I've been assembling a want list for features wanted in a MP3 player. Unfortunately Apple comes up near the bottom offering almost nothing that I need. So I'm looking farther afield. If you have a 13" 2010 MacBook Air with the SD card slot, and you are looking for a card to expand the capacity of your MacBook Air, what is the max capacity card currently available that you can use in this slot. I hear that they have new cards with capacities of up to 2TB, but are these cards compatible with the SD card slot on the MacBook Air? (SDXC 2TB cards)

So the time has come that I bought a 5D Mark II and have begun editing a lot of HD footage, and my Mac Pro's current hard drive setup will not suffice. My current setup: Bay 1 = WD Raptor X 150GB 10,000RPM (OS, Final Cut Studio 2, Adobe CS3, etc) Bay 2 = Apple-supplied WD 320GB 7200RPM (Music/iPhoto libraries, small Windows partition) Bay 3 = Samsung Spinpoint 500GB 7200RPM (Media dump/scratch disk for editing, as well as my spillover Applications folder, etc) Bay 4 = Empty I'm looking to revamp this setup, as I'm struggling in many ways. First off, my main boot drive being the Raptor 10,000RPM was a dumb idea. Yes, it is faster, but I can't install the full OS X, FCS2, CS3 packages and my regular cornucopia of apps without leaving ~1-5GB free. I feel that this kills any speed gain because the drive is full to the brim, and for such a minimal speed increase I'm working with a very very low ceiling of free space. I'm considering ditching this and going with a bigger 7200rpm drive so I don't have to worry about running with a filled up drive again. Here's my idea. I was thinking of getting a 1 or 1.5TB 7200RPM drive to run the OS on and also store my footage, keep all my applications, downloads, etc. Then I could move my 150GB Raptor X out to bay 4 and make that my project scratch disk for video editing(not sure it'd be big enough for larger projects). And then if I had any money left, I would axe the 320 and put another 1TB in its place. Or I could save money and get that new nVidia card for the Mac Pro (I still have the stock HD2600).
I boot windows and play games, but rarely. Would this upgraded video card help with video editing or rendering effects significantly enough to justify the ~$400 pricetag? Or should I save my money and buy camera equipment? More importantly, any recommendations for the quickest/most reliable 1-1.5TB drive out there? or should I avoid them? I don't want to spend a ton of money so I'm not looking to do expensive RAID setups or anything, i'm not editing uncompressed.
I recently purchased a Mac Book Pro. I have had a PC for years. I've discovered that Apple doesn't allow flash player and I have membership in two greeting card websites. Now that I've already paid a yearly membership in both, I'm out of the money and I can't send cards.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an old PowerMac G4 7400 (450 Mhz) and I'd like to use it to replace an old Micron PC I'm using as a file server. My question is, what is the largest size HD I can install in it? I checked Mactracker and it said it only supported up to 128 GB per drive. But I didn't know if this was related to the OS at the time or whether it was a hardward limitation. If I'm running Tiger on it would it support a larger 500GB drive? If it is a hardware limitation I guess I could always add a couple external firewire drives. Let me know if this should have been posted in the "collectible forum".

I remember that there was a program that sorted all of your huge files where you can look, edit, delete, do whatever you want with them, but I have forgotten what this program is called. I've looked all over and cannot find it. Does anyone have an idea of what it is called or maybe how I could locate huge files on my HD?

I edit large MP2 video files and sometimes it's hard to remember where they all live... this tool was useful because MP2 files are so large, they often are the biggest files on my machine.

Will an 80gb hard drive work?? because I thought that they are only capable of 6gb hard drives, or is that the default controller for the Blue & White Power Macintosh Desktop?? And also am I correct in thinking that if this hard drive will work for this Bronze Keyboard, I will have to partition it for every OS I have on it. ?? However, if you make the font size too big it slips onto a second page and it will only fill half a page at its largest. For example, I want the letter 'S' to fill a whole A4 page then the letter 'T' then 'B' etc. I will then print then out and stick them on the banner.

Another five are related to features in Mac OS X Server that are missing in the desktop version.

However, the most security vulnerabilities by far are associated with the Adobe Flash plugin, with a whopping 55 issues listed, the "most serious of which may lead to arbitrary code execution," Apple reports in its Apple Product Security update.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was just thinking about the stuff I have on my HD, and I'm not really sure what is eating up the 500gb HD I have installed in it (with only 50gb or so available at the moment). The usual culprits (iTunes and iPhoto library) are both on externals.
And i don't *think* I've got nearly 450gb worth of audio work on here.
So my question is, is there an application that will scan through my system HD and tell me which olders/files are taking up the most space? This may give me some idea of what I should start getting rid of.
have in the past few weeks uprgraded from tiger to leopard.Everything has been ok but i think i might have deleted some vital part of Quicktime player when i tried to clean up.I only realised this when i decided to get Quicktime player pro which i have paid for and have the key..I have tried to download quicktime from apple support website and just about any other website for that matter but zero.zilch.Installer takes me through the process but i get no player.
I have tried to remove all components of quicktime but to no avail.the download intalls but goes nowhere.Have tried to maybe 'jumpstart' it by double clicking quicktime time movies but there is just nothing going on.

Digital movies play just fine on my camera, a NIkon Coolpix but once I import them to either quicktime or windows media player they do not play smoothly. Any ideas why or what I can do to correct this?

Looks like my company upgrade got postponed for a few months due to budget constraints. As a short-term boost I'm looking at getting an SSD, but I'm a little worried about the capacity.
I currently have a 320 GB drive and have been able to get by usage down to 93 GB. Will I need to worry about leaving headroom with a 120 GB SSD drive?
