I have a 2007 20 inch Intel core 2 duo iMac and an LG 46" LCD tv. I bought an HDMI cable and a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter but cannot get them to work together. Nothing happens when I click on detect displays in the system preferences.Â
Do I possibly have the wrong version on Mini DVI, for instance DVI-D instead of DVI-I?

imac can't connect to internet
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've got an odd problem, here's the scenario: 27" iMac 2.8GHz Quad Core running OS X 10.7.1, and a netgear router (connected to a Comcast modem). It sees the network, connects then drops the network. However, a MacBook Air running 10.6.8, an iPad, and a Sony Viao running Windows 7 can connect and stay connected to the network fine. This made me think that something with the iMac's WiFi card is broken so we brought it to work and connected it to our network (802.11x, WPA2 Enterprise, Cisco routers) and it worked perfectly. He brought it back home, still couldn't connect to his network. We brought it to the campus Apple store and they replaced the airport card and it seemed to resolve the problem for a bit, but now the issue has come back.Yesterday we did a full time machine back up, wiped the hard drive and did a full OS X Lion re-install and restored from the Time Machine back up, ran all of the Apple software updates and it connected to the WiFi here at work fine.Brought it home, still won't connect to his network. This would make me think that it's an issue with his home network but all the other devices are working fine.We had a Comcast technician look at the network and they found nothing wrong.

What's the best way to connect my iMac (2011) to my TV? My TV has HDMI inputs and my iMac has Thunderbolt ports, so I know I can connect them with a cable, but they are about 20 feet apart and I think that's too long for a cable run.

I have an older (white) iMac that connects wirelessly to my Linksys router. I bought a new iMac and I am unable to connect both iMacs wirelessly at the same time. I was wondering if the issue had to do with using the same Apple ID's, but I don't think that is the case. It seems like the old iMac is connected to the router, the new one wont connect and vise versa.

I've seen this question asked before, but it was all related to people who are running lion. I have 10.5.8, which I believe is leopard. Whenever I try to connect to airport, I get my network from the list, enter the password then I get a connection timeout after about 15 seconds. We have had this problem for a while now. We just got a new router this week and I'm still have this problem.

I have my iMac (2009 model) and MacBook Pro (2011) connected to a D-Link Gigabit switch using CAT5E cables.Switch is connected to my router using gigabit connection. Switch is showing gigabit connections for the link to the router and the link to the MacBook Pro (MBP). Link to the iMac only shows 100 mbit connection.
Cables are ok since behaviour is exactely the same when I change/swap iMac and MBP.
When I go the network/ethernet settings in iMac and change from "automatic" to "manual" and select gigabit, the iMac claims there is no network cable connected at all. When changing back to "automatic", connection is re-established but again with 100mbit connection only.

I've always had problems connecting to the Internet but last night my iMac refused to connect to the Internet. Everyone else in my house can connect to the Router but for some reason I can't - I try going through the network diagnostics for Airport and the first 2 steps turn green, but the rest remain red. It keeps changing from 'No IP Address' to something about a self-adressed IP address. I went into my network utilities and it appears that I don't have an IP address (according to that)? Right now it's just impossible to connect to the Internet.

At my work today we've had a new Mac system with Mac OS X Lion. All the other macs around have the version Darwin. Since I'm only a trainee here and I have no experience in troubleshooting with Mac.
Well my question is: When I try to connect to the openshare disk it says: "The version of the server what you're trying to connect with doesn't get supported, contact your administrator". Now since I'm a trainee administrator and the real administrator has a day off, I have no idea what I could do.
