Hardware :: Importing Audio From 4-track Tape Recorder?
Jun 18, 2009
I have an old 4-track tape recorder with 4 outputs, which I would like to connect to a Mac and import all 4 tracks at once to GarageBand for editing. I've seen USB adapters that have two RCA inputs, and am thinking that if I purchased and connected 2 of these adapters, I would be able to run them simultaneously.
I have a 1998 VHS tape of a family event I want to import into either iDVD or iMovie. I have a VHS player with both audio & tape banana plugs and the "S" connector. I have a digital Sony movie camera (about 8 years old) and it doesn't have AV & Vid inputs or an S input, only outputs. Is there any way to do this with this equipment? I would like to put the tape on a thumb drive or burn it onto a double layer DVD.
I've been doing some searching and can't find any threads regarding capturing audio (cassette tape) to a mac. Wanted to rip some old school tunes from some tapes and convert to MP3. I connected an old tape deck to my G5 via ADS Pyro A/V Link (RCA audio input to Pyro, firewire connection out to G5), that doesn't seem to work. I've also tried connecting to my iMic USB, but that's not picking up any audio either. I've tried using QT audio recording, iMovie, FCP, and Analogue Ripper with no luck. They recognize the Pyro and iMic, but not picking up audio.
Information: G5 Dual 1.8Ghz (Q37), 4.5GB ram, Pioneer 112D burner (internal) Mac OS X (10.4.10) 320GB + 500GB SATA HDDs, Radeon 9600 Pro Mac 256MB, LaCie firewire burner (ext)
The audio and video are out of sync after importing to FCP 10.1 from my mini DV tape source. The audio and video are in sync coming out of the tape deck but they are out of sync by over a second in FCP. How to correct this?
When importing CDs track names no longer are found. This is a problem that has just begun. I use iTunes to download audio books to my computer and then move them to my mp3 player. I can enter the name of the CD and the disk number, myself, but on importing the track names are listed as track 01 etc. That means when put the book on my mp3 player I can only load one disk at a time or the first disk is overwritten by the second, etc.
I've never had this problem. The last time I downloaded a CD was August 2014. When I tried to import two weeks ago, all of a sudden the track names were not there.
I have a Macbook air; OSX 10.9.5; iTunes 12.01.26
I thought perhaps that there had been an update during the 3 months I had not been importing, but I don't know how to check on updates. I've queried this site and found that over the years people have had this problem, but I didn't understand their solutions (all were on earlier versions of iTunes).
I have been importing my large music CD collection and midway through, I have noticed that the first track of EVERY disc has NOT been copied to my library. The remaining tracks (Track 2 and up) were imported fine. When each CD was importing, everything looked normal and I got a green checkmark next to the first track. What's even more bizarre is that now, I cannot recreate this problem because iTunes imports the first track of every CD as normal. What the heck?! I'm going to have to re-import the first track of every disc now... Did a Google search and got nothing. I'm running the latest, up-to-date iTunes (v9.2) and Mac OS X (v10.6.4).
I have a MacBook Pro 15" - Model A1226 (Santa Rosa, circa 2007). I need to replace my right fan. AppleCare just expired (of course). But replacing the fan should be pretty easy, I think.
The only question is about the tape securing the fan to the heatsink. On the old fan it looks like electrical tape, but on the "sticky" side, it looks like there is a bit of copper (?) in the middle.
So my assumption is that regular old electrical tape is not appropriate, but some special kind of electrical tape. What type of tape is that?
I want to extract the audio track ONLY off a music/concert DVD. I only want 2 channels (stereo 16/44.1) for now. I have a program (Extract Movie Sountrack) that will convert the compressed 320kbp Handbrake exported mpeg-4 file to AIFF so I can import into iTunes but I want an app that will do it uncompressed.
I was wondering whether anyone out there knows how to turn the mac automated speech voices to an audio track that can be used in a video. By the automated speech I mean the ones where you can type in what you want it to say, you can choose a voice, (I think one is called alex), then right click and click start speaking. I want to use this as an audio track in a video.
what format I can input my videos into iMovie so that the video and audio can be separated? Or is this not possible in iMovie? Also what formats can I use to import into iMovie, I have only been successful with MPEG-4, .avi or MPEG-2 does not work.
I was trying to sum that title up as best as I could. I'm looking for an audio program that will allow me to take one long audio track, separate it by markers (or something), and export/burn to CD (each marker would represent an individual track). The Wavelab program has this feature, but Wavelab is PC based so I can't use it =( Anyone know of anything?
