Since upgrading to Final Cut Pro 10.1.2, the software is working almost perfectly fine, but when exporting movies - whether I export them as h264, iTunes or directly to YouTube - they do not export with the colour corrections I applied to different shots.
View 14 RepliesI see that at least one other user is having the same problem with 10.1.2. My movies of four or five clips (auditions for actors) are not carrying color correction forward upon export on all the clips. Some, yes. Some, no. For several hours over two days I have tried everything I can think of to isolate the problem and haven't come up with anything. Sometimes when I export a second time after first disabling and then re-enabling the color correction settings, the second export will be fine.
I've sent in a feedback note to Apple, but I have no reason to believe they'll respond (several times over the years I've done the same on various issues, and have never gotten a response).

Been getting very sporadic color grades upon export, as in some clips will receive the grade while others won't. I can't seem to find an issue related to any of my media, as Ive tried multiple tests of optimizing the media, trying to start a new project, reimporting all of the media, deleting the render files, and nothing seems to work. Ive noticed it does happen more often when I paste attributes but I've done a test of going through and applying a preset manually and it still wont export with the grade.
Deleting the render files on one project seemed to work well although I found there was a clip or two that still didnt export with the grade.
I have edited 100's of videos using FCP, but now for some reason I am getting excessive cropping (300-400%) when stabilizing a clip. Is there a setting that I am missing? I have restarted, relaunched etc, but no change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI Was using Final Cut Pro X and Safari, and my computer would not process my exporting of a file from Final Cut. So, I tried restarting it.... It froze and I held down the power button, shut it down and turned it on when.... The apple logo appears with spinning circle, and then I get a circle with a slash and Apple logo disappears.

I filmed a show with 2 different cameras (one is a canon vixia, the other is a canon dos 7D, i realize the quality is different for them) and I used the multi cam editor to match h up the clips and audio file to switch back and forth. I think i created proxy media to use for the multi cam clip. Whenever i export my movie, the movie plays with horizontal lines, and whenever there is faster motion, the person gets blurred. What is making final cut pro x export like this? How do I fix this? I've tried exporting with Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy), and H.264, but all video files have the lines going through it and the motion is a bit blurry.

When I export master file, I am not asked where I want to save the file. This used to pop up, and I could choose which folder, hard drive or have have you. Is this a setting that I somehow turned off?

I have filmed using a Canon XF300 camera which produces MPEG -2 files on CF cards. I have used the highest quality setting - 1920x1080 i50 : this is broadcast standard.
I use FCP version 7.03 to log and transfer the material. I have edited a half hour project with various effects and that too has worked. BUT now I cannot find a way of EXPORTING this as a QT movie to copy onto a 4Gb DVD. I have tried various settings - Apple Pro Res 422 is the favourite but it produces huge files. I find the digital domain hasn't been covered well enough in the FCP version I have.

Im an FCPX editor for a local cable fishing show in So Cal (Angler Chronicles) and Im still mailing beta SP tapes to a studio so the show can be aired.
I recently heard that if we covert to MXT files with 8 channel audio and "drop frame"?, in the future we can safely send the files electronically, via the web.
So, how to get my edited shows into the format mentioned above?

I often shoot short videos with my iPhone. I bring them into FCPX and edit it.
The problem is when I export it, it will have black bars on the side once its back on my iPhone. It will never just export to fit the screen like it did when I shot the video. I tried to customize the aspect ratio but it only gives me set options.

My goal is to export HD quality files to upload to my website that accepts flv, f4v, and mp4 formats. When I try exporting using Compressor to the mp4 format, the sound quality is there, but the video plays at half speed and has vertical lines in it. I've tried it several times, and have even first exported a .mov file from FCP, then used Compressor only to have the same results.

View 2 Replies View Relatedafter color balancing a clip I get a flickering border on top and bottom of my clips, visible in timeline and also after rendering. It's easy to see in this clip (starts around 15 seconds in): URL....
If I remove the color balance it will go away. I wonder if it has to do with the source clip being in 1080i instead of p. The preceding clip is also color balanced but is in 1080p. It's less noticeable but sometimes still there when other color correction is invoked. I'm using a late 2013 Haswell 27 in iMac with 8gb ram.

before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
I'm a high school teacher looking for a free mac software program for grades. My school uses Grade Machine, which I don't particularly like (and isn't compatible with my mac). I calculate my grades based on percentages instead of total points (i.e. their average homework grade is 15% of their total grade)
Can anyone recommend something free and offer a download link?
ETA: While I prefer a free program, I'd be willing to pay up to $40 for a good program.
I have a problem after updating to 10.7.4. It seams that the red color has changed after the update. I can notice it in the US flag for the keyboard layout. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to use different color profiles and calibrate the monitor, but nothing helped. I think maybe it is connected with the fact that I didn't disconnect the external monitor while the update process.
I had an issue with the red color before while I connected external display and used only it. After I disconnected the display the red color changed itself. At that time the reboot only helped. But recently I started to use both displays of my macbook pro and external one and the issue with red color did't appear any more. And now after the update the red color has changed and I don't know how to return it back.
I've just made a clean install of Lion on monday and everything was perfect. Now I don't want to do it again. It took the full day of setting my system. I don't have time for the second time. I need to Work! I have MacBook Pro 17" of mid 2009. The external display that I use is Dell 2408WFP.

I've recently updated to Mavericks and updated FCPx, however whenever I import footage to the timeline or move clips around, FCP just freezes. It sometimes says its loading a project and then doesn't allow me to do anything else or even quit. Im VERY VERY angry now because it is holding me up on deadlines. Ive been to the genius store, they came up with a solution however the it is still happening again!!! What do I do???

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just managed to turn on the 'Correct Spelling Automatically' option in Safari (and other Apple apps) by right clicking in a text field and choosing 'Spelling and Grammar -> Correct Spelling Automatically' But one thing that I find myself doing a lot, and would like to correct is problems like typing e.g. PAtrick has a MAc -- holding that shift key just too long. Anybody know if there's auto-correction for this? I know there is in Pages and Word (under prefs) but can't seem to find it for Safari, Mail, TextEdit etc.

It's a 1.30 min editing project with a hundred of clips in that specific event, clips are still there and i can preview each one with no issues (same for others events and projects that i'm editing now) but when i'm trying to open this particular project (double click) FCP shows evey time a spinning wheel and freezes, its RAM's usage goes to the moon and i have to force quitting.
What i've tried:
1- pick up a backup file and use it deleting the corrupt one in my library (i've used 3 different files from 3 different days, no luck)
2 - deleting preferces (alt+command+click to launch)
3 - deleting generated event files
4 - deleting .flexolibrary file
5 - using Onyx to clean my Mac Pro
6 - shutting down and rebooting

I just updated to 10.1.3 yesterday. Ever since, FCP X 10.1.3 is constantly creating backup folders....that contain nothing in them. In one day alone, it has created more than 2,367 folders and its still going.
Even more concerning....where are the actual backups? All of the 2000+ folders are empty. I did not make a back up of 10.1.2 before upgrading.
Are there any drawbacks to enabling iTunes' option to "Use error correction when reading Audio CDs" in the import settings (other than ripping will simply take longer)? What I would really like to know is whether or not enabling this feature will in any way adversely affect the quality of CD rips I get?
