I can make a FaceTime call from my iMac (Lion) but I cannot answer a call on it. I can make and answer FaceTime calls to and from my iPhone4 and my iPad. Where I can find an answer as to why FaceTime on my iMac will not answer a call.
I am just getting comfortable using FaceTime with my friends who have computers and phone but I have friends who are not Apple users, I know, I'm working on them. They have Skype accounts for their video talk format. Can I use my FaceTime to call them on their Skype address?
Why do I keep receiving a "Facetime Failed" when I call another Mac Air and know they are waiting? Both are new Airs, and this app worked two weeks ago.
The Yosemite overview states that I can answer and initiate calls. I can do neither. I have an IPhone 4S w/IOS 8.1.1. I have unlocked my phone and the results are the same.
I was told my date and time was pre 2010 ?!?! checked and yup it was showing Jan 1st 2001.. set the date and time manually charged the iphone via USB then went out.Tried to text my wife and noticed her number was no longer recognised (Number only showing, not name) and that all texts sent this morning where appearing at the bottom of my text list not the top as normal (Figured this out as the iphone had synched with the messed up time and date on the Mac). I re entered her number and when I try to call it it tells me the number is not recognised??
My facetime was working fine until recently it asked for a login and this time when I did login with my Apple id, it prompted for email verification. However it is not able to complete the verification and keeps giving the following error message : Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again.
I have checked the support forums and they all point towards preferences. Problem is that the preferences option for face time is grayed out and I am not able to use them.Â

I'm a first time iMac and skype user. I downloaded skype 2.7 earlier today and managed to do a video call for 30 minutes without any problems. However, after trying to use it again 3 hours later, my iMac keeps shutting down everytime I make a video call. None of my video calls last more than a minute before my computer shuts down. I tried reinstalling skype from scratch again but t didn't work. Even the beta version failed to solve the problem. I'm new to both iMac and skype.
I wonder if with regards to accessing FaceTime on multiple devices. We have a number of Mac products (iPad, iPhones and Mac Book Pro) at our house, all connected to one wireless network. Some of these devices can log into FaceTime but others cannot (notably the MacBook pro), using the same Apple ID details. The error message I get is that I should check my network connection. However, the connection is fine, and other devices have no problems with connecting to Facetime.
i bought before a month a new imac 21.5 . i also have an ipad2 and iphone4 ,, my facetime on imac doesnt work i cant choose prefences (and when i m trying to logging in says try your internet connection) my wifi connection is absolutely right .ipad and iphone works ok.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), problem with FaceTime
I have a 21" iMac (2011 I think) but could not face time a friend on an iPad in the States or my husband downstairs on his IPad 2. We are on SKy WiFi so what is the problem? He was able to connect with that friend in the States from his IPad but I couldn't.Â
I have my Mac Pro hooked up to my Amplifier, an Onkyo 805 via DVI>HDMI and an optical cable. Now i thought that this would be giving me 5.1 sound (which i think it does when playing DVDs) but with Quicktime files with 5.1 it seems that only 2 channels of audio are playing. I've tried the bitstream trick (Perian + Change the Plist file) and this seems to work fine for AC3 audio but not AAC,
When I make a call with FaceTime on my iMac it makes a loud chirping noise. I have OS X 10.7.3. I do not have any external microphones or speakers connected.
My Apple computer version 10.7.4 isn't sync'd up with my new I-Phone 4S Which I purchased lover the ast week sometime! I had iChat connected on my MacOX computer (version 10.7.4 ) before I bought the iphone last week... Now, when people dial me on iChat ...it rings on my cell phone and not my computer... How do I get it to ring on my computer too.Or if I can only use one device...I want it to ring on my computer!
I setup my new iMac (purchased 14 May 2014) with a whole bunch of FaceTime contacts.  These are there in my FaceTime pane. I bought an iPadAir last week and also have an iPhone. On both these Apple devices I also entered some FaceTime contact data, tried both out and they worked just fine; that is they talked to each other and other people. As this information was slightly different on all three devices, I wanted them to automatically follow what I have on my iMac, so I plugged them both in to the iMac. I then (separately) did a Sync of both devices from iTunes, and all the data for FaceTime in both cases instead of being updated and streamlined/synchronized with my iMac has been wiped. automatically rather than have to enter and re-enter all the data again and again each time I do a Sync.Â
Note: when I did the Sync the music I added today went where it should, so there's no problem with connections, etc. On the Info page I've clicked on "Sync Contacts" which would seem to be what was necessary. Now when I try to Sync either of these devices, the Sync process goes on and on and never stops. I can't see any way of stopping it other than doing a Force Quit of iTunes - which is pretty useless as I will obviously want to Sync these and my other Apple devices again in the future. As a result of this neither of these devices will now Sync with my iMac, other than locking themselves into a cintinuous loop. As I've just bought both the iMac and the iPadAir I could contact Apple direct, but I thought I'd try here first.
When I first started using my iMac, I started with an e-mail address that I could easily gain access to. Shortly after that, I learned what Facetime was an created an account using a different e-mail address. Is it possible to sync these two accounts? I would like to use one of these accounts for my Macbook.
I am trying to reset security question and answer for my Apple Account. I can authenticate with my own appId/password but I am stuck with resetting my security question/answer. I forgot my original security question/answer. How do I reset them?Â
