I have an Intel Core 2 Duo, imac 6,1. I bought it used with Snow leopard already installed. I partitioned the disk and attempted to load Tiger 10.4.6 install dvd, but as soon as I put in the disk I get this message : "Mac OS 10.4 can not be installed on this machine". This black faced disc did not come with my computer.
I reinstalled Mac OS X, Tiger. I went to software Update once everything was finished, to get everything up to date. After everything was done, it installed everything and then asked for system restart. I clicked restart. After it restarted it, it had the Apple logo screen with the little loading circle, after that there was a blue screen, then very slowly, the screen became darker starting from the top down, and very slowly. It then said I had to restart the computer. I've done this about 4 times, and nothing seems to happen. After it wouldn't work, I booted from a backup I made just before I reinstalled everything.
are the early models of Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo made in 2006 and 2007 (for instance, Core Duo 1.66 GHz, or 1.83 GHz, or 2.0 GHz, with 2GB RAM) compatible with Mac OSX 10.4.11 Tiger?
Can I run Mac OSX Classic environment on a Mac Mini Core 2 made in 2007?
I'm trying to add os x tiger to a partition so I can dual boot between tiger and lion. However, I'm not able to boot the computer using the tiger dvd by holding the c button during start up.
Info:MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.2)
I have a older mac from 2007 the aluminium version with OSX tiger, people are telling me not upgrade to lion on this IMac, but to snowleopard. do i need to purchase leopard first or can i just upgrade to snow leopard?
I'm using Lion and I can't run some of my powerpc programs. Want to install tiger on a partition (Extended Journaled type) made on Lion using Disk Utility, my only question here is: Will it work if I've burned on a DVD the installer of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Install DVD (PPC) and then run the instalation and trigger it to this partition? Or if this is not the proper way, which is it? I would really love to have both OS on my iMac 24-in Intel Core 2 Duo mid 2007.
I've read that newer macs won't accept this procedure I'm trying to pull out, but my actual iMac (2007) came with Tiger installed on it, but the install disk is lost, tried to find it but I never could.

Would like to sell my old iMac, but have yet to figure out how to wipe it clean of my files, etc.. Have old operating system of tiger 10.4.11 IMac is from 2006. Do not have OS X install disc anymore.
bought another (have one already) HP laserjet2100 with 600N network card exactly the same as an old one I had which works fine when connected to tiger macbook pro intel and old G4 with 9.2.2However when put new printer into ethernet network at first could not see printer but this was sorted using HP Direct and assigning IP adress on Intel mac. Howver when I print I get code on first page followed by masses of blank pages. To solve this I downloaded ghost and gimp printers and managed to get it to print. However quality is really poor when compared to old printes fonts are jagged etc. Any ideas to get it up to speed with exactly same machine?
How can I format my intell based imac without the original Tiger discs? I have a user account on it that I dont want. I have upgraded to Snow Leopard but I want to to start affresh. I have tried loading the Snow Leopard disc whilst holding down th C key but it goes straight into install mode.
I was watching a video on Hulu, and suddently I got a error that the website could not load. Since then, I can't load most pages (yet oddly I have found one page that still works.) Network diagnostics says that everything is working fine... and I can still connect to everything just fine with with my MacBook and iPhone on the same network. I have the same problem whether I am trying to use Safari or Google Chrome..
I am hearing a loud noise on the fan of the imac and it is ejecting a lot of air. In the year I used it it has never happened , even when it was hot the back. is it normal?
I'm learning HTML and tried the first example given in the course but it won't load in safari. Any ideas why? I've written it in TextEdit and tried saving in .HTML and plain text with no joy.
