FaceTime :: Facetime Does Not Activate Even The Facetime Preferences Option Is Not Available?
May 7, 2012
My facetime was working fine until recently it asked for a login and this time when I did login with my Apple id, it prompted for email verification. However it is not able to complete the verification and keeps giving the following error message : Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again.
I have checked the support forums and they all point towards preferences. Problem is that the preferences option for face time is grayed out and I am not able to use them.Â

I wonder if with regards to accessing FaceTime on multiple devices. We have a number of Mac products (iPad, iPhones and Mac Book Pro) at our house, all connected to one wireless network. Some of these devices can log into FaceTime but others cannot (notably the MacBook pro), using the same Apple ID details. The error message I get is that I should check my network connection. However, the connection is fine, and other devices have no problems with connecting to Facetime.
I just got my Macbook Air back from apple repair. I went to go facetime one of my friends and it told me to log into my Apple ID. I logged in with my info and chose my contact info (the number and email I use) and clicked next. As I waited for it to load, it did but went back to the screen where it has me log into facetime.
Also the same thing with iMessage where it will not activate my account. I have had no problems with iMessage and Facetime before on my Macbook till now.
Just downloaded Facetime into Snow Leopard. Everything is up to date. Have not been able to open it. Keeps telling me that I need to quit Facetime and open it again.Â
Why do I keep receiving a "Facetime Failed" when I call another Mac Air and know they are waiting? Both are new Airs, and this app worked two weeks ago.
I have used facetime on my mac recently and have not had this problem until today. Facetime seems to have logged out on all of my devices but after putting my password in on my iphone/ipad it is back to normal however my Macbook will not allow me to log in. I also noticed that facetime preferences is grayed and I keep trying to turn facetime on and that is graying out as well. I put in my email and password and I get stuck on "signing in". Or I get past that and I verify my email and password and I get stuck on "verifying" only to get booted back to the sign in page. My OS is up to date, my wifi is on and working and I have no firewall on my home network. I cannot figure out how to fix this. I have tried some previous message troubleshooting such as updating the DNS entry to add 8.8.8.8 and that did not work. I have tried to toggle facetime on and restart but that did not work. I can't delete and reinstall facetime as it is connected to the OS and will not allow you to do that.
I just saw a T-Mobile commercial where they practically dissed AT&T, but also dissed apple because they specifically mention the iPhone 4 not being able to make facetime calls without WiFi. All of these IPhone impersonators are making me sick! Does anybody know when this feature will be upgraded so I can shut all these apple haters up?
Me and my friend are trying to start a facetime chat. We are both on our our computers and have wifi.In addittion we both are calling using are emails so we know thats not the issue.I've tried calling her when shes online and it tells me she is unavailable. She tries calling me minutes later and it tells her that I am unavailable
You can now download a FaceTime app for your Mac and make video calls to iOS devices.http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/f...#disqus_thread Wish they hadn't left PC users out in the cold. Hoping for a skype update soon!
Evrytime i use facetime i hear a sound, but the ohter party can't hear it. I hear echo of my voice or even the tapping of my keyboards... it's like a feedback.
I had installed the FaceTime app in my MBP (OS X 10.6.8) sometime back. But the mic isn't working with the FaceTime app. i am able to see and hear what others speak but the person on the other end is not able to hear me.Â
Im using FaceTime on a mac and all the sound and the mic work perfectly but when i play music either on iTunes or through youtube my sound gets muted and the person I'm facetimeing with can't hear me.
Interested in Speech Pathologists who use facetime for speech therapy. In particular, I am interested in communication issues with people with mental retardation who can access facetime, but have intelligibility issues.Â

I have an Intel iMac running under Lion 10.7.3. and cannot use FaceTime, which never worked anyhow, since it does not accept any of my 3 Apple ID's, which otherwise work perfectly fine. I uninstalled FaceTime assuming that there was a fault in it and tried to reinstall from the Apple Store, where it shows that I own a copy. But reinstall tells me that my OS X version is too new.
Info:iMac (24-inch Mid 2007), Mac OS X (10.7.3), FaceTime cannot be reinstalled
I just purchase Facetime for Mac and it will not allow me to log in. I've tried several times...created another apple id and that didn't work...I've even attempted to log in with my husbands acct info but still nothing.
Since 2 weeks, I have met some problems with FaceTime on my iMac.The video call starts and freezes after 1 seconds.I can see the person that I call but she can't see me. I've tried many things : reboot the iMaccheck the settings of my ISP routerdo all the updates... Then I remembered that I used 2 weeks ago (and for the first time) a BT Headset on my iMac.And then, each time I've launched Facetime, I had a popup error saying that my Headset is not visible ...I thaught it was nothing bad and each time I clicked it on "OK".So I tried to delete the Headset for the BT preferences and then Facetime worked again.
