i've been using switch to convert audio files forever, but it's slow and always makes my macbook fan spin out of control (and NOTHING else does that). anyone have a good, comprehensive, FREE alternative to switch to recommend?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've quickly searched around, and found too many options and no idea about the quality of each. One site has one list of ten "best" free video file converters, while another site has a completey different list of ten "best"!
So, I can't figure out what a good well-known, easy to use one is. I want to be able to convert random different types of video files into DVD-quality files to watch on my DVD player, and I want the quality to be good.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.
So, my needs are:
#1 - FAST
#2 - FREE
#3 - GOOD QUALITY CONVERSIONS
#4 - EASY TO LEARN/USE
I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

Haven't seen a converter that is free before for Mac yet.
I want to migrate my Parallels VM to VirtualBox. However, VB doesn't read Parallels VMs. I wanted to use the VMware converter, but the EULA says that it is only for use in migrating VMs for use in VMware software.
So, besides VMware converter, are there any other free tools that will let me convert my Parallels machine for use in VirtualBox? I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8.
this has probably been asked like a million times, but it's different, because I have loads of purchased audio that i want to convert with their ID3 data tags intact.
I'm really not in the mood to go through the converted files re-labelling them (so sure you guys would feel my ****** mood here...).ffmpegX is an awesome free tool but it kind of gets rid of the ID3, unless someone knows a trick I'm missing out on?
i need help finding a free video converter that will convert avi files into mpeg. so i can use it in imovie
View 3 Replies View RelatedLast month I ditched my landline as we wern't ever using it anymore. Well after doing so I remembered that my Fantasy Baseball draft is next month and we do that via a conference call as we have league members from all over the US.
Now, I could use my iPhone (and I may have to) but we all know all the iPhone has some issues with dropped calls from time to time.
So I was wondering if there anything on the market that would allow me make calls via VOIP on my Mac? Ideally free or even a 30 day free trail.
I am looking for a basic but functional clean business type iweb template, could not find a proper one yet, the ones i liked are not free.

I hope everybody is doing good out there! So here is my question...... Just looking for recommendations on a free DVD to MP4 converter.
I don't need anything special, just want to rip some DVDs and put them on my iPhone.
Is Handbrake any good?
I use WMA MP3 Converter on Windows to convert audio books I download from the Library to remove the DRM 2 week restriction so I can play them on my iPod without date restriction. I am new to the Mac and cannot find an application that does the same. Is anyone aware of one that will do this? It is unique in that it removes the DRM fairly quickly.
I also use a free application MP3 to Audio Book Converter to merge the converted files to bookmarkable format.
I have an HD MOV file I'd like to burn to a DVD with subtitles. I made a DVD in iDVD but obviously iDVD doesn't support .srt. I had the idea of replacing the separate episodes (I'm burning a series) with my own VOB files I made with different software. That way I could have my soft subtitles. But FFMPEGX won't work; I've tried nearly everything but there's this huge problem with the framerate which makes it basically unwatchable. Note that I live in Europe so this DVD should be PAL. The files have 23.98 FPS and I need to go to 25 for it to work in a DVD player. What's the best software for this kind of thing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently own a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 hard disk camcorder. It records in .MOD files. I cannot view them in quicktime on my imac g3. I have tried opening them as is, and renaming them to .MPG and .MOV. I found that HandBrake will do the job, but I cannot find a PowerPC version for 10.4. 0.9.1 should work, but I cannot find the installer files. If anyone knows of any other way to convert them, tell me. I need to be able to open them in iMovie '04 to edit them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've searched these forums and tried a few converters but nothing seems to be good. I used to use visual hub which up until recently was okay. Untill i tried to convert the film office space which i have as a matroska file to an mp4 for my iPhone. The film wouldnt run well and was very laggy on the iPhone. I got handbrake and that works fine for converting the film and makes .mkv's run smooth on the iPhone when converted to mp4, the only problem is that the program crashes after a while usually after converting one film. to cut a long story short! can anyone suggest some more video converters i can try that will work well with snow leopard?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a video that is ".mov" and I cant use it in SonyVegas (Windows 7) cause it shows no Video (just audio) So I'm trying to convert it to other format that hopefully wont make it look like crap and that will work with SonyVegas . I try iSkysoft Video Converter and it works, but It loose too much quality , the original .mov is 2GB and the biggest better quality i can get with that app is like 400-500mb. I'm giving up, I've search youtube and google for hours in the last 3 days without any success of making the .mov to work on sonyvegas or converting it, that's why i decided maybe someone in here can help me, I'm still kinda like a noob on MAC OS X
