How can I change my account password without using my apple id credentials to do so because that doesn't work. It doesn't prompt me to change my account password after entering my apple id credentials. It will not recognize my credentials.
I forgot the Firmware Password, and want to reset it. How can I do it? No DVD included when I bought it. All the startup keys, like C, N, T, D, CMD+s, CMD+Option+p+r, CMD +v, Option, and Shift, does NOT work. To add or remove DIMMs does not work.
Mounted to drive, booted into single user mode, yet trying to reset the admin password with "passwd" gives me a "cannot create session" error. Has anybody seen this before?
I have created user accounts on my iMac for each of my kids. Whenever we try to login to my daughter's account, we see the standard 'galaxy' background, then a flash of gray, then the background again and then that process repeats over and over. The DVD Player app is running, but I cannot figure out a way to kill it or get out of the endless loop. Everytime she logs in, I end up having to hold the button on the back of the computer to shut it off, then restart everything.
Is there a way to sign in to her account without having all the applications launched that were running when she signed out? I think that might be the first step to fixing everything, but I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a preferences file I can kill? Or are there aliases in a folder somewhere that contain the items to be relaunched at startup? Her account is managed under parental controls.
Have done something wrong and changed the password to start the computer. Want to change it with my Apple Id but it wont let me. I can type my Apple ID but it dont let me change it or something else. I cant start the PC anymore. What can i do?
After connecting my two iMacs for migration . I was not able to log into my new mac . The password is not correct although , when using the same password on the older iMAC it works fine.
Yesterday we set up the computer at the Apple Store. When entering the Password for the computer, apparently we thought we were entering one thing when in fact we entered something else. Now I can't log into the computer to install new printer software, reset/change my password or anything else. I have tried looking through the Manual for the iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011 and can't find anything for resetting the password, finding it in the Keychain Access, etc. The computer is a waste if I can't reset the password to install the apps I need on it.
I have iMac and forgot my log in password. Want to reset the password and not quite sure whether filevaut was enabled or not. i tried to use apple id to reset the passwor but it failed.
I have recently found out that my master password is not what I thought it was! I am currently running OS X 10.7 Lion and would like to reset my master password. There are two user accounts on the Mac - one being mine (administrator) and the other my sons (managed). I know both account passwords but not the master password. How can I reset it?
I had to reset my admin password. I am running 10.7 but had to use the snow lepard disc. i was able to re-set it. Now when i restart the comp, it shows my accounts with its picture, but when i click on an account nothing happens. The screen is showing my accounts, and the options to restart, turn off or put the computer to sleep. What am i doing wrong. I cant sign on to any of my accounts.
A few years ago I set a master password. I know the master password but would like to change it. I've read a few articles and it says to do this via System Preferences/Security/File Vault; however, when I get to File Vault, the master password info/screen/area is not there.
I initially tried the normal System Preferences/ Users and Groups approach, unlocked the window, entered my existing password, entered my new password twice...got this...obviously I have edited the image to remove my name...
Recovery mode using Lion results in a very similar message, a box pops up, etc. No go .So I try to reset the Admin password to have a new Admin login which results in the "starting a new machine" screens, etc., so I can then change MY password, etc using this... Boot single user and enter rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone But the system reports it cannot find the file or directory. So I login as Administrator (I have this password) and using the GUI, the option to change MY password is not showing. So I login as root (I also have this password) and using the GUI, again, there is no option to change MY password. As I upgraded/App Store via the network I do not have a disk to boot from.I do have Time Machine backups, so the notion of restoring Apps and personal files and folders after a complete reinstall is not that hideous, though I have better things to do like most of you. But really, isn't there a way for me to change my password using the GUI?
Info:MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), cannot change my password, ever
