I've got 10.6 and iWork 08. Someone emailed me a Numbers 09 document which simply would not open, be it in iWork, Preview or anything else I tried. But I can see it in Quicklook. So the computer DOES understand the document, so is Apple just crippling everything else to persuade me to buy iWork 09 (which I can't see have any real improvements over 08)?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an application that can track, on a daily basis, what files I had open and for how long they were open. Mostly it's because I'm really bad at tracking my time spent on projects and by the time I get around to logging my time I can't remember what I did last week!
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy facetime was working fine until recently it asked for a login and this time when I did login with my Apple id, it prompted for email verification. However it is not able to complete the verification and keeps giving the following error message : Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again.
I have checked the support forums and they all point towards preferences. Problem is that the preferences option for face time is grayed out and I am not able to use them.

how do i get quick time player on my mac?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard on my iMac, and I just downloaded the newest version of Flip4Mac (2.3.0.14) today.
My previous version of flip4mac allowed me to play and skip through wmv movies in Quick Look, but this new version won't allow me to do that anymore.
The wmv movies still play fine in QuickTime and VLC Players (I added these applications to the preference pane for flip4mac as suggested by others), but they won't play properly in Quick Look.
Is there a way to fix this, or is the newest flip4mac version not fully compatible with Snow Leopard yet?
i was experimenting with Quick Time Player and recorded my voice. How do I erase this test? How do I record to a CD Instead of the Hard Drive?

I just upgraded to Leopard this week. I did a clean install and I am amazed at how good it runs. I have had not a single issue yet and all of my apps are happy.
The two new features that I really like and use more than I thought I would are spaces and quickview.
As it is right now, quick view can't "see" Adobe's illustrator or Indesign files, I just get a big icon. Do you know if adobe will be releasing plugins for quick view (I doubt) or has anyone else developed ones?
Quick Look has stopped working for MP4 file types. If I rename to M4V, Quick Look shows previews and thumbnails in finder. I have run:
$ qlmanange -d 1 -t test.mp4
It reports:Content type UTI: public.mpeg-4. Generator used: None. If I tell it to use -c public.movie, it does show the preview. What do I need to do to get my Quick Look working again?

Anyone else caught this? If I try to open a MIDI file in QTX, it tells me I need to launch QT7. Why would Apple release a half-complete version of QTX?

View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I installed Lion I have had a problem opening attachments to emails which are videos. Most of them I can open with VLC and a few with WMV Player, but none with Quick Time. If they are on my iPad or iPhone I can open them with VLC and send them to others. If they are on my Macbook Air I cannot send them because the email goes without the attachment.

I have a 13in MacBook Pro Mid 2012 model with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. I've got it new in the summer of 2012, and haven't had any real problems until now. I have a 1TB Hitachi external hard drive with over 600GB left of storage. I'm running Yosemite.
Lately, as in the past few weeks but more noticeably the past few days, I can't open files if I just double click on them from my desktop or from searching them outside of the application. For instance, if I click on a word document on my desktop, it will cause the work icon to bounce for a while, pretending to open, but it never does. If the application is already running, the file just won't open. If I search from the "open" selection within the application, it works fine. This is true for all of my Microsoft Office apps, Photoshop, Preview, iTunes, and everything in between, all of which I had never had a problem with before.
Next, anytime I try to backup my system using Time Machine, it simply shows the "Preparing Backup" status and never starts. I've had the hard drive and used it as a Time Machine since I got the computer, and have had zero problems at all.
I've tried CleanMyMac2, Memory Clean, and I've always kept my Mac very clean and organized, as in no duplicate files, moving my biggest files onto my hard drive, and deleting any of my unnecessary files. I know I don't have a ton of RAM left, but I'm honestly not completely sure what to do about that, as this model apparently doesn't have RAM updates available.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy kids made a video, edited it in iMovie and burned it to a CD. When we put the cd into our macbook pro and play it through QT Player the video pauses and stutters and the audio is not synced up to the lips, and that's if and when the audio does come on. The CD is fine as it does play as it should on the pc desktop that we have. What are we doing wrong?
