Sep 7, 2014I have an iMac, early 2009 OS X 10.9.4. Up until a few months ago I didn't have a problem with my memory card reader. The computer no longer detects the memory card reader. There is no indication by the computer that the memory card read has been plugged in. I bought a new memory card reader (different brand). The computer does not detect the new memory card reader. I have tried rebooting the computer. That did not make a difference. I tried unplugging all the USB devices plugged into the computer. That did not work

Dec 14, 2008My ibook was running really slow, so i decided to get some more memory. i'm no computer expert but i used to work in the IT dept and have replaced memory before (in pc's).
Anyway, i went to my local computer store, told the guy there what kind of computer i had. (ibook G4, 14-inch with a built-in memory and an empty slot). He looked it up on the system, figured out what i needed and i bought it. It was a Corsair 1GB DDR2 667mhz. He said it was exactly what i needed. I didn't question him.
Tonight, i go to install it, and it doesn't go in easily. I got it in though, and turned on my computer, and it wouldn't start. i took it out, and it started fine.
I went to some online forums about installing memory on my specific model and people were saying you really need to force it in there, more than you think would even be safe, but it takes a lot of force to get it in, so i thought maybe it didn't work the first time because it wasn't in all the way. i kept trying, and i got it in further, thinking i did it. i went to turn on the computer, dead.
So, i took out the memory, and now my computer still won't start. NOTHING.
I went back to the store, told them what happened, and i spoke to a different salesman than yesterday, and when this guy looked at what i bought, he said it was definitely not the correct one.
He said DDR2 is definitely not compatible with the older iBook. He also said that he looked on his system to find out what type i really need, but the system wouldn't show my model (because its a few years old). Pretty much, he said that the other employee messed up because the computer wouldn't even show him what i would need.
But what i would like to know is what's wrong with my computer exactly? did the mother board fry? did i lose everything? do i need to send it into mac for repair? how screwed am i? and also, is the store responsible for this at all?
The sad part to this story is that in early august of this year, this laptop's battery stopped working, and it was a problem with the power supply. I sent it off to mac and they fixed it, but when it was returned, it wasn't turning on. i sent it back again and they said the motherboard had to be replaced. luckily that happened a month before my extended warranty expired, but this time, i don't have a warranty anymore.
Any insight on my problem? Please someone, cheer me up. Tell me there is something i can do to save my computer and that my motherboard isnt fried again.

it seems to me, that the Geforce Gt 120 (ealy 20009 Imac) is in fact an MXM III,M76XT+/256MB,GDDR3 Card, witch means, it�s an Mobility Radeon2600XT from the previous Imacs, just on an MXM III socle ( it would get better benchmarks because of cooling an higher clocks).

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Primary User Linked To Wrong Address Book Card?
Feb 16, 2012When I purchased my 2 Macs they were set up with my Apple ID. Somehow when I upgraded to Lion, which I did right after it came out, it change my contact information to show my wifes. What I mean is when I check Preferences > Users & Groups my Admin users ID shows my Apple ID but the address book card is linked to my wife's information. Of course whenever I try to complete a form on a site, it uses her information to auto-fill. We both have iPhones and iCloud accounts.I've had both these computers since OS X 10.4 or 5. They have always been correct till this upgrade.

Feb 12, 2010This morning, I had to print off some pictures from my digital camera for my art class, so I stuck my memory card (1 GB) into the slot, and it worked just fine. The other day, I plugged my LG Lotus into my MBP via USB and it also worked normally. Tonight, I tried to connect my phone once again, and it didn't mount. So, I tried the memory card in an adapter and it didn't mount either! My MBP isn't old at all (got it at the end of November '09)!

May 1, 20121. When I drag a group of songs from a playlist to a memory card iTunes adds a series of numbers to the beginning of each song title. (For example Misty becomes 09-2 Misty. Several songs may be assigned the same number. This makes it impossible to sort these songs alphabetically on the memory card. I can remove the number manually either by renaming each song in the list or by using the Get Info command. Either way each song must be renamed individually. How can I drag songs without iTunes adding a number?

Jan 31, 2010I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get a 4gb Memory Stick Duo to mount on my macbook running 10.6.2. My camera doesn't recognise the card when inserted and neither does my macbook. When I try connect it to the macbook I get the "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" with three options of: Initialise, Ignore, Eject. When I view the card in disk utility the repair and verify disk are greyed out as the screen shot shows. It says it is a 33mb disk when it should be 4gb and the SMART status is not supported and Partition Map scheme says it is unformatted. The format should be FAT (I think). It seems the card could be corrupted in some way or worse dead. Is there anyway of trying to recover the files, which are all photos?

Mar 19, 2008I went on vacation and tried to download images from my memory card onto my PC which has an integrated memory card reader. Unfortunately my PC froze for a few and when it finally came to (Believe it or not) I tried to cancel the automatic file transfer. When I did this I waited for the all clear to remove my memory card, but when I put it back into my PC it would not recognize it. It just kept giving me three consecutive pings. I tried to put the card back into the camera (Sony DSC Series), but when I turned the camera on, it gave me an error (Failure to read memory card). In doing research I was told that if I bought a card reader and hooked it up to my iMac, I would possibly be able to read the raw data and retrieve the images from it that way.
Well, The memory card reader works ( I tried it with a different Sony memory card), but does not even recognize that my card is even in it. Even disk utility does not see it. Anyway, as a man trying to salvage some dignity from his female companion, I told her not to worry, I would do my best to get the images off the card. I don't however want to spend an outrageous amount of money to do it. I have pretty good luck with Google and other searches, but I am starting to believe that I am the only person in the universe who can't seem to get my Mac to see the card. Is it possible to get the images off of the card? Is it possible to do it without spend an arm and a leg? Photo Rescue does not work and neither does Stellar Phoenix. If I could get my Mac to see the card that might be a different story.
