came with the apple) (not possible ) i have now lion but need a clean factory installation...i have treid to use time machine (ther earliest one (before install of lion) after install of the back-up also lion is visible. I have tried the format my disc but that is also not allowed.

I just installed my 2nd Intel Gen2 SSD (80gb) for a win7 installation. I installed it into my 4th drive bay in my '09mac pro quad, but it osx it is not seen at all!isk utilities does not see it, how do i get this ssd usable?
I recently bought an iMac and I was wondering why installation disks are not supplied. If a re-install is necessary, how can it be achieved without the original installation disks? or is there a new way of achieving this.
I have been trying to install mpkg files. All the packages use authentication while installing. The system doesnt do anything after authenticating. I have tried it with all the installers. Somehow the screen gets stuck at authenticating. After authenticating, it does nothing. I am not able to add new user accounts as well. The same thing happens with authentication. Each time, it asks for password and then does nothing. I am not even able to unlock the System Preferences.
I am begining to regert upgrading to Lion. Safari is much slower. iMac crashes almost everyday. Never saw these issues with Leopard. I keep on getting the following message from iTunes, and if I don't quit it or force-quit it, I will have a black screen telling me I have to restart. Here is the message:
