Has anyone used this app? I found an ad on MR, downloaded, and scanned but I'm a little apprehensive about the work that it does. Could removing the binaries on apps damage them at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use CleanMyMac to clean up once in a while. its great when deleting apps and such, you just send it to the trash and it finds all the extra stuff, deletes it, and quits on its own. Same when it comes to external drives, it deletes unneeded files from those as well. Once in a while I go into it to clean log files and such, I do not understand what the Universal Binary part is. I run a MBP 5,3 model, with snow leopard. Do I need to keep those files? It says its something that has to do with powerbook.

If you notice, there's a red box on the left of that entry, is it ok to clear those two entries? because every time i click on the red boxes it says:
'Removing gray-listed items may result in unexpected behaviour of some applications'
I want to know what to do with these entries as they seem pretty important.

I ran clean my mac for the first time a couple days ago. ever since then I have been noticing that random apps won't open. I've only found 3 so far but it's a big problem. they are transmission, pixelmator, and activity monitor. now transmission and pixelmator I can redownload but how do I get activity monitor again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded both CleanMyMac and ClamXav. Do the 2 programs do different jobs? If so, should I give one up for something else? I know that OS is pretty much impervious to most viruses, but I have been hit by viruses before, and those few instances have turned me into a very cautious person.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wanted to delete from my desktop some useless for me files like some ipsw files downloaded earlier, pwnage tool, but when I wanted to trash those ones, CleanMyMac asked if I'd like to uninstall pwnagetool, I marked yes, because I thought that there may be some register files, than trashed the rest of files (cleared trash) and after rebooting my Mac seems to be formated, I mean whole settings, iLifes libraries disappeared, settings were zeroed but apps and data in Documents and Downloaded were the same. (I am almost sure that the problem was in deleting files with CleanMyMac), anyway at first I thought that was a glitch, recovered time machine backup and did the same, than restarted Mac - the same, now I am 100% sure about that, but I have to waiting another 6h with my very fast WD MyBook - because that time is required to wait with it if you want to recover 120GB, I wish I had TimeCapsule.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

I tried to use DVD2One, which itself is very fast (considering that it uses all the CPU cores), but unfortunately it cannot handle copy-protected DVDs. First ripping the DVD on the Hd with Mac The Ripper is a time wasting, considering that in Windows AnyDVD simply removes the protection via software, without any previous extraction of the DVD content.

I've done lots of googling, and have even ventured to torrent sites to try and find a torrent with the original trial installation files. All I've found is 3+ Gb files containing more than one app, and it would take an age to download that.

I Clicked the lock in security (prefrences) to check my firewall and the window that you type your password in is written partly in arabic have I been compromised?

On my pc, I've been using Dvddecrypter + CloneDVD2 to make backups of my DVD movies. However, I cannot find a DVD re-encoding program for Mac. I know Handbrake can encode them to avi/mkv but that's not what I need, I just need to reencode my DVD's so they'll fit on a normal DVD-R (with a choice to get the menus and extras or not, ideally).Is there such software for Mac? all my pictures out of applications and into my library.
Also when I try and connect my camera to import my pictures my computer keeps looking for my time capsule.
If I hit command-space and begin typing something in Spotlight, then go to Safari 4 and hit command-F, the search box is prefilled with whatever I typed in Spotlight. I don't know if this is the intended behavior or not, but I don't recall it happening in Safari 3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue is the user is using Linotype Font Explorer X. I would like to move them all over to font book or just drop them in the font folder and let the applications handle them (if possible).
I exported them and tried to import them into font boot but 85% of them appear to be damaged. When i double click on the file they ethier dont open or open a blank text edit file.
How can i go though 1000s of fonts to find out which ones are usable and which ones arent? opening them one by one will take forever.
