I am running 10.6.8 on my iMac, I cannot get Pages, Numbers, iTunes to run for the last couple days. Also Word crashes as soon as I hit print.

I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
Does iWork 09 have an Autosave feature in Pages, Numbers and Keynote, as so many wanted in iWork '08?
Also, does anyone know if the equation editor can work with MS Office 2004's equation editor, or does it only work with the one that you have to buy off another website (can't remember the name of it)?
Today I have had a ton of apps crash randomly in SL. Safari, Firefox, preview, mindmanager, pages have all crashed numerous times. Is it just me or are other people having reliability problems. I know apps crash but I have never really had a problem with it on other versions of osx...

Just tonight it has crashed once while syncing to my ipod touch and once when attempting to access itunes store. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. My system is a 1st gen unibody pro 2.8 GHz 15" 4 Gb RAM. I was also playing music while the last two crashes happened.

When copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.
Mac is running latest OSX Mavericks software.... But lately, my Mac is crashing repeatedly when I attempt to use iTunes or iBooks, both also the latest releases. Syncing with either iTunes or iBooks is nearly impossible. No disk repair or verification errors. I am thinking that there is some rogue software glitch that has me. I am thinking that I need to do a factory reset followed by a time machine data recovery.

I made a task list in numbers. The font on the list is Helvetica 12. Now, the paper I am printing it on is 5 x 8.5 that fits in my notebook.
When I print the fonts that come out are very small. I have tried everything but nothing works. How come I don't get a what you see is what you get page?
I have a list of expenses and there are columns such as "Description, Cost" the usual, but I also made one named "Type" that is populated with either "Business, Personal," or "Fixed Expenditures".
I would like, then, to make another table that links to the first with three rows. Each one adds the total cost of Business, Personal, and Fixed Expenditures. How can I accomplish this?
I want to divide the expenses into expenses types and create a sum for each type.
Basically, it categorizes the expenses and puts them in three different totals: one for each "Type" of expense.
I am running the latest version of Snow Leopard on a 2006/7 MacBook Pro. After teaching myself how to use a mac, and how to maintain it, I wish to God I could go back and do full, clean installs of each OS upgrade...alas, hindsight is always 20/20. But thats for another time. My immediate issue is disk space: Using Space Gremlin & browsing my HD I realized I have 3 massive iwork libraries/files/folders. iwork '06, '08, '09. Im certain I dont require all 3 considering I only use most current version (however the previous two take up gigabytes of space). Is there a safe way to delete them? Will the papers written, work saved from '06-on still be able to be opened using the most current version? If so, I wonder why Apple doesnt just delete the old version each time you upgrade?
I have also deleted all podcasts and photos after moving them to an external, yet Im certain that theres gotta be a way to 1) combine my itunes libraries from my two user accounts (I used the same login on both), but have had issues combining songs on my most used account so I can delete the other library for space. After accomplishing that feat I would then like to learn a method to run my itunes and iphoto libraries from my external HD; if so, could someone please help me learn how to do so seamlessly?

i noticed that today, when i right click on a folder (to organize for example) such options appear in numbers such as N148 instead of saying arrange by or whatever. It looks this way with most options.

I use the Command 1, Command 2 keys in QuickTime Pro a lot to resize windows, but all of the sudden those key combos don't function at all. All Command key shortcuts seem to have left the computer.
Not reboot nor Repair Disk Permissions helps. Did I accidentally trigger something with a typo?

Every time I change the cell format in numbers, it keeps going back to 12/30/11 when I want 2/1/12. It is quite frustrating because I did what it said to do.

The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. View 13 Replies View RelatedI got my eagerly awaited copy of Snow Leopard last Friday and so far am totally and utterly disappointed. I dont know if its just me these things keep happening to but, the desktop picture doesn't appear for about 5 mins after its turned on (even though the pictures are stored locally) No big deal really but things like Photoshop keeps crashing when I try and save a PNG file I have created, Chronosync keeps crashing when choosing a folder to back up to. Basically lots of little glitches causing a screen to come up saying the program has been shut down and do I want to send an error report. Is this just me its happening to, everything I have read seems to be praising the new release but Im finding more problems and considering going backward. I know this is quite generalised but I dont know if its just my MacBook Pro or not.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy computer used to run fine on Leopard, then i installed snow leopard and it constantly has moments where it crashes all the time. It basically shows that wheel on any application (a usual suspect would be Firefox, which i've never had trouble with before) for maybe 30 seconds and then goes back to normal for another few minutes or it freezes on an application and it needs force quitting to get it working again. I can go whole sessions without this happening then other times i'll turn it on and it won't stop crashing like that. I'm on the 10.6.2 update version.

I also had the computer freeze with a blank blue screen when I came back to it the other day. In addition, now my computer will not go to sleep from a user login, but when I log out I can select sleep from the user login panel and that works.

My Safari has been crashing regularly for the last few days. It generally happens soon after waking up the computer from sleep, but also happens randomly after 10-30 minutes use (approx - I'm not really sure). I have been looking at various discussions and think perhaps it might be a trojan, but I am unsure if this is the case and if so, what I can do about it.

I am on the latest update of Snow Leopard. It seems that if I leave the computer to go to the screensaver automatically, chances are that it may crash. I haven't changed my energy saver preferences for months - so if it is related to that it's not something I've changed.Looking in system.log you see lots of messages at crash time of "received notification of WindowServer event port death".Apple, are you investigating? This looks to me to be a serious problem. One of my colleagues is experiencing something similar. I switched to using using a mac in 2007 and immediately found it to be a better machine in every way (usability, reliability, design) than my previous windows laptop. [code]