I can't load a CD/DVD into my drive as it appears blocked? I can confirm 100% there is not a disk in the drive. Interestingly I updated my software and the drive worked again (once) allowing me to enter a drive then ejetc it soon after? when i tried to reinsert it again blocked it!? FYi I've tried leaning my IMac on angles etc still to no avail.
new iMac 21 load from internet and install last update my operation system. after reseting computer - gray screen and animated icon, operation system dont load. safe mode -
i am trying to load ms office 2011 on to my imac. when i insert the disc it spins a few times then ejects it without loading. i have tried loading cd's and they load ok but when i tried to load a different dvd that had loaded ok in the past it did the same thing and would not load! i have checked all of the settings and they all appear to be ok.
I am new to mac computers but have an Iphone and a ipad, both of which i have no problems connecting to the exchange server. My IT guy said Imac cannot connect to the exchange server for mail. Seems like it should be able to do it. I've tried every which way but nothing works.
I was tempted to put this in the 'Safari' section, but after a little more trial I thought it went deeper than that. The issue is, for about two weeks now, i'll be surfing the web and then head to one of my commonly visited websites (namely Wikipedia, Google, Huffington Post, and this website) and though I'm fully connected to the internet, the pages won't load and i get the "Server Not Found" noitce.Â
I don't, however, have this problem with ALL webpages when this is happening to the others. Gmail, Facebook, Mediaite, etc. all have no issue and they work just fine. Â
Primarily I use Google Chrome as my browser. So the first thing i did was clear the cache to see if it would help, but nothing changed. So i opened both Safari and Firefox and they both suffer the same problem. After about 60 seconds the issue goes away and all things are normal again. About 10 to 15 minutes later, if I'm still surfing the web, the problem may creep back up again. I can't say for sure but I've noticed that this typically happens when I first try to go to those pages after a few hours of not using the net.Â
When this happens, I've also tried loading these pages on my iPhone and iPad during the 60 seconds and have encountered the same problem. Using a Wireless internet connection thru a cable modem.
I was using Safari on my iMac, but suddenly started to go slow, with the typical multicolor ball. After this, and because i cannot do anything more with the computer i tried to restart it, but never finished the process.
Finally I restarted the computer manually, but after that appeared a folder with a "question" mark on loading screen. I tried to start the computer on Safe Mode, and was possible. Then I checked the hhd with disk utility and appears ok.Well, i tried again to restart and the computer seems to load IOs, but finaly still on a blue screen with a working wheel apearing at times.
Then i restarted again on safe mode to try to do a new backup (the computer was going well, and i was so stupid to use the backup hdd for another use) but when it's only at 200mb, more or less, time machine says that there is an error and stops.
I want to use a disc with a Windows based application but it loads directly to Mac. How do I get Windows/ Parallels to recognize the disc drive first?
I have a Mid-2011 iMac running 10.7 right now.I partitioned the boot drive, creating a new space so I could load up 10.6 (in an effort to be able to play my older Diablo II and Warcraft games) but my retail CD version is not working. I did some research, and found that this is because my hardware is incompatible with the oldest versions of 10.6. What I am confused about, when reading through threads, is how can I get around this? Is there a way I can load up a newer version of 10.6 (like 10.6.3 or newer) onto this partition? Do I need an older Mac to do this (right now both my laptop and iMac are running 10.7 but I could always borrow my Mom's laptop for a bit since she is running 10.6.x)? Since I have a legal version of 10.6 I assume there is a way to do this, but I am not sure how to approach.
Basically, my iMac can't load [URL] on Firefox, Chrome and safari. Â
It first happened when I use the firefox address bar to google something. The web page didn't load and said "The connection was reset: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.", Then I try it on Chrome to go to google.com. The web page didn't load and said "No Data received: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data."Â Then I try it on Safari. The web page didn't load and said
"Safari cant open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."
Some of the basic application like textedit take much time to load (10 secs). Instead in Windows such application opens instantly.I am having 4GB RAM in iMac and I can see around 40% free(unused)
So I'm aware I have to reformat my Mac.... That's not my biggest issue here. My issue is I lost my snow leopard OS X while I moved and want to know if I could buy the $30 disc cuz I have everything BUT my OS X disc unfortunately.
