The idea it's to connect my father's laptop in order to save all the work that he does in the laptop, altough he has 2 pens....well you know some times windows grows a will on his own , is easy to set up or is it difficult?

Basically it will be set up like this:
Verizon 3G network > Omnia > Windows laptop [Vista] > iMac
I know how to get tethering set up and everything, but I don't know how to connect my iMac to my laptop through wireless.
also, their all .avi video's. and i'm really confused! also, quicktime isn't letting me play .avi videos for some reason! and vlc won't download for me. and i'll put them on a USB but they wont download on my computer!

Are MBP's capable of doing that? Is it just a matter of software? I'm guessing you need WiFi capabilities on your TV too.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it is possible to connect a desktop and laptop computer using apple share or bluetooth to share an internet connection that is connected through an ethernet port on the desktop. My internet company is crap so I need to find a way to cut out the router, which I have to reset all the time to get a normal internet speed.
Desktop is a Mac Pro bought last April, and the laptop is a 12" Powerbook G4. Both have bluetooth, airport, and the newest operating system.
I have owned my mac for some time now. I have an IMAC 24" and a macbook 13" black. Have owned the Imac for nearly 2 years and macbook for about a year. Absolutely love them and i made the switch from windows for various reasons.
After switching our ISP to "talk talk" (UK) I have noticed that when a windows machine boots up and the wireless is detected my internet connection either drops or cuts out all together. Sometimes having to reset the router. This doesn't always work though. This happens when either an acer laptop running XP Pro or Asus laptop running vista connects.
Im not sure if this is to do with the isp or weather its something in the mac that i could resolve.
I have tried contacting them but usually put through to a call center in India or talk to someone with a strong Indian decent accent. I personally find it hard understanding them so prefer not to call as i feel im being rude constantly asking them to repeat. Also tried signing up to the talk talk forum but it ask for my home number and also a number we was issued with when we bought the package, and i for the life of me cant find it!
Has anyone else had this problem were he internet connection drops? It's fine if i have macbook and imac running at the same time but when the windows joins connection drops or just fails. If anyone else has had this please post.
can u you install mac on a partition on a windows 7 laptop? and run both mac and win7?

But I am going to be building a windows desktop soon for gaming, photoshop, animation, etc. Can't afford a Mac Pro, so I don't have too much of an option. And I put a CD of XP in cd drive when it restart it show me no bootable disk found something like that on a black screen. Then I restart again and press and hold c key nothing happen. After that I try to hold my option button and I saw a grey screen with a harddisk but unable to find the cd icon same story with windows 7 and vista dvd but when I try to use Mac OS X cd that come with bundle. It show me the icon of mac cd on grey screen near the hard disk icon when I hold the option button. I also check the cd and dvd on a windows boot perfectly. And when I insert disk in mac it works fine and also shows the icon of cd and dvd on mac desktop. I would like to have XP and mac OSX on my laptop.

Is this possible? I tried "Creating Network..." under Airport menu on MacBook, but couldn't get it to work. Is it possible with ethernet cable? Well I have a PowerBook G4, fast n everythin' is great! it has a dvi connection. And I have a satellite receiver that I should update with a 9-pin vga cable and windows xp-laptop.
Now I installed windows xp on my PowerBook (using Virtual PC) but i need to know how i can connect them to each other.
So, my satellite receiver her has a 9-pin male vga connection and the PowerBook has a male dvi connection.
Wirelessly? Ethernet? USB? Which is easiest to set up? And will speed be an issue?
I have the 17" MBP but need more screen real estate. My mom gave me a $300 dell laptop, so I was hoping to be able to make this work and not have t spring for an additional monitor.

i would prefer wireless connection but if firewire is easier and much faster then yeah firewire is ok.
I just increased my Windows partition and was going back through my regular Windows updates when I just came across nVidia's updated graphics drivers. Located here, nVidia previously did not offer drivers for notebooks, forcing one to download unsupported drivers from laptop2video.Apple has not updated their own bootcamp drivers for at least a year, and only recently did nVidia offer drivers for notebooks. I personally had used the previous drivers for a couple weeks, and had no problems what so ever, and even gained several FPS on the games I play in bootcamp. I did not install them first, I did it over the original bootcamp drivers (after making a restore point, of course) as others have.

I am trying to use Home Sharing between my iMac and a Windows Laptop. I have setup home sharing on each computer, but for some reason i can only see shared icon in my iMac iTunes library. On my Windows Latoptop the shared icon is not visible in the left hand pane. I have tried Authorising both computers, deauthorising both computers. Turning on, then off home sharing on each computer. I can still only see my laptops library on my IMac. When I really want to see my iMac's library on my laptop, as I am using my laptop for music at a party. Has anybody had problems when tying to use Home Sharing between a Windows Computer and a Mac?

i have a HP colorlaserjet 2840 (network)printer connected (fixed ip adres, cable) to a router. Have a windows laptop and an ibook (macOsX tiger) connected wireless to the router. Can print fine from the windows laptop to the printer. Internet and email work fine on both the laptop and ibook.
Can anybody tell me how i can get the ibook to print (wireless) to the printer. I allready downloaded the driver from the HP site and try to add the printer through Ip printing. This appaers to have gone allright but when i try to print nothing happens, I don't see a printjob in the cue.

In bootcamp I got all the way to the part where I have to enter in my windows activation code during the windows installation. I just realized however that the code I have is wrong, and I can only get it from the guy I bought the copy from tomorrow. My question is, can I just shut down my laptop and start from the partition with no problems once I have the code?
