My imac is contected to the intervet via wi-fi but I can 't load any pages on safari or firefox. Both my macbook and iphone have no problem getting online. .

I downloaded hotspot shield and immediately my internet stopped working. Wifi still connects to every available wifi. Every other device can connect without an issue. I deleted hotspot shield from applications and the problem persists. When i delete then re-add wifi in network settings it temporarily says no ip.

I just bought a new iMac yesterday at the Apple store. I connected it at home to install a few programs, and the internet worked perfectly. (I also own an older iMac plus a unibody Macbook.) I go to the office today, and the wireless and ethernet cables connect and show bars, but fail to load any pages off the internet. All of the other computers in the office are PCs and connect perfectly fine to the internet using both wifi and ethernet cables. It's just the iMac.

I stupidly downloaded and used ccleaner from the appetite and since using it my MacBook will let me use the internet even though wifi appears connected. I plugged in a cable from the router yet still no internet.

I just got a referbrished macbook pro retina and I'm having issues connecting to the internet. My old macbook pro, as well as every single other device, is able to connect to the internet without issue. My new macbook, however, isn't able to. Everything is typed in correctly as it is connecting to the router. Just no internet. However, there is one strange difference between my old macbook and my new macbook. The old one has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 while the new one has 255.255.0.0. The old one also has router information under the subnet mask, while the new one is blank.Â

I have a MacBook pro that I'm having issues with. It connects to my home Wi-Fi (the n version of the Apple Airport Base Station) and I get a strong signal but whether I use Firefox or any other web browser or internet based program I get a message that I'm not connected to the internet. I can even select network diagnostics and it walks me through steps where I choose my network, reset my cable modem, base station, etc. and at the end it says it is unable to fix the problem. i have a 2nd MBP that I use on the same network with no issues at all. This issue started showing up about a month ago but did not happen often. Most of the time it happened when I had shut my MBP down since I had to go take it with me to meetings. Often after removing the battery for a minute I could boot up and it would work but now no matter what I do it won't work.

Can even check email with Mail, but no pictures in the emails. Safari just keeps loading with no results. Can't access internet with anything. Ran disk repair. Even turned off firewall. Most of the time everything works as normal, but at least 4-5 times a day the problem presents and I can't access any webpage, tho it do says I'm connected to my Airport Extreme.
Same thing happens with my iPod, at the same moment. So it must be something with the AE, but I'm completely lost as to what it is.

Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).
I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.
I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.
I just reconfigured my adsl2+ wifi router and after that wifi gets connected and I can access the router but I am not able to connect to the internet .

I have a MPB early 2011 and I have talktalk internet. I have absolutely no problems with my wifi up until the last week. I can use the internet perfectly fine downstairs when I am in the living room (where the router is located) as I am typing this using it, however when I go upstairs i.e. to the bedroom directly above where the router is situated I am still connected to the internet at the wifi symbol is black however i lose internet connection and I am not able to use the internet at all. This is a new issue as before, I was able to use my MPB anywhere in the house without any problems. Â
I don't believe it's the router as my iPhone connects fine upstairs and we also have a MPB late 2013 and that works perfectly fine upstairs. Â

I just got a new MacBook and have been copying files via Ethernet from my pc. One thing I noticed is that whenever an Ethernet cable is plugged in nad hooked up to the router, the Internet stops working on both mac and pc. However, my torrent client on my pc continues downloading so it's not actually stopping, the browser is just failing to connect as is the official network status. Why is this?

2. tried allowing all incoming connections, worked once now problem still persists.
3. Tried re-starting router, this has never worked
4. There was a post about deleting a file, the person said they were instructed by apple care to do this, that didn't work either. Â
- Seems to only do this when the computer is on sleep mode
- everything else in the house connects fine to the internet
- this problem does not only happen in my house, it happens at coffee shops etc
- sometimes it is able to connect via tethering off my iphone
- this was a problem 2 years ago on this computer, then it was fine for 2 years and now it's back!Â

I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network. The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection. However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

Recently, my MacBook (purchased summer of 2007 and running Snow Leopard) stopped connecting to the internet wirelessly. It can connect to the net via ethernet. And it can connect to networks and other computers wirelessly to exchange files, but not to connect to the internet through them. It backs up to my Time Capsule wirelessly without a hitch. This seems like a software problem, not a hardware problem, to me. Why I can't get internet access wirelessly?

Now I am glad that I didn't - after installing on an external partition and booting up (and migrating my settings and apps), there is a big Wifi problem. SL sees the network and connects to it, gets an IP, however I cannot access anything on the internet, nor ping any sites from Terminal. When I boot back into 10.5.8 it works. Restarting the router/modem has no effect, and it does this at home and at the office. I see these guys are having the same issue: [URL] Any idea what's up and how to solve this? I sure hope now that this is NOT the GM.

This morning, while I was downloading some files, my internet connection died on me. At 1st I thought it was my provider and I usually fix that by restarting my Router. I did that, but nothing happened. I could detect and connect to my WiFi but I had no internet access! My wife's PC and mobile phone connect perfectly well to my WiFi and so does my iPhone!!! My MacBook now only works with Ethernet. Let me add that I have the 13.3" MacBook unibody running the latest Leopard 10.5.8. software upgrades.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI travel every week and each week I have to decide whether to use my tethered iPhone (not jailbroken) or the hotel Wifi. I pick which ever one seems fastest.
What I would like to do is combine both of these connections together and get better speeds. Or possibly assign one connection to one application (skype) and the other connection to firefox.
For several weeks I've lost internet connection on my iMac every day or so; the wifi icon changes to show a ! and is otherwise greyed out. My internet connection is via a relatively new Time Capsule (2011) which has an ethernet cable connecting it to my Sky broadband router. I moved to this new Sky broadband router in early Jan 2012 (changing to Sky as a Broadband provider) and it works nicely as a router. My iPhone, iPad, AppleTV and a range of other devices (including an Apple Airport Express connected to a Sky TV HD box to enable it to download movies) have continued to work on the internet without problems.
The IP address of the iMac (27 inch quad core i7, 8 GB RAM, fully up to date on Lion) disappears from the Network settings when the problem arises but the connection of the iMac to the wifi (and backing up to the Time Capsule) still works. I can even use a VNC app on the iPad to connect to the iMac on the same wifi LAN when the IP address has gone and the ! is showing in the wifi icon on the menu bar. To get reconnected to the internet, I just restarted the iMac and it was then back accessing the web nicely. Eventually the iMac would not connect to the internet at all. It would momentarily get an IP address from the router and then lose it again. I then tried taking the iMac to the Apple Store.
Various diagnostics run in store at Genius Bar and during the week and the problem (using the same account) was not replicated. On its return home, it was still not working on the internet. I then tried booting into 'safe mode'. This enabled a stable and reliable connection to the internet! After several days in this mode, I re-installed Lion and booted into normal mode again. The problem returned and has been with the iMac since. However, at least a restart of the iMac gets it straight back on to the internet again. I suspect some sort of corrupted network preference file or the like. But where? The disconnection from the internet can happen any time of day; for example it happened while typing this message but more often than not it happens when the computer is unattended.

I have a mac desktop. Just recently, possible since an upgrade to mavericks, it loses its ability to use wifi its clearly recognises as connected. The temporary solution I have involves opening the network and running wifi diagnostics. It always comes back and says it is all fine but it fixes it. ie the act of running diagnostics resolves the problem. Â
Happens every 10 mins or so when using and is now becoming a sore point.Â
I am not even slightly technical. I turn on, I type, I turn off.
