May 6, 2010I am presently on an IMac with Snow Leopard installed on it. I found an old cdrom disk of mine that I burned a few years back when I had a Windows computer. I think it ran Windows XP Home. Anyways, I used a burning program called Hotburn to burn the disk. I burned my address book, several photos, different folders of various things onto the disk. For whatever reason, the file extensions on every file turned into .ink. So, how can I open them on my mac? I copied the files on the burned disk to a new folder on my imac.

It's in zip format normally and then inside that zip file there has to be an srt file. But when I download the file it doesn't give me the zip file. It just gives me a file without extension titled 1. I have already installed Stuffit and other extractors like unrarX but nothing works.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder Cannot Open Files In Volume Format?
Jun 22, 2014I had to downgrade from the second Yosemite beta in order to run one of my applications for work that didn't run on Yosemite. I've successful reinstalled Mavericks to the chagrin of finder not working at all. Whenever I mount a DMG I get "Finder cannot open files in the “volume” format." Also, whenever I click to open a folder or a new window in finder, it just crashes and relaunches. I'm going to try to do a fresh install of Mavericks and recover from a backup.
I also had to regain admin privileges for my user which I have done successfully.

I upgraded RAM with 16GB, and wonder if it is possible to allocate more then 512 MB of system memory for shared VRAM. Now system profiler shows 512 MB shared VRAM, the same like it was with 8 GB RAM before the RAM upgrade.

Mar 22, 2012I have downloaded the file ClassicsOnLine.app It was sent to me individually by the firm ClassicOnLine via YouSendIt. The app will open, but will not open one of its own files. When instead I ask that file to open with the app, the app freezes and has to be force quitted. All old versions have been trashed, and there are no traces of any old files that I can find on the computer. It reminds me of the old extension conflicts. I have used Safari and Firefox separately and get the same result from both.
