Applications :: FaceTime For Mac Not Working - Sign Out Grayed Out

I have a problem with the new beta of FaceTime for Mac. Right now, all I can do with it is display a window of my webcam. I can't click on Preferences in the menu bar and I also notice that "Sign Out" is grayed out. I haven't entered an Apple ID because I wasn't prompted for one. I have recently checked Apple Software Update and I have all updates installed. I also have OS X 10.6.4 installed.

MacBook Pro :: FaceTime HD Webcam Not Working Correctly ONLY In Apple-developed Applications?
My sister just bought a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro?The built-in camera is "flickering," but it appears to only be happening in applications made by Apple, or at least ones preinstalled on the computer.  The applications affected that I have tested are: iMovie, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and iChat.  It's not really a "flicker," per se, but large horizontal chunks of the video will displace and often show up as green -- it all moves very rapidly -- very hard to explain, but it is definitely not normal behavior.

iChat takes the issue a step further: the camera preview in iChat Preferences shows nothing but a blank screen. The camera works flawlessly in Skype, and also in web browers thorugh Adobe Flash. So, I am very certain this is not a hardware issue.  It also worked perfectly during the setup walkthrough when the computer was first turned on and it had her take a photo for her user account. I've tried resetting application preferences by deleting the preference files, resetting PRAM and SMC, shutting down/restarting the computer, and I've applied all possible Software Updates.  System Information (formerly System Profiler) shows the camera under USB, so the computer is recognizing it.  Finally, we called Apple and they said to reinstall OS X, which my sister just did. The problem's still there.  It wasn't a "clean" install though, because all of her files and preferences were kept in-tact, so maybe that is why.

FaceTime :: Facetime Does Not Activate Even The Facetime Preferences Option Is Not Available?
My facetime was working fine until recently it asked for a login and this time when I did login with my Apple id, it prompted for email verification. However it is not able to complete the verification and keeps giving the following error message : Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again.

I have checked the support forums and they all point towards preferences. Problem is that the preferences option for face time is grayed out and I am not able to use them.

Applications :: Will Facetime Ever Come To Mac OS X; Desktops & Laptops
I now have a iPhone 4. Cant use Facetime as yet, and only a few people have an iphone 4, and they are workmates.

It would be great to be able to use Facetime on an iMac or even a Win PC with an integrated webcam, as I understand that Facetime is "Open format" for others to implement?

I would love to be able to use it with a Computer so eg I could use Facetime for my daughter when Im out and about on my iPhone 4, and she at home on Win PC/iMac?

Will this ever come? I know its only WiFi so far, but surely for it to work it has to go over cellar network and use Computers?

Applications :: Facetime For Mac Beta And Address Book With Exchange Account?
I've installed the Facetime beta, but I'm not getting any contacts listed for me to call.

I suspect that this is because I have all of my contacts stored on an Exchange based email account (in order that it can sync between all of my devices, etc), rather than being stored "On My Mac".

Can anyone with a similar configuration confirm that they have the same problem?

This is going to be dead on arrival if I can't call people - I'm certainly not going to duplicate all of my existing contacts in my Address Book to a second copy stored "On My Mac" in Address Book just to be able to dial someone.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: FaceTime Stopped Working After Installing AJA Drivers
how to get Facetime working again in Lion 10.7.40.  I installed some AJA LHi video card drivers and now my webcam/Facetime/Skype won't load.  The programs either crashes during load or, in the case of Skype, when I try to select the webcam in Preferences.  I have uninstalled the AJA drivers but it doesn't change anything.  I can create another user on the same system and Facetime works fine.  I've tried contact AJA support but have heard nothing back in the last 48 hours. One thing of interest is that PhotoBooth works fine with the Logitech webcam.

IMac Intel :: Mouse Keyboard Not Working So Can't Sign On?
The morning after the strike I noticed a message when I got to the start up screen but actually didn't pay attention to it. When I tried to sign in I noticed the mouse didn't work, same with the keyboard.

So I tried powering it off and on, next time I didn't get the message but the mouse and keyboard aren't responsive, all I get is the sign on screen showing the different people who use the Mac. (Have tried changing the batteries, that made no difference)

It's a 4 year old iMac (still running OS x 10.4.7 -never did upgrade I'm afraid)

Am really worried as I don't have anythign backed up (foolish I know)

I also have a Macbook running Leopard, that wasn't plugged in during the lighting strike and is working fine

MacBook Pro :: Sound Not Working - Mute Button Grayed Out
I just got a new mac about a week ago and the sound has already gone out. I didn't do anything weird, that I can think of, it's just not outputting sound. Whenever I press the f11 and f12 buttons to adjust the volume, a circle with a line through it appears. In my system preferences I put that I wanted volume to show up on my menu bar, and a space appeared, but there was nothing there. When I turn my computer on, the sound that it makes turning on still goes off, but no other sound comes out once the computer is actually on.

Also, when I go to sound preferences and hit "sound effects" the mute box for the output volume is already checked and it won't let me adjust it or change it. It's grayed out and I can't click on it. And when I go to 'sound output' it doesn't give me any options for output devices. Lastly, on my itunes, whenever I play a song, it comes up as now playing, but it just stays at 0:00. and obviously, no sound comes out.

OS X :: Function Keys Not Working / Sound Sys Pref Are Grayed Out?
I just bought a 2.4 MBP model a1260. When I got home i noticed the volume keys were not working, and then i noticed none of the function keys were working properly. (example, f12 shows an eject CD symbol). So, the keys are working but not doing the standard functions such as volume and brightness. I have check and unchecked (and restarted) the "use all f1, f2 as standard function keys" to no result. Some other wierd things that seem to be related are:

1. In the SOUND window in SYS PREFS all sound effects are greyed out. Under OUTPUT and INPUT it says no devices found.

2. When i go to the itunes store in itunes and i double click on a song, it wont play. Not only is there no volume, but song wont play. Its the same with my own music from my cds.

3. When i insert a DVD no volume control shows up.

And the last superwierd thing (haha) is that I reloaded leopard and when the computer restarted up after install there was no OSX music that normally plays as the video flys thru the starfield.

Applications :: Facetime OS X And IPhone Clients
I have an iPhone 4 as well as a Mac loaded with the new Facetime beta - after all the fun of calling myself from my phone to computer and calling a couple friends from my computer it dawned on me that when someone wants to facetime with me, they have to know where I am at. If they call me via my email address they will get me on my Mac, but if they call me on my phone number they will get my phone...obviously - what I am saying is that by having 2 places to look it makes it difficult to just "call someone".

I understand that this is no different than finding someone at home/cell/office numbers, but there are features for those to locate you - I wonder if Apple has addressed this or will in the final release? I think what is needed is a way for facetime to have "find me" feature. I think that maybe it could "ring" in to the Mac first, then to the iPhone second, or vice vera depending on how you want it set in your preferences.
