Intel Mac :: CD / DVD Won't Load Into Drive
Jun 19, 2012I can't load a CD/DVD into my drive as it appears blocked? I can confirm 100% there is not a disk in the drive. Interestingly I updated my software and the drive worked again (once) allowing me to enter a drive then ejetc it soon after? when i tried to reinsert it again blocked it!? FYi I've tried leaning my IMac on angles etc still to no avail.

Feb 25, 2012i am trying to load ms office 2011 on to my imac. when i insert the disc it spins a few times then ejects it without loading. i have tried loading cd's and they load ok but when i tried to load a different dvd that had loaded ok in the past it did the same thing and would not load! i have checked all of the settings and they all appear to be ok.

May 8, 2012Im using iMovie 11 version 9.0.4, and I have itunes 10.6.1, and I'm trying to add an itunes song into my iMovie project but it gives me a message once i click on music and sound effects tab "open itunes 6 or later to populate this list". No music from my itunes populates, and it should be automatically. Now, I do have the itunes firmware up to date.

PowerPC :: Imac G3 Will Not Load From CD Drive?
Feb 7, 2009After re-opening that giant graphite egg, re-plugging in the cd drive and making sure all of the wires were properly plugged in too, and getting a new kind of hate inside of me for apples quality of construction, I have gotten the disc drive reading again. However it will still not boot off cd.
I just want to upgrade to tiger and it won't let me do so, I can't even find the CD drive in the boot options. but the strange thing is that the os x tiger cd is selectable in the startup disk options, but on boot with the boot menu it does not show up.
is there anything i can do (preferably without spending any money, or very little) or am I stuck with os x 10.3.9 for the rest of my life?
also I'd like to do a clean boot, after all I bought the computer used, and it has a bunch of junk files on it that I'm too lazy to search for and destroy myself.
plus the thing still thinks its named after the school that used to own it, and I'd like it not to.

Nov 13, 2009OS 10.5.8 and iMovie 8. From a Windows background and still learning the Mac OS. Have started loading movies in iMovie which is eating into disk space pretty quick so i want to move the uploaded and edited product to an external drive. Is it possible to have all my movie files on the external and the iMovie program set to read them from the external when required? If so how would i go about that?

Apr 26, 2010After shooting dSLRs for years, I am now thinking of getting my first camcorder. My MBP has about 160GB left after giving 100GB to bootcamp, letting iTunes and iPhoto09 swallow they part and now I worry about storage for editing, processing and exporting video.
I have been thinking of getting one of those Western Digital FireWire800 drives. But is it possible to set up iMovie09 to use the external drive 100%? So in this way I can avoid having temp files and those massive AIC files on my MBP hard drive?

After much trial and error, it looks pretty good. So, I then press "iDVD" in order to burn a DVD disc.I get no response from computer...
Why doesn't Apple support burning DVD's from iMovie? Is there another, low cost software solution? What good is the iMovie product without ability to show the movie thru a burned DVD?

Aug 25, 2008My wife's MacBook no longer recognizes its built-in hard drive. When I do a cold restart it simply gives a folder icon with a question mark. I can boot into an external disk drive (10.5) but Disk Utility and the demo version of Drive Genius does not recognize any internal hard drive.

I purchased a Solid State replacement drive (Mercury Aura Pro MBA), however I cannot get it install Snow Leopard (Legal copy with a license). I get all the way through the install (Country, etc), but when it asks me where to install the SSD does not show as an option only the drive that has the DVD in it.

Oct 29, 2010I've been using my internal drive for iMovie files, but have been doing a lot more with the program recently and the folder has gotten quite large. I'd like to move it to my main external drive (a Drobo). Anybody know if there's a way to do this correctly, from within the iMovie program, to insure that it knows where all the files are? (rather than just moving the folder manually etc.) Is there a setting preferences for example, where it tells it where to store the files etc?

Apr 12, 2012I was watching a video on Hulu, and suddently I got a error that the website could not load. Since then, I can't load most pages (yet oddly I have found one page that still works.) Network diagnostics says that everything is working fine... and I can still connect to everything just fine with with my MacBook and iPhone on the same network. I have the same problem whether I am trying to use Safari or Google Chrome..

Jul 3, 2008I have currently acquired a few old Macs. I have got an iMac G3 SE with a slot loading drive. The computer is fine all barr the slot load drive - it has died. I have also got a PPC Mac Mini with a suggested logic board failure.
Does anybody think there is a chance i could replace the broken slot load drive in the iMac with the working one from the mac mini? i don't want to start opening the iMac up if someone already knows theres no chance it would work.
