Wirelessly? Ethernet? USB? Which is easiest to set up? And will speed be an issue?
I have the 17" MBP but need more screen real estate. My mom gave me a $300 dell laptop, so I was hoping to be able to make this work and not have t spring for an additional monitor.
I've tried SynergyKM and can't seem to make it work.
Hardware is not my forte, so please keep it simple.
Is there anyway to connect my Dell Latitude laptop to my 27" iMac to use as a monitor.I have been told that it is only possible to connect mac to mac.

I am running bootcamp with xp on my older non unibody macbook pro. I have it hooked up with a dell monitor, but I want to see things only on the dell monitor and not the macbook one. This works fine booted into OSX, but I can't find a way to do it in windows. Is there a way to disable my laptop monitor?

When using my first laptop: Acer Aspire 6920G with 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, it works just fine.
But when trying my second one: Alienware with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium (processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.93 GHz), it doesn't work at all...
I currently run my MacBook in clamshell mode with an external monitor, keyboard, etc. I have researched usb to VGA or DVI conversion kits but all of the sources seem outdated. I don't need HDMI because my sound output goes through my MiniPort Display, out through speakers connected to my primary monitor. I am aware that a usb connection will come with lag, but it isn't that big of a deal.

I want to triple boot my mac so I can run linux by itself, but I'm running into some trouble. After partitioning my hard drive, whenever I try to boot up windows, it fails, and a get a blue screen and an UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error. I have my windows partitioned as FAT and its Windows XP. I have already attempted to repair permissions for Mac and repair disc for Windows.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the Windows XP SP1 disk that came with my old computer. I know that OEM disks don't work, but i successfully install Windows onto bootcamp every time i try, and it works perfectly. The only thing is, I can't install the bootcamp drivers which let me access wifi because i don't have sp2. I can't slipstream, because the disk has updates integrated inside of it, and whenever I try to install SP2 from the sp2 install file i dl'd from the microsoft site, it always gives me a "4 additional megabytes required" error. I added 5 gigabytes. and it still has this error.

I can't just use my Mac as I have corporate applications that I need to use. As there is no video-in, I have tried Remote control, but this is too laggy. I hear Elgato eyeTV hybrid may work but I wanted to see if anyone has had success. I have been in email conversations with Elgato but they haven't actually grasped what I want to do yet! It sounds possible as you can connect PS3/Xbox etc through the Hybrid using the supplied s-video/composite cable. So could i just get a vga (pc video out) to s-video (Hybrid) cable to connect through the Hybrid? would the picture on my iMac fill the screen?

I have a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro. With the Mac Pro I have just the one screen - used to have two, but now just the one as I rarely need it. However, for a job I'm doing at the moment, it would be handy to have the use of two screens. I received a 27 LED apple/mac monitor --not the 2011/12 version though.I want to use with my work computer--a dell laptop. I can't seem to find the right adaptor to connect the two.I need a dvi port converter that also connects to my vga on my laptop (so need the male end of hte vga since my laptop has the female end).I only found 1 adaptor but it ends with a dvi on a vga. I don't have hdmi on my laptop either--tried that adaptor as well when I couldn't see on the pic when I ordered that it was hdmi not usb). Please help. I have read so many blogs that say it can be done.

I can't make a decision about what monitor I should buy to use with my new iMac 27. I have a limit budget about $400 -$500. I narrow my choice into these models, which are Dell U2410 and HP 2710m or Dell U2311H.

The problem is that I would like to know people using 27 iMac with a smaller monitor like 24 inch. What do you feel? any different? That's why my choice includes Hp2710M even if it's not the IPS monitor but a TN monitor. I cna get it $340
The Dell U2311h is the IPS monitor as well and I can get it only $250. With only one inch less than U2410 but less price almost $200, I could not ignore it.

Can I add a third partition to my drive after I partition for BootCamp? My main partition ("Macintosh HD" by default) is over 900GB large and I'd really like to cut that up into 2x450GB, for example, in addition to the 93GB BootCamp partition.
Second, once partitioned, is it possible to resize the BootCamp partition to make it bigger after it has been set up?
I love my macbook pro - absolutely LOVE osx. But I am going to be building a windows desktop soon for gaming, photoshop, animation, etc. Can't afford a Mac Pro, so I don't have too much of an option. And I put a CD of XP in cd drive when it restart it show me no bootable disk found something like that on a black screen. Then I restart again and press and hold c key nothing happen. After that I try to hold my option button and I saw a grey screen with a harddisk but unable to find the cd icon same story with windows 7 and vista dvd but when I try to use Mac OS X cd that come with bundle. It show me the icon of mac cd on grey screen near the hard disk icon when I hold the option button. I also check the cd and dvd on a windows boot perfectly. And when I insert disk in mac it works fine and also shows the icon of cd and dvd on mac desktop. I would like to have XP and mac OSX on my laptop.

Well I have a PowerBook G4, fast n everythin' is great! it has a dvi connection. And I have a satellite receiver that I should update with a 9-pin vga cable and windows xp-laptop.
Now I installed windows xp on my PowerBook (using Virtual PC) but i need to know how i can connect them to each other.
So, my satellite receiver her has a 9-pin male vga connection and the PowerBook has a male dvi connection.
i do not want the windows laptop to gain access to my mac but i wanna access and transfer files from the windows laptop to my mac.
im basically using my xp laptop as a downloading device.
is it something easy to set up?
what will the speed be like?
by the way i also have a firewire cable. i did connect the firewire cable to my xp laptop but the mac cant see it. something on xp came up saying it should install a software but couldnt find it when looking up on the net..
i would prefer wireless connection but if firewire is easier and much faster then yeah firewire is ok.
