View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a 15" powerbook and when you turn it on it shows the apple logo (grey screen) then when booting into Tiger, it shows a black screen with white text detailing drivers and things that are being loaded. Is there any way of switching off this black screen booting? I have even tried swapping harddrives and reinstalling Tiger but it still does it, so im guessing it has nothing to do with the Tiger installation / Harddisk.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I add my new Iomega Helium USB HD to my Macbook Pro running 10.6.8, the screen and keyboard all freeze. There laptop has to be rebooted. It does this when I do it standalone and when I use external screen, keyboard and hub. It is a problem with my setup because the drive works fine will all of the other Windows and Mac machines I have.
The cause was the installation of the Iomega software (why did I ever trust Iomega software?) as I only installed it on my macbook pro.Can I run some diagnostics/debug to trace the insertion of the USB device to see where it is going wrong? I have manually uninstalled the software but I am convinced I have missed something.I have a complete clone backup from before the installation but don't want to lose other changes (like email etc) since that day, although I am happy to restore specific files.
I experience this problem for 2 days now. The wi fi says it is connected and all the bars are full but id doesn't load a single page! Â
The internet i've got is vergin so normally is very fast.Downstairs where we have a desktop computer connected to the D-link is working as normal.Â
When I open the network diagnostics in mac it shows : wi fi is green , wi-fi settings is green, network settings is failed(red), ISP failed(red), Internet failed (red), server failed red.Â

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel based Macbook running Bootcamp (Windows XP Home SP2). Option/Alt key periodically does not work under both Mac OS and Windows. It will work for a while, then stop working for a few hours. I have all of the latest updates installed on the computer. When the Option key is not working, I cannot select to boot to windows, or reset PRAM to try and fix it. I know I can boot into the Mac OS and have it reboot into Windows. This has been happening for a week now. I have not spilled anything on the keyboard, and it seemed to just startup after a week of non-use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAm living in Malaysia with my MAC OS X (version 10.68). Our provider just replaced our modem because we had internet access issues. This solved the problem for about a day and now we can't access the internet. It seems that the network configuration has changed and although we enter the new password assigned we are we can't access.
We have tried 'restarting the device', as was suggested. We restarted the modem, then later tried, resetting the router, doing both of those at the same time, and eventually restarting the computer.

Nothing shows up in iTunes, Finder, or on my desktop. Shouldn't I see an audio CD in iTunes? And if I put a blank DVD into the drive, shouldn't it show up in Finder so I can burn files to it?Â

I turn off Imac, using apple menu. Sometimes the power button will work to turn it on, other times it won't. Been to 2 authorized dealers, they can't find problem. Sometimes jiggling or shaking computer will allow me to start using power button. Sometimes I open up case, plug and unplug everything, and then power button will work. Never know when it will work or not. Power button has had continuity check. It checks fine. Power plug is fine, outlet is fine.

I have an iMac 24 running OS 10.6.8 and I can no longer load .pdf files from internet sites. I can load them when they are on my local HDD. I deleted Adobe Reader a couple times and re-installed version 10.1 and then ver 9.
