Sep 3, 2009I want the non-existing window to disappear completely and leave space for the actual windows. I can't seem to figure out the catch.

View 6 RepliesWhen you bought your MBP how much space did you have available out of the box. My 80 gig hardrive has a capacity of 74.21 and I never checked how much was used when I bought it. Reason I am asking is, I have 42.4 gigs left and I cant figure out where all that space went. I can account for 9 gigs worth of itunes music and videos, and maybe another 4 or so gigs of other stuff. What about the rest? How do I check if I have a HUGE plist file or something?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm about to order a Macbook Pro and I'm undecided between a regular 500gb 7200rpm HHD or the 128 SSD. I've heard the SSD is fast but I'm afraid it might not be enough space. Typically, hard drives actually have a little less free space than the number it indicates. For example, a 500gb might have about 460gb of free space.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Macbook with Mac OS X 10.6.4. I have 500 gb internal hard drive. I only have 297 gb data in my documents but finder shows that my harddive has 472gb of data and only 28 gb left.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThe available HD space shown at the bottom of the finder window shows 650 gb and the "get Info" window for the HD shows the same. If i look at the HD in "Disk Utility" or in "System Report" from "About this Mac", it shows 490 gb, which is what it should be by my calculations. I have installed a new SSHD a few weeks ago but it showed the correct available HD space in all locations at that time. Just the other day i noticed the higher available number at the bottom of the finder window, Have performed a "disk repair" and "permissions repair" with no effect. Running OS 10.9 mavericks on a macbook late 08. 8GB ram and 750 gb SSHD.

My MacBook Pro recently shows I am using about 130 GB of its 233 GB hard drive capacity. When I add the GB's of all its constituent folders, I only see 75 GB being used. What has happened, and how can I resolve this. I've run Disk Utility, and the disk and permissions check out fine. (On my G5, everything adds up, and I've just noticed this discrepancy in the last week.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Macbook Pro 15" i7; the only problem I've had with it is this: every now and then my Expose/Space/Screen Corners stop working, and the only solution I can find is to just restart my computer (which thanks to the i7 is only about 20 seconds anyway ). Does anyone here have any advice on this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an i7 iMac and I installed Windows 7 on it and was wondering down the road when I move onto a new machine, how to I take that partition with me? For example, I use time machine to back up my Mac files so at any time I'll be ready to start anew, I can I do this for my windows partition? BTW, the partition is 500GB on a 2 TB drive.
I'm hoping there's a way to give the partition it's own hard drive when I get a computer that can handle multiple hard drives.
You launch Expose... you see a bunch of windows. How do you quit them/exit them from there?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes (not always but easy enough to reproduce) when I minimize windows (especially MS Word) and then activate expose to see everything the minimized windows look like this. I've got a completely clean install (no migration assistant etc) of SL 10.6.2 on a 13inch MBP. It's not really a huge problem just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I'm hoping it might disappear in 10.6.3 but I'm sure that is a long shot
View 9 Replies View RelatedSometimes with expose I find that I have fifteen windows/browsers open, and want to close a bunch of them. So far I've been selecting each one individually to bring it up, then closing it, then going back into expose to get the next one and do the same. Is there anyway I can just close windows while viewing them in expose without having to select them and exit expose?

View 2 Replies View Relatedif I have four windows open in Safari and hit Expose, sometimes the windows are neatly exploded into a square, with each window at a corner of the square. Other times, the same four windows are sort of scattered in a stair-step arrangement. Yet other times, the SAME four windows are just randomly scattered across my desktop.
I'm just curious how Expose determines how to scatter the windows, and if there is something that I can do to control the window scatter order and structure?
I'm probably daft but why do the windows swap positions in Expose? I mean... what's the point? There doesn't seem to be any logic to it. (But I'm probably missing it).
I go in and out of Expose a lot and find myself always hunting for the window I want - hard to do on a 13" screen. (Especially when I ain't sober which is most of the time).
At least the titling of each window in SL helps a bit.
my son got on my computer, and now when i use expose, as soon as I release the buttons, the exposed windows zip off the screen. The whole perimeter of the screen is shaded as well. I have to click on the app in the dock to get the window back, or on the edge of the window. It is very annoying. I can't see any changes he could have made in preferences. (He is not even 2.)

I love expose, but I often find myself with 10+ windows/browsers/apps open that I no longer need. It feels so intuitive to hold my cursor over something I want to close to highlight it, and right click it (two finger tap) to close it. But of course this is not the case.
To my knowledge there is no way to close stuff while in Expose. Am I right or is there a way to close stuff while viewed in Expose?
in mac book air how can we use external hard drive as storage of actual hdd.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere was another post that brushed on this so I wanted to start one just for this topic. It seems alot of people on here (me included) think that Snow Leopard has effectively ruined the functionality of expose with the new way it arranges windows. I barely use it now since it is much harder to find what I am looking for. For instance, my "downloads" menu from safari is now larger than some of the safari windows themselves! The question: Is there anyway, hacks or otherwise, to revert to the old style of expose?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to see if Win7 has a feature that all the current open websites show up like thumbnails like in Expose. The Win7 features "Shake, Peek, Snap" don't sound exactly what I am looking for. And any chance they have a general ZOOM feature like in Leopard when you hold CTRL and the mouse wheel also?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a 21.5 inch iMac and after using the expose feature for about 30 mins or so it acts strange. I normally use it through the 3rd 'squeeze' buttons on my mighty mouse but it happens with the expose button on the keyboard too. When I activate expose it chucks all the windows out but then brings them all back straight away where before it used to chuck em out n scatter them until I pressed it again. I tried changing the mouse and keyboard and did a software update too but no luck. The same thing happened in my previous 20inch aluminium iMac?!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to install the 10.5 version of Expose into 10.6 but I don't know enough about OSX to know how to make it work. I've tried installing the package from the 10.5 instal disks using Pacifist but I still the the 10.6 Expose behavior.
If people can get the 10.5, Base 2 Finder working in Snow Leopard it should be possible to get Expose working also.
This mainly seems to be a display bug and has been happening since the upgrade to Snow Leopard on my 2008 white macbook.
It happens about 70% of the time I switch windows with expose.
Is anyone experiencing similar problems? I'm not having any of the other display issues such as in the other threads with the weird shadows or boxes or anything.
Where is the F9 expose function in Lion that shows all windows open?

I've got an iMac with a 1TB harddrive and am trying to use a time machine set up to back up my harddrive. The external harddrive I'm using for my back up is also 1TB. I currently have about 135GB of free space on my iMac's harddrive and my external drive is completely empty. When I try to back up using time machine it tells me that the back up is 1.2TB and cannot fit on my 1TB external harddrive. What would cause the initial back up to be larger than the actual computers harddrive? Is there anything I can do to rectify this issue without me needing to purchase a larger external harddrive for back up?

I just got snow leopard and for some reason when i try to right click using the trackpad, it goes into expose mode. So trying to click right, besically brings up expose. Is anyone else experiencing this ?
