Can the Airport express play all sound from my PC computer or is it only for Itunes?
Like, I want to be able to hear the sound from my movies when editing in adobe premiere on my main speakers, without the hassle of cables! is this possible with the airport express?
Does anyone know if it is ppossible to stream all sound via an airport express and not just music played within iTunes?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI use AirTunes with my Airport Express hooked up to my home stereo. Often times there is a very audible buzzing sound coming through the speakers. It's not every time I use AirTunes, but most of the time. Sometimes the buzzing is quite loud.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.
My sound keeps turning off. When I check the settings, the output device switches randomly between Internal and Digital output. I have no idea where the Digitial Output is coming from and this started about a month again. It switches randomly and then I loose all sound for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens once then stops for a few days, other times it switches back and forth for 5 min. No idea!!!

This started happening randomly earlier tonight, and I haven't managed to find a fix just yet.I was encoding a video file for quite awhile (I don't think that parts important, but I thought I'd include it anyway) and then I tried to play a youtube video. I noticed there was no sound, so I tried to up the volume using the Volume Up key on the keyboard. The volume visualisation appeared on the screen like normal (albeit a bit laggy), but the sound still didn't change, neither did I get the usual 'click' noise you get when you change the volume.I went looking into the sound options in the system prefs. only to find that the Output Sound device was headphones. For a test I plugged in some headphones to see what happened and, low and behold, the Output Sound device changed to the Internal Sound and my speakers were working again, but only with the headphones plugged in.

I woke up this morning and tried to watch a linked video on a webpage. I saw the video, but there was no sound (this had not been a problem the evening before). I am using USB soundsticks, so I checked to make sure that they were plugged in, and they were. I opened iTunes and sound came through the Soundsticks; I switched to the internal speaker and it worked there as well. When I tried the same with another embedded video, however, I only got sound from the internal speaker.
Has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone know how to fix this?
I have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.
Just a question for those who have used the Airports. Can a USB hub be used to expand the number of devices the Airport can use? i.e., an external hd, a laserjet, and an inkjet.

I have an old Airport Express (A1088).I am running OSX 10.9.4 - I have downloaded Airport Utility 5.6 and yet cannot install - I am getting "This version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported".Unfortunately no PC or old Mac available. I used to be able set up on IOS but cannot do that anymore either.Any clues how to re-setup this old airport that works ok.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter configuring wireless security on my Airport Extreme base station, the Airport Express I use to stream iTunes music to my whole-house stereo system has disappeared. Airport Utility can't see it. Yes, I checked connections. All I get is a blinking yellow light on the Express. The base station works as its supposed to.
I have a 17" Powerbook G4 with a 1.33 GHz Power PC processor. I'm running MacOS 10.5.8
MBP 2.2; OSX 10.4.11; Airport Express 802.11n (version 7.3.2); WD MyBook 320GB (format Mac OS Extended) I'm trying to get the WD HDD setup as a wireless hard drive, but it's not showing up at all in Airport Utility (I don't even have a 'disk' tab in the 'manual setup' menu). Airport Disk Utility just says "no airport disks found." Of course the HDD works fine when plugged in directly to the MBP. I've searched apple support and these forums, but haven't found anything that works yet. All help I have found says use the 'disk tab' in AE manual setup window. What do I do without a 'disk' tab? (or how do I get one?) is this a firmware/software issue with the AE?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have the apple extreme as my wireless router. It works great. I absolutely love it. I have two macbook pro's (wife and I both have one) and use it for my PS3 and Xbox 360. I started a new job and was given a free HP desktop (not my choice, but hey, it's free, so what can I say). The desktop is not wireless and I am not able to put my computer near the airport extreme because my TV already owns that territory. Today I bought the Airport express to use as a bridge (and other things in the future). I have plugged it in. I opened the airport utility using my macbook. It finds my extreme and my express. I select that I want to set up the express. I select that I want to set it up using an existing wireless network. I select my airport extreme. It tells me that it has to restart the express. I wait approximately 3 minutes. It then tells me that the settings to the express have been changed but it's not able to find it.
My main goal is to use the express as a bridge. I have the express plugged in beside the desktop and want to run an ethernet cable from the express to the desktop to allow for wireless capability.
AirPort Express doesn't show up in AirPort Utility 6.0. I haven't updated the AirPort utility on my laptop, and can find it there. 6.0 doesn't even has a scan button... I've done a hard reset of the AirPort Express, still isn't showing up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into a new apartment that has an Airport Express connected to a cable modem. The network does not have a password. I want to put a password on it so that not everyone in the building can use our internet.
When I connect to the Airport via the Airport Utility, it recognizes the Airport, but asks for a password when I try to configure it. I tried doing a soft reset on the Airport, but it didn't change anything. Are there two passwords for an Airport? If so, how can I bypass the second one? The "Resetting Airport Express" page at [URL] doesn't answer this question. Do I need to do a hard reset? If so, is there anything I need to know about that? We no longer have any of the original literature that came with the product.
I am upgrading from a g wireless router to an n. I have a Belkin right now that I hate. Neither I, on a mac, nor my roommate, on a PC, can get a consistent connection on it. Needless to say it's going back and I want to get an express or an extreme. I had actually bought an Airport Extreme first and it was lightening fast, but I was told that the Express was just as fast, so I went to exchange. The guy at BestBuy told me the Belkin was cheaper and just as fast, so I bought it. I would really like this to be my last trip to the store for a router. Do I need to shell out for the Extreme or is the Express just as fast if all you need is an n router?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an ACD which I hook up to my MacBook. I watch videos and movies on it late at night so instead of playing it through the speakers I prefer to play it through headphones so I don't keep everyone up.
This works great with iTunes. I plug them into my MacBook and off I go. For VLC, however, it STILL plays the audio through the speakers even though my headphones are plugged in.
How do I change it so the audio plays through the headphones when plugged in using VLC instead of the speakers. (Jeez, you'd think this would be basic functionality. >_>)
I picked up a really cool wireless USB speaker set and want to use it with my current gen iMac running Snow Leopard. Problem is that as far as I can tell, and I've done some searching, that it's either the USB audio, or my internal iMac speakers, one or the other - not both.
could use both outputs at the same time? Internal speakers and the wireless USB ones?
I just opened up my MacBook about an hour ago, and for some reason the sound output isn't working. System preferences are as they should be (mute is not activated). I'm assuming that this is a hardware problem, but am hoping that somehow it is not. It's completely mute, btw, no sounds of any kind. When I restarted it, no sounds when it booted up again.

I know all about the Option-Click of the menubar icon, but what I really want is to assign a hotkey to cycle through them (similar to the alt tab program scroll) when I can't easily get up to cross the room for my mouse.
If it helps I use a Logitech DiNovo Mac edition keyboard. I've looked all through it's prefpane but it doesn't have an option to switch sound outputs. If there was an unknown keyboard shortcut to switch outputs then I could easily just assign it to an Fx key.
On my 2009 I've noticed now that after using bootcamp for a bit then booting back into os x that i have no sound available, there's no sound devices in preferences. This is using the line-out jack.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a problem with my MacBook Pro (2008) for a while. If I connect a headset or external speakers, there will be no sound from the Macs audio output. The built in speakers is working perfectly. Do you have any idears what could be the reason? I tryed do reset the Pram but with no luck. If it helps there is no red light coming out of the macs output. The problem occurred when I connected a mini-jack for my speakers. Maybe the output thinks it's a S/PDIF and not a normal audio output?
