Intel Mac :: Can't Type Apple ID (At Sign) On Welcome Screen?
May 29, 2012
I've just bought a new iMac. Was very surprised, when I saw, that I can't write my Apple ID on the welcome screen. I can type letters, but when I try to write the "@" symbol, it just makes a loud short sound.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Can't type my Apple ID
When I started my Macbook up, after the gray screen with the apple sign, a stop sign appeared on the screen and I couldnt use my laptop as normal. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
the screen it got stuck on was white, gray apple sign spinning circle thing
and i left it there for more then half an hour with no progress. I did a hard shut off, and waited for about an hour and tried again. This time i waited for an hour, and still no progress. what should i do?

How do you type the £ sign on an iMac keyboard? Found an old thread suggesting Option 3. I have the new keyboard and believe the Option key is now the Alt key? Anyway, it doesn't work, I just get #.Â
I'm selling my old iMac and while cleaning the hard drive it froze. I forced shut down and when I turned it back on a circle with a diagonal came up initially, followed by flashes of that, a question mark and the apple symbol. Now it won't get past the grey screen and the flashing symbols. Â
Just find out that I am unable to type the "minus"sign on the keyboard no matter what I do, i guess there is some that blocks me to type this sign. However, I can type any other signs. Do you know what is happening?

My imac takes my password and then the color wheel displays. The screen cycles quickly and then comes back to type password again. I have shut down and restarted the computer multiple times.Â
When I turn on my MacBook pro I get a pop up saying that I need to restart my computer and turn it back on and every time I turn it back on it says the same thing
Every time I restart I have to sign in to apple id for every app! Since upgrading to Mavericks, every time I restart my MacBook (Mid 2010) or open any Apple software i.e. iTunes etc, I'm prompted (3 or 4 times per application) to sign in to my AppleID account.
I then get a prompt for all other Apple software i.e. iBooks, Mail, iPhoto & iMessage etc etc regardless of which app I initially opened. This results in inputting my AppleID upto 20-30 times for every restart. I thought the problem might rectify when I upgraded to Yosemite but it still happens.Â
I've tried running Onyx and clearing all the caches etc, SMART status checked, HDD no errors...I have reset my Apple ID and used it to sign in via Macbook, iPhone etc.MacBook (Mid 2010) Yosemite 10.10.1

Is there some security phenomenon that will not allow me to copy and paste my PW into the slot/space for Password, when I try and signin to Apple forums. The allocated space where I would normally paste my PW does not show anything being pasted,, and I have also used Paste in the menu area , and even tried dragging my PW into this area, to no avail. Of course, I can type it in manually,, however, my PW is strong,, and generated, and find it very arduous to type in.Perhaps a 10.7 feature?
I want to change my Apple ID email to my iCloud adress, the @me.com. But appearantly that is not possible yet. Is it just me or is there a way to do this? Or do I just have to wait until they realize and fix it?
I'm unable to log into my iCloud console on my mac (OSX Lion 10.7.4) - its giving error: 'unrecognized apple ID or password' and You can't sign in at this time'. Incredibly though, I can log into my iPhone, the iCloud's website and iTunes as well, using the same apple ID. I would like to keep my Mac, iPhone and iPad in sync with the iCloud system.
my 2006 macbook has not been able to start. First it didn't even have the chime, then I read through some threads in this forum and figured out that one of my RAMs was not properly put in. I fixed that, now I get the chime, the apple sign, and a spinning wheel and I am stuck there forever.
I tried:
resetting PRAM, didn't help.
start from safe boot, still stuck with apple sign and spinning wheel.
boot from installation CD by holding either the "C" or "D" key, it would not start from the CD.
Curiously, I can start it in Windows and I am using Windows right now. Some threads said that it could be a hard drive problem, but if I am using Windows, does it mean that my hard drive is fine?
I've already spent 800+ fixing the logic board in 2008 b/c of a water spill and really don't want to spend any meaningful amount of money to fix this 1000 bucks or so laptop. If any hardware is in jeopardy, I'd rather just throw it away. However, I would like to at least be able to start it in Mac OS once so that I can back up my documents.
My early 2008 24" has suddenly developed a problem - screen has gone black (initially it was 'black' with backlight on, now not even a backlight) The machine has Lion installed but it came with 10.5.2. I can access the machine via screen sharing & it all runs fine so I want to determine what is wrong with it. I dropped in my original grey system discs, pressed 'D' on start-up, nothing. It seems Lion no longer supports Hardware Test from discs on older machines. How I can run hardware test on this machine?

I have a 13" Macbook. I had a 250 gb and a 500 gb internal hd's already crashed. I just bought a brand new 250 gb thought that this will work. I was wrong. I inserted this hd and turned on the on-switch. The same screen I saw earlier showed again-a blue screen with a file with a (?) sign on it.
My iMac is the latest model, however when I try to shut it down I get a grey screen with the apple loading spiral and it doesn't shutdown. I have version 10.7.4 OSX Lion, all updates have been downloaded. I have resorted to leaving it on. I do not want to hard shutdown because this could damage the system, my old iMac broke after the hard drive was damaged with the same style of issue.
I just got my IMac. I have no clue what happened it was working fine. In the morning when I turned it on it just went blank turned on to a white screen with an apple on it and nothing else is happening.
