Mac Pro :: Dell 2408WFP Color Calibration?
Jun 25, 2008I have a Dell 2408WFP on the way, as well as a Mac Pro 2.8 with the HD 2600XT, at long last!
The 2408 was recommended by several users of this site, so I wanted to see if you would be willing to share your calibration settings for the monitor?
I've read here about the important task of recalibrating this monitor and soaked up as much knowledge as a I could (as he does get into his settings a little bit).
Since it seems some of you would have a very similar system to me , I was hoping you could help take a little of the pain out of calibrating it (without an external device) and share all relevant settings with me (monitor settings, color profile, graphics card settings, etc.)
Hardware :: Dell 3008wfp Display Calibration
Apr 23, 2010Just curious if someone could post their display settings (or icc file) for the dell 3008wfp. I'm having a hard time calibrating the monitor without a dedicated calibration device like spyder.
I realize there can be monitor to monitor variations but for my non-professional purposes I'd like to just get it close.
My two concerns:
1) Brightness is blinding
2) Colors look washed out (with my current pathetic attempt to calibrate).
OS X :: UMBP 15" (Late 2008) + Dell S2009W Display Calibration
Apr 14, 2010Hi guys, I recently picked up a 20" Dell S2009W for $99 and it's pretty damn amazing, definitely replacing my old 19" Westinghouse monitor.
I'd like some tips on calibrating the color profile of the display (as well as my uMBP's display).
The model number for my uMBP is 9C84, if it helps at all
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
MacBook Pro :: Settings For Screen Calibration?
Aug 29, 2014im wanting to calibrate my retina screen and i am using the Spyder 4..
it is asking me to do a few things:
reset display to factory settings
set the display to 6500k color temperature
reset contrast levels to default
can one do this on a retina display without calibrating it?
its also asking me to identify the Gamut and type of backlight used in the display...Options are -
Gamma: Unknown, Normal, Wide.
backlight: Unknown, Flueresent CCFL, white LED, RGB LED.
MacBook :: Optimum Calibration Settings For 9C89 Screen?
Jun 19, 2009I have tried calibrating the LCD screen on my macbook and after calibration the screen looks much better than it has before. The whites "pop" out more than they used to. The one thing I am noticing though is that some black text that I am seeing is looking to have more of a brown tint to it. Is there an optimum setting for calibration on a uMB so the colors look the best possible?

Nov 2, 2009I'm looking for a new monitor to go with my MBP, and I'm stuck trying to choose between the ones listed above.
The 2407WFP is a couple of years old now I guess, but it's the rev A04 version, which supposedly fixed the (few) problems with what was otherwise meant to be a great screen. It's an sPVA screen.
I've heard good reviews of the G2410, with its LED backlighting. It's still a TN panel and I hear so much bad stuff about them.
The 2209WA is an eIPS panel which I like the sound of, but it's smaller and lower resolution.
The F2380 is a cPVA panel, the image quality looks better but I've heard bad things about blacks on this panel.
Software :: Losing Time And Date Settings / Wireless Settings Changing?
Aug 23, 2009I have a G5 Duel 2GHz Power PC, Recently I was losing the time, date and wireless settings so I assumed as my machine is now 4 years old the PRAM battery was up for renewal.This has now been replaced but I'm still losing my settings, not all the time but randomly, sometimes I lose my wireless key sometimes I lose time and date sometimes both, this can happen daily.
I have removed the (New) Battery and checked the voltage and it reads 3.6 Volts, I haven't checked this under load though, so presuming that the battery is OK, what else could cause this.. a failing System Board?
OS X :: Printing And Calibration - Pictures Come Out Low
Nov 25, 2007I already have my monitor calibrated to more-or-less match online photo labs that I use through Flickr. However, I just bought a HP C7280 and all my pictures seem to come out very low on the magenta/red side. Rather than having to either recalibrate my monitor and edit all the thousands of pictures I have to warm them up, is there any way that I can just calibrate the printer to print a bit 'redder'?

Please let me know if this is wrong.Anywho, so today I decided to let my battery drain to 0, and then normally it would sleep and I'd wake it up after plugging it in.. but this time I had to actually press the power button, and a gray screen appeared with a meter-like thing to illustrate it "waking up" I guess?

MacBook Pro :: Can't Change Print Settings On A Mbp / Printer Settings OSX 10.5?
Jun 26, 2010I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

Jun 22, 2009I just got Aperture and, though I've been a pretty serious photographer for a few years now, I'm starting to get more into doing actual prints and messing with RAW and thus realizing how important color correction and calibrating is. I definitely realize my MBPs screen, my external monitor, and my printer are all out of sync with each other when it comes to this. The only problem is I really have to idea where to begin to fix this.
And before anybody even thinks the word "Search," I don't want to try to piece together random threads on calibration and attempt to figure it out; that's how lost I am.

For some reason, after doing all of the calibration steps and whatnot, the colors on the external display still look too saturated and the text looks too washed out. Does anyone have a solution that will make the HP display looks similar to my Mac's? I'm using the Mini-Display Port to VGA adapter. The Mac is the oldest unibody.

Feb 7, 2012i am a photoshop retoucher and use an Eizo coloredge CG211 monitor to calibrate it I use Color Navigator 6 software with an x rite i1 display pro.... everything was fine till i updated... then after the update.. my screen looked flat and magenta.... i could not see yellows in my 3/4 tones.. it would run thu the calibration, color navigator would say it was successful,but screen looked off and wrong....i tried everything.... changed cables, video cards,, everything...

Sep 13, 2010Today I left my MBP on without the Power Adapter for calibration. Three hours later, when I arrived home, I found it with a black screen, unresponsive (didn't respond to any key or mouse movement whatsoever). No, the battery wasn't empty of charge, it still had half the charge! This is the second time this happens to me, I can't seem to think of a reason for this to happen.
I believe JDownloader was open, but not doing any downloads, but I'm not sure whether it was open or not, but besides it, nothing else was open.
