Hardware :: How Can I Connect A New IMac To Dlink DSL G604T?

Jul 19, 2007

I have just received my iMac (2.15Ghz Intel Core 2) which is running OS X v10.4.8 and I have spent the whole day with tech support trying to connect to the net, with no success. DO I need to download drivers for the DSL G604T to work or what?

Hardware :: Connect WAN Port On Extreme To One Of LAN On Dlink?

May 23, 2010

I've had a D-Link DI-604 4-port LAN 1-port WAN ethernet router since 2003 which has allowed all of the wired computers in the house access to the internet (I have broadband via a cable modem). I recently introduced an AirPort Express router which I connected to one of the LAN ports on the D-Link and I now have wireless internet access on my MBP with no problems. However I plan to also purchase an AirPort Extreme router to make use of its AirDisk feature and improve wifi reception in the house. From a security perspective, I am wondering if it would be more secure to connect the WAN port on the Extreme to one of the LAN ports on the D-Link, thus in theory being protected by 2 different hardware firewalls? Or does this not make any difference, in which case I should simply replace the D-Link with the AirPort Extreme?

OS X :: Can't Forward Ports On A Dlink DIR-615?

Sep 2, 2008

I just moved into a new apartment with my roommate and we got a new router - a Dlink DIR 615. For some reason, I can't seem to open the necessary ports for Transmission. I've been forwarding ports for Transmission forever now, and it always works. I've never done it, however, on a Dlink router - it's always been Linksys. Is there any difference between the two? Included is a screenshot of the settings. And to avoid all the obvious (I think) questions, I do have a static IP address, I have indeed set the right ports on both the settings and Transmission, and I have enabled everything (again, I think). I'm obviously missing something, but I have no idea what it is.

Therefore i figure out the NAS ip address from the DHCP client list on my router settings. Hence i type in http://192.168.1.35/ (1.35 being the address of NAS) and it keeps on loading and loading, yet nothing comes out. I'm not sure how should i set this up.

I hope you can offer some advice and prevent bloodshed. My son gets up, turns on the router and connects to the internet. A while later, the room-mate gets up and can't connect. The room-mate insists that the Mac is causing him to not be able to connect. Tempers flare etc. and it's seems impossible to do any meaningful troubleshooting. The room-mate insists that the problem only started with my son's arrival. Also, the room-mate is concerned that viruses are getting into his computer because of the Mac being connected.

Mac Mini :: Disable The Onboard Bluetooth And Use Dlink?

Mar 27, 2009

I have a Intel Mini Core 2 Duo (1.8x Ghz)I broke the bluetooth antennae connector inside the case while upgrading the memory. My BT keyboard and mouse continues to work, but only with the case open, and when they are very close to the computer.I have located a replacment bluetooth board, but before I spent any mulah to fix the problem, I am wondering if it would be possible to just use a Dlink BT 120 USB device that I already own. From what I can tell this particular device is one of a few that will specifically work with Macs. In reading it sounds like it should work without any needed drivers.

Software :: Dlink Router And ITunes Sharing Not Works?

Nov 19, 2008

I've been trying to set-up two computers in my household to share their itunes libraries with each other and I'm getting nowhere I've got both libraries shared, both ITunes related ports open, and no passwords on either side. Both are on the same network. So I started to wonder if it was maybe something to do with my Dlink DIR625 wireless router? I could see similar fixes for those that had linksys routers (something about a filter and checking it to 'deny') but I haven't been able to see some sort of similar fix for this issue - and I can't believe it is all that difficult to solve.

IMac :: How To Connect TV With IMac Through S-video Port On TV?

May 24, 2010

First i want to apologize for my bad english. Soon i will buy an iMac - the 21,5' version. I nave an old 29 CRT Samsung TV with S - video input, scart input and RCA input. My idea was to connect the iMac with the TV through the S - video input by using the apple's video adapters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and Apple DVI to Video Adapter. But when i saw the pictures of these adapters i saw that my idea is impossible, because the connection between them is impossible because of the 4 additional pins in one of the adapters - Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. My question is how can i connect my TV with the iMac through the s - video port on my TV?

OS X :: New IMac Can't Connect With Ethernet

Oct 9, 2010

I bought an iMac and have been loving it but one thing I can't figure out how to fix is why it can't connect to the internet through my Ethernet cable. My PPC G4 connects just fine. I've googled and found nothing that helps. I tried deleting my system preferences but that didn't help. It just says there is no Ethernet cable connected even though it clearly is. I can't try with wifi because for some reason anything running OS X can't connected to my homes wifi. Not sure if this matters but it's a 27" iMac, 3.03 ghz intel with 1tb hard drive.

I also cannot connect as a guest even though I have enabled the guest account on the PC. The PC and iMac are in the same workgroup. OS X :: Macbook And IMac Can't Connect To Each Other

Aug 17, 2010

I have a Macbook Pro, and an iMac both on the same network - both with wireless connections to a Linksys wireless router. On each computer, I see the other one in Finder under the "Shared" category on the LHS of finder. However, when I try and connect to the computer, I get "Connection failed - the server Mac 24 Home may not exist or it is unavailable at this time Check the server ip etc. This means that I cannot print from my Macbook Pro to the printer that's attached to the iMac. If I reboot the iMac, my Macbook can print to its printer for a while - and then eventually after 20 minutes or so it cannot print anymore - and cannot connect to any shared folders on the iMac. The computers are both awake - not suspended and both with virtually no CPU usage. I don't have any type of firewall running on either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. UPDATE I've done a bit of troubleshooting - what I have found is that after about 20 minutes, my iMac loses all network connectivity. Even though the wireless signal is full strength (yes, connected wireless), I cannot browse anything - cannot even ping the ip address of the router it is wireless connected to! I find that if I then switch off the wireless connection, then connect again to the network - then all is well again for about 15 or 20 minutes or so, until I have to repeat the whole thing again.

IMac PPC :: Why Can't Connect To The Internet

Apr 30, 2012

After more than 5 years of having to constantly reboot my router because of lost connections to the Internet, I thought it would be time for a change. So I purchased a new Netgear router that works great with my mobile devices, including a PC notebook I have on my home network. (I should note that while all the other devices on my home network would lose their connection, the iMac somehow never did.)

However, when it came time to connect my iMac G4 I ran into some trouble. The iMac recognizes the new router and the WiFi signal strength is perfect, but I was unable to connect to the Internet. I opened the Network utility in Preferences to try to check the settings, and the following error message appeared:

<<Your network settings have been changed by another application.>>

What happens is, even though I click OK to clear the message, it keeps on reappearing on an endless loop; the only way out is to Force Quit the Network utility. Although this problem occurred with my older router, I was still able to connect to the Web; now I can't.
