Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.3 Keeps Crashing Even After Update?
Aug 26, 2014
I've recently updated to Mavericks and updated FCPx, however whenever I import footage to the timeline or move clips around, FCP just freezes. It sometimes says its loading a project and then doesn't allow me to do anything else or even quit. Im VERY VERY angry now because it is holding me up on deadlines. Ive been to the genius store, they came up with a solution however the it is still happening again!!! What do I do??? Â
I upgraded to 10.1.3 last week and have had nothing but problems. The program crashes continually for a variety of reasons, and while I can eventually get it up and running again, I can't isolate the causes of the crashes. I would like to "revert" to 10.1.2 or 10.1.1. How do I do this? ( I don't have the old program saved).
I have been using FCPX since it came out and FCP (the original) since it was introduced.
Info: Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), iMac 3.5 GHz Intel i7
For some reason FCP keeps crashing when I launch a particular project; just this one project! Others don't seem to have this issue. Sometimes it does get as far as loading all the sequences but as soon I I try a play any it crashes! I can say except copying the report below: By the way it mentions plugins but I don't believe (as far as I know) that I have any 3rd party plugins installed.Â

I just updated my iMac from Lion to Maveric. I was very disapointed that all the Master Templates HD are crashing FCP 7. Its amazing that Apple did not fix this issue with FCP7 upgrade. To get FCP X is out of the question.Â
I use FCS 2 Final cut pro 6.0.5, hdv 1080i60 shot on canon xl-h1
When trying to playback the timeline, for what ever reason... crash! Doesn't happen all the time, and not for any particular reason. Also, when I tried to export the project, it got to that magic 7% and crashed. Export settings were as follows:
-Quicktime Conversion -H.264 -FR 30 -Limit:2500 KBs -Key Frame Every 30 -Custom Res:872x480

my Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 is crashing when I try to edit a simple 2 minute video clip.I have been doing a web video series for over 2 months now uploading videos every day - with no problems using this same workflow but now I am stuck and have a deadline coming up in 24 hours.Â
I shoot with a Sony EX-3 camera using SxS cards which create XDCAM-EX files and I bring these into FCP via a Sony SxS external Thunderbolt reader, edit and share to Facebook. I have an orange LaCie Thunderbolt drive that store my Library and Project files.  I have done this 70+ days in a row w/ zero problems.  Now, any time I try to get tomorrow's video ready, FCP crashes
I re-start FCP, my Mac (I use a new MacBook Pro that works seamlessly).I run latest Mavericks OS.The only different thing that happened otherwise is I got some TuneUpMyMac freeware on my Mac when I restart which I never chose to get and cannot delete this because it doesn't show up and I am concerned it is a virus that is messing up FCPÂ
I downloaded the macbook pro updates last week, installed them and then experienced kernal failure. My computer is back up and running fine now (after a rather lengthy fix) and I was wondering if the update is safe o install yet? Specifically, the iPhoto, iTunes, AirPort Utility and iMovie updates.
The main reason I am eager to attempt the update is because my iPhoto now no longer works, and I presume it is because the iPhoto update has not been installed.
A few days ago, I tried to install a minor update for NeoOffice (mac native OpenOffice) and the installer crashed. I figured no big deal, it's not an important update anyway. Today I tried to install the new Google Voice and Video program (similar to Skype) and the installer crashed again. I figured I had better to a software update because maybe I have some bad version of something. No luck, software update crashes too. I am running Leopard 10.5.8 Here's the reports from the three attempts.
My mac book pro keeps crashing as soon as I update the OS from 10.7 to 10.7.3. It happened thrice and now I am not even able to reinstall the OS. It keeps downloading the additional components and keep increasing the time from 30 mins to 1hr 40mins.
I installed iTunes 10.6 a few days ago. Ever since then, iTunes will run until I try to sync any of my devices. I have tried sync'ing iPad, different generations/typs of iPod and iPhone. They all cause the app to quit "unexpectedly". I can play music from iTunes on my computer - it just fails when connecting to a device via the USB port or wi-fi. I reinstalled iTunes today.
IÂ recently installed the Macbook Air 2013 EFI 2.8 update which seems to cause my Macbook to freeze / crash more often coming out of sleep with an external HDD attached. It used to do it now and then but after the update (which claims to fix the issue it seems to happen more often). Â
i have a G4, serial number qt21106cl3v. i just installed os x 10.2.3. i cant get on fb or any site that uses flash. it says for me to download shockwave. ive tried and it wont install. i tried to download a new browser, like firefox, or another version of safari and i have no luck.
i cant decide whether its a virus or what. i just got the computer from a yard sale and its in excellent condition. i had to reinstall os x though cuz it had no os. any ideas?? you can find additional info by searching for specs through the serial. i have no prior knowledge of macs and am trying to learn quickly.
also, as in the heading, safari keeps crashing when i try to download any kind of new browser, and the auto updates arent working either.
I have a MacBook Pro running Tiger. After installing the most recent update, I find that Safari keeps crashing every time I open a new tab. I've tried cleaning out my plug ins and history.plist, but it hasn't helped.
I'm confused as to why my Safari stopped working. It crashes as I launch it. The report I get is below.
====8<..... Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Safari [453] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Applications/Mac Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.apple.Safari
Software Update appears to have crashed Filemaker on my MacBookPro. I'm running 10.7.4 on a 2G i7, 4G Ram.The fist time it lost Filemaker data, I had to go to an earlier back up of the file and re-enter data. It seems like it would have crashed any other application I was actually using.
A user upgraded their MacBook Air, 10.9.3, and now iTunes is crashing when we check for updates and FaceTime is crashing. I'm not sure what else is crashing at this time.Â

