Oct 13, 2008When I started my Macbook up, after the gray screen with the apple sign, a stop sign appeared on the screen and I couldnt use my laptop as normal. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

MacBook :: Wouldn't Start - Stuck With Apple Sign And Spinning Wheel
Feb 5, 2010my 2006 macbook has not been able to start. First it didn't even have the chime, then I read through some threads in this forum and figured out that one of my RAMs was not properly put in. I fixed that, now I get the chime, the apple sign, and a spinning wheel and I am stuck there forever.
I tried:
resetting PRAM, didn't help.
start from safe boot, still stuck with apple sign and spinning wheel.
boot from installation CD by holding either the "C" or "D" key, it would not start from the CD.
Curiously, I can start it in Windows and I am using Windows right now. Some threads said that it could be a hard drive problem, but if I am using Windows, does it mean that my hard drive is fine?
I've already spent 800+ fixing the logic board in 2008 b/c of a water spill and really don't want to spend any meaningful amount of money to fix this 1000 bucks or so laptop. If any hardware is in jeopardy, I'd rather just throw it away. However, I would like to at least be able to start it in Mac OS once so that I can back up my documents.

Jun 26, 2012My Macbook Pro does not always turn on first time, it takes awhile to click on, it just clicks every time I try to turn it on, It turns on when its warm though, it also turns off when I close the lid, but the light says it is on, after leaving the lid closed for more then 5 minutes, and I open the lid it is turned off? I do not understand what is cuasing the problem?

MacBook :: Stop Sign At Startup?
Feb 8, 2012So, when I start up my Macbook mid-2010, I log in first, and after 30 seconds the stop sign comes up. I am able to log in as a guest user.
When I load up the install disc of Snow Leopard and choose for Disk Utility, I can see the disk, but it sais it is not mounted? When I click on 'mount', it doesn't respond. see the following screenshot for more info:Â Â

OS X :: Finding Allow Or Deny Pop Up Flashes Upon Start Up
Nov 19, 2009Im not sure why but when i first turn on my macbook a very fast pop up comes on and goes away. It has been happening ever since i turned my firewall on last week after realizing it was somehow off.
i have tried to take a picture and video to read the pop up but it fashes so fast i can read it. it looks like a allow/deny request. I was not able to find out what it was online.

Jun 2, 2014I recently noticed the Apple logo is magenta at start up, when it is centered on the screen, before it turns gray and moves up the screen to make room for login details. I cannot replicate the issue on restart but only see it when it starts up first thing in the morning. It literally flashes up for just a second or two then normalizes to gray.

MacBook Pro :: Does Not Start Up - Stuck At No Entry Sign
Apr 14, 2012I have checked Software Update, and there was two updates. First one was Java and the other one was EFI Update 2.7. I don't remember the Java update version. After I applied the update, the MBP rebooted itself as it should do; but the problem occurred at that reboot. OSX tried to start up three times, like as it was failing to install the updates after reboot. And at the fourth time, after a few minutes the Apple logo turned into a "No Entry Sign".
And it stuck like that. Now, the MBP cannot boot normally, I can only run it on safe mode. I have reset PRAM. As far as I read about the issue over the boards, the problem occurs to be an HDD problem. Yet I can run the OSX in safe mode, which bugs me. So I downloaded SMART Utility to check the HDD. It says there is 1 Pending Bad Sector, and 1 Removed Bad Sector.

Power Mac G5 :: Upon Start - Display Flashes Colors - Cuts Out / Goes Black
Dec 4, 2007I have a 30-inch cinema display and a Power Mac G5 (quad). Last night I was toying around by trying to boot an old 450 MHz G4 connected to my G5 via firewire ( I need to do some work on the G4 and it doesn't support my big display). So I connected it to my G5 via firewire target disk mode, then selected the disc (which has 10.2 on it) in the Startup disk preferences via System Prefs. Then I tried it and got a kernel panic. Alright, so it didn't work. Oh well. But now that everything is disconnected and my G5 is back to it's normal state (meaning the G4 isn't connected at all), when I start up, my display acts very weird. I get a few flashing colors blocks at the beginning, then it blacks out. Then when I login, it goes black again, then pops back on. So I'm trying to figure out what I did to my baby and how to fix it.

Jun 5, 2014 have a early 2011 MBP running OSX Mavericks. I use my mac everyday both at home and school. This morning when I opened the mac, the screen was frozen. I simply restarted the mac, and it doesn't go beyond showing a prohibitory sign. I have tried many things..Â
1. Restarted the mac, while holding the Option key (selected Recovery HD), after waiting for nearly 10 mins, the system loaded into recovery disk ( but the twist was, in the disk utility, my SSD was not found/shown)Â
2. Then thought the SSD was dead.. So asked the IT guy to see if he can retrieve the data (removed SSD out of the mac and he used an external hard drive enclosure and the SSD was instantly recognized, saved the data). Here I did two things
   A. First, asked my friend if I could mount his SSD in my Mac and see if the system starts. Even using a different SSD, my mac still showed the prohibitory sign.
   B. Then l installed my SSD into his Mac.. System booted as normal (basically it was all there, but on his Mac)Â
3. So ruled out that my SSD was faulty. Then using the internet based Apple Hardware Test (AHT), I found no troubles with any of the mac components.Â
At this point, I don't understand what is causing my Mac not to go beyond the prohibitory sign? Could it be something as silly as the internal hard drive cable or something more complicated as the logic board? In which case, they should have been detected during the AHT?Â

Dec 15, 2008A friend of mine downloaded leopard osx 10.5 off the internet, and told me it was a full version. But when i pop it in my MBP it comes up with the apple logo with the spinning loading sign at the bottom, and then the apple logo turn's into a stop sign, no disk movement no nothing just a stop sign. I'm was wondering if anyone can tell me what the stop sign is, i've tried booting it off my external hard drive but comes up with a folder sign and a question mark in the middle

Feb 15, 2010I have a black MacBook that I got about 2 years ago, running OS X 10.5. I had about 10 GB free space. It's been working fine until this unfortunate event. Let me explain.
I was recently working with my mac as usual (browsing the web, downloading torrents, reading an ebook, ect). I tried to load [URL] in firefox, when it froze. Nothing new, so I tried to open up force quit. Nothing I clicked on responded. It was frozen. I also heard some weird "tinking" noises from inside the machine that I had never heard before. So, I inferred I should force shut down. I held down the power button, and it turned off. I hit it again to turn it back on. I saw a grey screen and an apple and heard the"dinggggg" noise we've all come to love like usual. But, suddenly the apple changes to a circle with a line through it, which I've dubbed a stop sign. It just stays like this. I can turn it off, and try again and the same thing happens. I've tried it like 10 times. (I know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.
This is getting my adrenaline pumping, and I can't figure out what to do. Should I reset the NVRAM and PRAM like Apple says? I'm at a loss. Right now I'm using my friend's computer (running Vista ugh) to type this.

Sep 8, 2014I turned my iMac on (2008 model) but after 10 minutes it went black and beeped 3 times loudly, repeating at 5 second cycles. Shut it down by pressing the ON button for 5 sec. Restarted and all worked for a hour before repeating the same problem...screen and keyboard and touchpad all locked out....shut down with the ON button. On restart it gave me the 3 beeps every 5 sec with an ALL BLACK screen...no hard disk whirring, either. I don't know how to do cardiac massage on an iMac. Is it dead? Is it the processor? Is it the video card? Is it the hard disc?Â
