View 2 Replies View RelatedI have purchased the MAC mini with 10.7.3 and installed our software, but the software run slowly on the 10.7.3.I tried to remove the network cable, then it run correctly.So, I think maybe some system application will check the software on-line, that cause the software run slowly.I need to find out the system application and kill it. our software can run correctly on the MAC OS 10.4.x, 10.5.x and 10.6.x when the network works fine.

Just recently my 13" Macbook Pro started to run very slowly. When I search something on google, the spinning wheel will pop up as my cursor and remain for about 30 seconds while I am unable to do or click on anything and if itunes is playing in the background then the song will stop abruptly. Everything eventually loads but its just a pain in the butt. Before this i was doing the exact same type of things with my computer and it handled them fine so i do not believe its an issue of RAM. THis happened to me once before and when I turned my computer back on it just got to the gray apple logo and would go no further, somehow my harddrive failed.

I'm going to try and keep this as simple as possible. Last night I went to use my imac and for some reason every wed page I would try and go to either wouldn't open, would time out, or would load so slowly as to be almost no use at all. I reset my modem (I use a wired, ethernet connection) and everything was fine with the internet connection (or so it seemed) because I checked to see if I was able to torrent for instance and that worked just fine. The problem seemes to be based solely around browsing the internet (using both safari and chrome).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy imac has been working fine for the 5 years I had it.As of last week my mac had been running great. When I open up an app is opens right up. When I jump on Safari it opened right up. Sometimes I keep my imac overnight but let it stay on sleep on mode. Nevertheless, after 3 days of not using it when I cut it on everything started working slow. Apps takes 2 to 3 minutes to load. Safari takes for ever to load and have broken images on the site. I havent used Time Machine since the last week April, but when I left my mac on overnight (just yesterday) to update it, it was stuck on "preparing to back up". That's over 10 hours of preparing, and unable to back up. So bottomline, something has gone wrong and I dont know where to start.  Â
I read on a blog to repair disk to see if that fix the problem. In disk utility when I highlighted the 500 GB hard drive the only 2 option was highlighted, verify disk and repair disk. When I press repair disk, it checked fast with no issues. When I highlight the Macintosh HD which is under the 500GB hard drive, verify disk permssion and repair permission were highlighted. I chose repair permissions and its saying that it will take 1 day and 9 hours to repair. After staring at for almost an hour the progress bar hasn't really moved. Â

A new problem has cropped up recently with my MS Word for Mac 2008. Sometimes when I try to scroll, either with the scrolling wheel or by dragging the bar, Word responds slowly and jerkily. There's a huge delay between when I try to scroll and when the document actually moves. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is happening with increasing frequency.Â

Firefox hangs pages, won't load pages ect. It does not do this all the time, but a fair amount of it. I do not have the same problem with Safari, so I am suspicious as to whether other browsers are less eefficient on my Mac by design so that I use Safari exclusively

For no apparent reason, my iMac (27" mid 2010) has a very loud fan all of a sudden. PCU usage is not high.I already followed the instructions to reset my SMC... Nothing changed.I used compressed air to clean eveythingn I could... No change.

Our iMac is 18 months old and three times in the last few months the fan has switched on at full speed as soon as I press the power button. If I disconnect the computer from the power source and turn it upside down before reconnecting and starting it up, the fan will then work normally. Has anyone else had this problem? I guess the answer is to take it to a service centre, but I thought I would see if there is a simple resolution to the problem first.Â

It all of a sudden started opperating very very slowly, even when doing simple things like clicking the apple icon in the corner, it will freeze or take foreve to open. I have used my Imac for about six months without any problems.  All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours. Â
Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings. Â
I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vnÂ

My iMac has had a sudden decrease in wifi download speed. Upload speed hasn't changed and all othe connected devices still work as normal (the iPad still clocks in at around 30mbps and the iMac used too, now it's at 5.0 mbps). How do I fix the iMac? We have determined that it is not the internet provider and I have exahusted my ideas on how to get the speed back.

I have an iMac 21.5" Late 2009 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo 2. OS X 10.9.4. All of a sudden my iSight is no longer recognized. There is no open application using it. It does not show up in the System Profilier.Â
Some people suggest to zap the PRAM but I can't even get my computer to do that. It only chimes once and then stars up normally even though I am holding down the option/command/P/R keys.
I am currently using a 2TB external hard drive to access all my photos and music when working with Lightroom 4 and iTunes. My 2TB storage space is almost getting full and has started me wondering what I'd need to do to continue working this way. I'm assuming even if I get another 2 or 3TB external hard drive, I'd still have to select only 1 external hard drive for Lightroom to access... Same goes for iTunes. What if I have music in both external hard drives?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy iMac runs perfectly fine; more or less as it did when it was new. In OS X, when I shut down the computer, the fan runs at full speed indefinitely, unless I unplug it or boot back up. When running, the fan is perfectly normal (increases speed a bit when doing something taxing). I've never heard it at full speed before until this started happening. After following the SMC reset procedure with no luck (I'd like to add that the SMC reset only says it relates to fan problems when the computer is ON), I searched a bit and noticed there are one or two cases where a problem like mine was believed to be a motherboard issue, and therefore a costly fix.Â
However, here's the fun part. When booted into Windows 8.1, shutting down the iMac does not cause this issue to occur. It stays silent, as it should, even if I disconnect then reconnect the power. This leads me to believe it's unlikely to be a motherboard issue. However I've wiped, restored, and reinstalled fresh copies of Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Windows 8.1, and the result is still the same: if I don't want to have to unplug it from the wall, then I have to use Windows to shut it down.Â
So then, my questions are these:
-What is the difference between shutting down from OS X and shutting down from Windows?
-Is an operating system allowed/able to touch BIOS settings?
-Is it possible to still be a hardware problem, given this difference?Â
My default OS is OS X, and it makes no difference if I change that to Windows. I also did a PRAM reset, even though that has nothing to do with fans...

My iMac has just gotten all grumpy and weird with me, when attempting to browse anything on the internet (or even trying to access the router via 192.168.1.1) everything is ridiculously slow or just doesn't load. At first the speed went down dramatically - i went on speedtest.net and did a test, the page took a good 5 mins to load and after the test it turned out that i had a speed of 0.2 Mbps (my average speed on a good day is about 2.5 Mbps, shocking i know!) Ive tried turning the computer off and restarting it to no avail. Im doing this on my Macbook Pro which is sat next to the iMac and with a speed test is coming up with speed of about 2.2 Mbps, so its clearly the machine and not the internet/router. Ive tried using Safari, Chrome and Firefox they all provide the same, unusably slow responces.

I ran out of hard drive space. 7 gigs left out of 85. So I wiped and reinstalled, to try to speed things up, get rid of any fragmentation, etc. I have yet to install Photoshop, and I think I may have a few .plist files left to transfer over, but right now, with ALL of my data back on it, I have 35 gigs free. That's 28 more then I did before.

Youtube works extremely fast while NHL Gamecenter and Hulu drag along. Netflix also runs perfectly fine, and I can download at a consistent 5MB/S on Itunes. Also, my 5 year old PC plays Gamecenter and Hulu just fine. I have the latest version of flash player.
