I have done a ton of searching and still haven't found the answer I am looking for (besides a possible future product by Belkin). It can't be as simple as a HDMI to MDP adaptor can it?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been searching around for some time to try and figure out how to hook up my 360 (and it's HDMI output) to my mac pro (quad, 7Gb ram) and 30" cinema display. Apple lists this on their site: [URL] but it's designed as a video capture card, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for using simply to play the 360 on. Are there any other pci express cards or units which will allow me to take the output from the 360, input it through my Mac Pro and display it on my cinema display without lag, wonky setups, or hijacking anything?

Mac Pro, 30" ACD, Apple LED 24" display, and 360 and I have a uMBP.
I have a 23" Apple Cinema Display (the older model in the clear plastic casing) with a Dual 2ghz G5. I'm not to technically inclined yet as I just got into computers and decided to give macs a try. I just got a xbox 360 and was hoping to connect it to my cinema display. Just wondering if this is possible. From what I understand my G5 has and DVI out which is why I had to get a DVI to ADC adapter for it to work with my display. Microsoft sells a VGA adapter but I'm guessing that will not work with my display. Also if it is possible what type of device would I need to use the monitor with the xbox and the G5 together? (I know I can't use them at the same time but alternate so I don't have to keep unplugging and hooking up cables every time I go between machines).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got quite a simple question about an MBP and an Xbox 360, which I'm sure some have asked and others have answered before, but I'm looking for a straight-forward response given the situation I find myself into. So I've got the two devices, and I'd like to use the MBP's display as a video output for the 360. What I've also got is a VGA adapter for the 360, so I could connect it to a monitor instead of a TV. So basically, is this achievable, and if it is, what else do I need, in case I need anything else? Sorry for the improper way of writing this message, but all I have is an HTC Desire, and I find it quite difficult to type very well.

From what I am reading its seems though that it can't, is there a hack of some sort that could do this. This would be a great 1080p screen to use instead of buying a brand new TV.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am actually trying to decide if to get the old 30" cinema display or not.I'm a graphic designer and my fear is that apple will never make a matte display...Here in Italy it's still sold in the apple store. I have the unibody macbook pro, and so I've been reading through reviews now for a week ... my biggest concern is the dual-link dvi adapter... I still see posts (August or September 2010) with people experiencing issues, even with the firmware 1.3!I wanted to ask you people if I should go for it or dig the 27 inch even though it's glossy... I have a few people in the office (also graphic designers) working on iMacs and got used to the glossy.

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.

I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a brand new 27" i7 imac a few weeks ago, display is awesome!!! I was using my old 28" LCD monitor from my PC and running dual displays on the iMac. The 28" LCD monitor annoyed me a bit because i could not get the same color/crispness/brightness that i got from the iMac. ( also it has a Matt screen and i am more into the glossy screens ) So i found a used 24" cinema display locally. Paid 600.00 and it came with 2 yrs of AppleCare. It is only 7 months old ( still have 5 months under orignal warranty ) Got home, hooked it up and it had a "hint" of yellowness to it, It wasn't a exact image of my iMacs display...I tried to calibrate it also, but it still had just a HINT of yellowness....Nothing at all major, but enough for me to be annoyed with it.

I am considering buying a Wacom Contiq 24 HD screen/tablet and would like to know if the Radeon 2600 will drive both or will I need a second graphics card? I am thinking of updating my home studio setup which is currently running a Macbook pro 13" 2.26 with 4gb of ram. I was first thinking of upgrading to an iMac with a 3.06Ghz processor and 27" display. However, I now think I might be ok staying with my MacBook and upgrading to one of the two displays;- The 30" Cinema display- Or the 24" Cinema LED displayAt nearly half the price I am leaning towards the 24" display. I am using logic and ableton. What does everyone think and anyone had any experiences running logic and or ableton with a MacBook and display.

When it gets to the late hours I like to watch some movies on the Mac so I figured the Cinema Display would be a nice addition to do the job.
Now here's my issue: if it's late and I'm watching movies I tend to not have any lights on, but having one of the displays on means having both of them on, what I'm wondering is if it's possible to sleep one display while allowing the other to stay active so I can watch the movie without the light from the other one distracting
I am having trouble finding a free video converter. I wish to convert .mp4, .avi, etc to .wmv so I can watch them on my xbox and hopefully transfer them. I have tried a few converters most that just don't work or are 'trials' and are useless.

Today I bought iMac 27-inch. Firstly I planned to buy 21.5 inch, but when I saw this 27-inch I decided to buy it. I've got Core 2 Duo version.
So, I wanna to connect my 360 to this iMac. I have Mini Display -> DVI adapter and than DVI -> HDMI adapter and the problem could be sound. DVI does not transmit any sound. So is there option to play sound from 360 on my iMac or via headphones? What if I connect stereo cables (into mini jack using adapter).
Say I set up my xbox with a component to minidisplay port adapter and plugged the mini display port into my macbook pro 13 inch, could i use the moniter as a dsplay for my xbox. I currently don't have an hd tv in my dorm and i like the display on my macbook and would like to use it. Also, would it be possible to buy something like an hdmi to firewire 800 and then use the firewire port on my macbook for the video in. Even though the mini displayport is an output, will it make a difference. I am also interested in buying a capture device and using that with the usb port on my mac, but i have heard that the latancy is really bad and you don't get to play at the full resolution.

Now, i've read that the LED Display uses glossy display compared to the Cinema Display? Also, it's completely my own opinion, but the older Cinema Display seems to be looking more nice also having one-coloured.
The technical specifications are in favour of LED Display of course, but taking into account the glossy display, less attractive design and so on... Which one would you get?
I'm going to buy a MBP. I am also going to buy an external display. I'm going to university, and would like to have a 'display' that can also take a console input and receive digital TV. Otherwise I have to buy an external computer display and a TV, which is expensive and not good for desk space!

Something that would have RCA input/output (the red, white, yellow cords) and would connect to my mac with USB or hopefully firewire 800 (express card 32 would work as well).
On the 2009 iMacs you were limited to a 720p resolution when you for example plugged your Ps3 to the iMac, even though the connector could show 1080p. Does anyone know if this is still the case on the new iMacs? And this is only possible to do on the 27" models, since they have video input.