When trying to update FCPX to 10.1.3 a message pops up saying "Not Enough Memory Installed. Atleast 4 GB of memory required" (or something along those lines), how can I 'install' memory to update FCPX?Â
Ok, my once a week auto Mac auto update just finished and now my itunes 10.6 will start then crash as soon as it opens. Error report as followsÂ
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â iTunes [746] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.apple.iTunes

If you want the rest of the multi page thread I will paste it.
I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems. Â
Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ? I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Just did the weekly auto update.
For some reason my safari, address book, mail and software update keep crashing, l have re-installed them form my snow leopard disc and still same thing. Should l be considering a fresh install again or is there a way to fix this withouth this long process?
I have been seriously considering purchasing final cut express 4. It seems like it has been forever since Apple has released an update to this software. Would anyone happen to know if Apple is planning on releasing final cut express 5 sometime in the near future?
I have update FCP to 10.1.2 yesterday and now i can't open one project that i have to re-edit now.
It's a 1.30 min editing project with a hundred of clips in that specific event, clips are still there and i can preview each one with no issues (same for others events and projects that i'm editing now) but when i'm trying to open this particular project (double click) FCP shows evey time a spinning wheel and freezes, its RAM's usage goes to the moon and i have to force quitting.
What i've tried:Â
1- pick up a backup file and use it deleting the corrupt one in my library (i've used 3 different files from 3 different days, no luck) 2 - deleting preferces (alt+command+click to launch) 3 - deleting generated event files 4 - deleting .flexolibrary file 5 - using Onyx to clean my Mac Pro 6 - shutting down and rebootingÂ
Dual 6 Core workstation, 48 GB of RAM and several internal HD /// OSX 10.9.3 Mavericks
I just updated to 10.1.3 yesterday. Ever since, FCP X 10.1.3 is constantly creating backup folders....that contain nothing in them. In one day alone, it has created more than 2,367 folders and its still going.
Even more concerning....where are the actual backups? All of the 2000+ folders are empty. I did not make a back up of 10.1.2 before upgrading.Â
Was having Adobe shockwave/flash problems while running Chrome, which is not completely unheard of. Restarted my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8), which included a software update (though I'm not sure exactly what programs were updated). Now Chrome will not run at all. Every time I start, it crashes immediately. Have tried SEVERAL times to trash/download it, but the same version seems to keep appearing in my Applications folder. Have also tried trashing the Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome folder to no avail. Appears back in its place after dragging it to the trash. Â
In addition, Adobe flash videos for Safari and Firefox (which I just downloaded as a tester) also will not work. Each attempt to update Adobe Flash also ends in a crash. And now I've discovered the same for everything Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The program shuts down and the Microsoft error message appears breifly, followed by the same crash "Mircrosoft Word Error Reporting Quit Unexpectedly" box. Â Again, have tried several times to download Chrome & Adobe Flash to no avail. All system updates have been made to date. What to do next?
I'd love to see Final Cut Express get an update since it hasn't been updated since 2007! It does support up to 1080i HD widescreen, but 1080p is not supported. This is frustrating as iMovie is a consumer product and I prefer the look of Final Cut.
I know I could just purchase Final Cut Studio and get Final Cut Pro, and have 1080p support, but I don't want to spend that much money. Final Cut Express was perfect in that it had the look of Final Cut Pro! I wish Apple would release an update, but I haven't heard anything.
Since upgrading to Final Cut Pro 10.1.2, the software is working almost perfectly fine, but when exporting movies - whether I export them as h264, iTunes or directly to YouTube - they do not export with the colour corrections I applied to different shots.
