View 14 RepliesI have a core i7 MBP with the high res display, and when the display is showing black, a horizontal green line appears on the screen. It is only visible when the screen is showing black or another very very dark color, and the line is not visible with the screen off. It isnt something on the screen, as rubbing it does not affect it at all. I cannot post a screenshot of it, because it does not appear in the screenshot (it does on my screen, because the line is there physically, but on other monitors it is not visible).

I started noticing what I describe as ant-lines running vertically across my late 2009 27" iMac. I am fairly certain that they were not there before but I can't really remember. I did a search and found some discussions regrading video issues and vertical line anomalies but none like what I am seeing. url...It's noticable from a distance of about 2 feet and closer. It's not visible on white or black but midtones is where I see it. It gets really distracting at about 20" and closer, especially in iPhoto when scrolling through photos.Has anyone else seen anything like this and do you guys think I will have any luck getting something like this fixed with a Genius appointment? I do still have AppleCare.

Yesterday a vertical blue line appeared on my Mac display, which can be seen all the time but not when it is turned off.I can't make a screenshot off it, you can't see it on them.My Warranty just ran out one month ago.And I didn't used the imac very often, wasn't much gaming or running it the whole day, just using it for school works.Actually I am very disappointed of Apple, bought my first imac because I thought instead of a PC it would last 4 years at least.

I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

Recently, a vertical black line (maybe slightly dotted) appeared running down the screen of my iMac G5 (Power PC processor). On the left of the line the screen appears fuzzy while on the right it's OK.
Has anyone experienced this before? Hope to hear from someone who has.
basically i bought my macbook literally two days ago and it worked perfectly for the first day and it still does except for the fact that there is a mysterious black line on the screen that appeared from nowhere! i have tried restarting it multiple times and i have never touched the screen violently...when i take a screen capture it doesn't show!!! i could swear I've never even touched the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo today I noticed a small black bar on the corner of my screen. I tried to get a screen shot of it, but i couldn't, like it was off the screen. However, my mouse dissapears under it when i move it there. It is a little hard to distinguish because it is the 2.4 ghz macbook aluminum, glossy screen so it has the black surrounding it, but it is definably there. This all along the right hand edge of the screen.
Although there is a chance it may have always been there, I am not so sure. I think there are lines along the top and left hand sides, but they are much smaller. again it is hard to tell. I am fairly sure that there is none on the bottom of screen. Is this normal, or what? I have applecare, and I didn't do anything to my macbook. Although it is getting me a little OCDish, and is slightly annoying, and I know these things on the screen tend to expand.
I have an iMac 2.8 24 inch, about Two years old running 10.5.7 , when I start the computer it shows the normal Gray screen for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes all Black , but with a small flashing white line ( _ ) in the top Left hand side corner.
It just stays all Black for ever , I then hold down the On / Off button and turn off the computer, I then hold down the keyboard '' option key '' and press the on button at the same time , then I get the option to start from the main HDD , I click the Icon and the computer then starts normally , and every thing runs ok.
Can some one please tell me what I have to do to get my iMac to start up normally again , Ive run Repair Disk permissions but the problem still occurs . Over the last few day's Ive been trying out a few new applications, so not too sure if this has any thing to do with this current problem
I just got a thin black line across my screen. It was normal this morning.

I have had my MacBook Pro since November so it's still new. I take great care of it. This morning, I opened it up and noticed a small black line present under the screen. It has not been dropped, moved, beaten up, etc. It doesn't look like a broken pixel and all of the dead pixel fixers I have tried have not worked. Not sure what to do now. I live two hours away from the closest apple store and I cannot afford to send it out for fixing because I am an online student and need the computer daily.

I've had this iMac about a year now, and i have had this problem for a while but thought i'de leave it for abit and see if it heals its self. As sometimes the line is more visible than other times and sometimes it's not even there!
I have 2 pictures which i snapped with my iPhone, so i will link you too them.
The line is not majorly visible, but it is just annoying considering i payed 1000 for this iMac.
Picture1: Line overlapping my iTunes.

Picture2: Line on boot up.

I have only recently started noticing this, it is mostly visible on the white screen at boot up but just faintly noticed it now against my background.
It is a fading black line going down the left hand side of the screen, it starts at the top kind of fades in the middle then comes out again.
I honestly have no idea what this is, i will try catch a picture on my phone soon and post it up.
Cheers.
UPDATE: Sometimes the line is clear, sometimes it is faint and even sometimes it isn't even there!
i've got a little problem with my Mac Book Pro.
I have a white line in the display where I also have my dock. So it's not always on the same Display. You can see a few pictures attached that show you that this line is some kind of weird. Windows that are always in the front like "About my Mac" are over this line and if I open all windows of one program I get three of those lines.
The lines are here since I updated my MacBook to the newest firmware.
I actually don't know how long I've had this problem, as I just sort of noticed it one day (it's not all that readily apparent). The title of this thread basically says it all. There's a "fuzzy," thin white(ish)/translucent band that stretches horizontally across my 15'' glossy MacBook Pro display (purchased in early 2010, so I guess it's considered a mid 2009 model), about an inch up from the bottom of the bezel. It's only super noticeable on top of relatively neutral colors. I'm quite certain that it's a hardware issue, as it doesn't appear in screenshots. I've attached a photograph to this thread so you can see it for yourself.. the band I'm talking about is just above the mouse pointer (and clearly my dock is hidden so you can see it easier). If there are any hardware savvy people here, I'd be most appreciative if you could clue me in to the exact nature of the problem, and whether or not you think I could fix it myself... I think my basic 1 year warranty is still good, but I haven't decided if the problem is worth living without my mac for a few days (or weeks? this is my first apple computer, so I don't know how long repairs typically take).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bough a 2nd hand MacBook Pro off eBay & all has been fine until today when I was using it. Suddenly a green line appeared down the right hand side of the screen. I did a bot of research & people say it could be the GPU, but I know that this particular MBP has had the logic board replaced only last year. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the line has now gone.

when I woke my pbook up the screen had a horizontal line across it, and below that there is doubling and tripling of the screen image going on. Rebooting didn't accomplish anything and when I take a screenshot it doesn't show up there. I have a 12" Powerbook G4, running os 10.4.11.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that has developed a vertical yellow line in the display that won't go away even when restarted. It's like a 1 pixel column of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I think it's still under warranty. Is this something that can be fixed under the warranty?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed a white line (photo 1) on the top of my retina display (MacBook Pro 13" retina mid 2014) when I open the Launchpad. In other conditions the line seems to be absent. For example, if I run App Exposé (photo 2), I don't notice any line on the top of the screen. Is it a normal behavior for the retina display? Is it a hardware or software issue?