I've seen it many times around on internet, but it is driving me ABSOLUTELY MAD. After importing audio/video on iTunes (plus copy into iTunesLibrary), the file automatically starts playing. It is annoying me more and more, I can not seem to turn the function off. iTunes seems to be defaulted nowadays to start autoplay after importing music or video into iTunes~?
If I have a video track with multiple alternate audio tracks (say different languages), can a user select the audio track of his choice and play in Quick time?
When inserting an audio cd to import into my itunes library the audio cd is labeled only as track 1, track 2, etc. there is no album info, artist name, artwork.
I have Final Cut Express 4 running on an iMac with Leopard 10.3.5. The problem I have is I cannot hear a music track & the sound track on the film clip at the same time when I run the clip. I only hear the clip sound track until it finishes then the music track plays. If I drag the scrubber bar along the time line I can hear both the music & the Clip sound track together. This only happens when I logon to the Mac as an Administrator. (I have never managed to hear both sound tracks together whilst logged on as Administrator.)
In desperation I created a user account on my iMac. If I logon as a user Final Cut Express 4 works ok ? I hear both sound tracks together when I play the clip. Any ideas how I can make the Administrator account work as the User account does? As the iMac is only used by myself I don?t need any user accounts.
i just bought it and am having a little trouble exporting a track i made. i didnt do much to it, just cut it and can not figure out how to export. i go to the export option and then try and save it to the desktop but it is not there when i go to find it
I'm still new to macs and am wondering what software I can use to record/download streams, I want to record a radio show from a website and am not sure what to use, I know you can use Orbit Downloader on windows but don't know for macs.
This weekend i end up with my father's LG dvd/hdd recorder. What i recall it has 80Gb of hdd. My idea was to connect it to the t.v and the iMac. The iMac part was basicaly to transfer the movies to the LG hdd
This is the model: LG RH7500
And the connections specs:
SCART Connectors: Output x 2 Outputs: Composite x 1, Component x 1, Analog Audio x 1, Digital Audio Coaxial x 1, Digital Audio Optical x 1
Front Panel: Composite Input / S-Video Input / iLINK DV Input
I've been searching the online apple store for cables and saw some, but don't know if this is possible to do, and if it is, what cables i have to buy.
PS: about the dvd/hdd recorder model, i don't know if this is the one, i have to get home to make sure. will post it here later.
PS2: probably many of you will say "- why don't get apple tv, or another multimedia hdd." That's easy, shoooooooort of money lolol, this way i recycle what i have, later i might put a bigger hdd. time will tell.
Heres a site that has a good Mac mouse and keyboard recorder application.[URL]
The 4.0 version and above will record right clicks. You can try their free version or buy a product code to use it without a time limit. There are other Mac based products there to.
The mouse recorder does have problems with its right click for using on safari and other applications.
The site is currently under construction so the downloads are unavailable.
If you have found a better recorder then this one, post here or on this site, I will be looking.
I am looking for advice on a screen recorder program that enables me to capture and store avi files. I have some videos on quicktime that I would like to record and view again.
I am looking for a good quality/fast free screen capture video recorder software for my iMac that I can record things on my screen.
I require a software that is resizable to your specific dimensions that you require recording of.
For example, if you only wanted to capture and record a section in Pages, you would be able to click and drag how much area you wish to record.
I have tried both "Capture Me" and "Copernicus", but I had issues with both. Copernicus seems to let me click and drag the surface area I wish (then nothing else besides a viewfinder preview window pops up), then when I hit record it might record a second or two and then shut off... or maybe that was on Capture Me, I cannot remember right now...
Does anyone have a good video screen capture software? I really liked the Hypercam on Windows, but that had a water mark that needed to be paid to remove...
When I look at Toast settings, it says that there's no recorder.
When I press eject on the keyboard, it doesn't.
But when I press alt, command ... I and O (on restart) it opens.
If I need to reinstall the DVD driver, how do I do this please? (Because I inherited this Mac from my previous company; and don't have any software cds).
I have an Olympus voice recorder that said it would work on my Mac but it doesn't. So I use it on a pc. But my iTunes is on my Mac and I'd really like to get a recording off of the recorder and into iTunes. I tried mailing the recording from a pc, opening and downloading it on my Mac but it comes up as garbled text.
