View 7 RepliesMany extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed. However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
I originally thought this was a side effect of my 8600M GT failing, but the video card has been replaced and this problem is still occurring.
I attached a screenshot of what top sites looks like for me whenever i open a new tab while the current tab is zooming in to a top site after i click on one.
if i wait for the end of the zoom in graphic effect, then i don't have any problems.
After replacing the whole logic board, the genius bar reps have come to the conclusion that this must be a software issue.
i have an issue on eBay with Safari 4. The problem I have is the dropdown menu where you sort the items. I can't get the dropdown to open up so I can change the option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Safari works perfectly fine until I log into Facebook (this problem started to happen about a month and a half ago) - it will freeze on me and I have to force quit Safari. Is there any way I can fix this problem on Safari? I've noticed that my friends MacBook as well as my parents MacBook don't have this problem...
As for my MSN... only pictures taken from Photo Booth will work as my display pictures and I don't receive notifications when contacts sign online (even though I have that preference checked off in alerts to alert me).
Since installing Snow Leopard I've been unable to print from Safari. When I click File>Print no print window appears and more often than not it locks up Safari requiring a Force Quit.I'm not having this issue with any other apps including Firefox.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNow that I got my 24" LCD that apparently can't be pivot from landscape to portrait mode in OSX, I would like to at least be able to view two web pages side by side, since the 24" display is wide enough for this. Alas, I don't see a way of opening a second instance of Safari (the way you can do it with IE Explorer in Windows side).
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my MacBook (running Leopard) Safari 3.0.4 will not go fullscreen, instead it leaves a small gap between the bottom of Safari and the bottom of my screen.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows XP SP2, (going to switch to Mac as soon as I get enough money!), and I want to know how to install a plug-in in Safari 3.0.4, mainly, Inquisitor.
I've found the "Plugins" folder that is in the Safari application folder, I just don't know whether to put the entire folder there, or a certain file. >_<
I usually use Firefox but thought I'd try out Safari. I click on a site and add it to my bookmarks but it doesn't show up under "Bookmarks" (like every other browser)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to snow leopard and found a problem with my Safari browser - I cannot change my homepage to [URL] or any other page, the preferences always revert my homepage to the apple homepage.
When I installed 10.6, I did a "clean install" then copied over my bookmarks and history files from my backup drive. I then ran software update to update everything to the latest versions.
mp3 and pdfs get "0 bytes of ? - network connection lost" when I try Download linked file or Download link file as...
e.g. [URL]
It works fine in Chrome.
Restated Safari (5) and disk permissions are ok...
I've been unable to download any program applications from the internet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I go to the MLB page of ESPN, Safari loads the page, then beachballs. I then have to force quit the application.
This seems to happen on pages that have video.

Newest Flash Player downloaded and installed.
My Safari and Firefox, which are both updated to latest, both crash and freeze on all pages with flash on them. What do I do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the New MacBook Pro 13inch with Snow Leopard.
I have the latest Safari, Firefox, and Flash.
Recently I have been noticing that while running flash programs on Safari my browser will freeze and then I have to force quit the application.
Thinking this might just be a Safari problem, I downloaded Firefox but I am experiencing the same problems. I tried running Safari using 32-bit and Rosetta but still experiencing crashing.
I have a macbook 2.2GHz Core 2 Due with 4GB of ram...
Skype is the app that keeps crashing the most, Safari and Firefox crash from time to time as well... and Mail.app crashes sometimes when Skype and Safari crash...
I already perform a fresh installation of the OS and no luck. I also kept on doing "repair disk permissions" with Disk Utility but also no luck...
The last time I performed a Tech Deluxe check and all test passed...
I think the problem can be either disk issues or faulty memory... in the worst of the worst motherboard .
I cannot get a solid answer on this one. Since the update it seems that safari fails to save my login info. For example I have to re-enter my username and pass for macrumors atleast once everyday. Also it seems that Safari occasionally hogs more memory and resources after extended use. Anyone else?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open up Safari, and go to Preferences > Security , underneath the fraudulent sites check box is this message: "The Google safe browsing service is unavailable. No updates have occurred in 3 days."
The other day I unchecked that option, closed safari, relaunched it, rechecked it, played a little with ticking that box and eventually the message was gone. But not this time Has anyone found an automatic procedure to make this message go away?
Restored my HD this AM from a TM backup and am experiencing a lot of problems which include (1) Safari and iPhoto crash upon launch, (2) Mail launches but crashes when I attempt to access an email, (3) I have several "offline images" in my Aperture Library and any attempt to access metadata results in a crash.

A few days ago my email was hacked into which sent a spam email to all my contacts. I changed my password to that account, warned everyone in my contacts, and haven't had a problem with email since. However, I tried to do the 'delete all cookies' again and when I go to safari/preferences/privacy...there is nothing on that screen under that tab. Not even a question mark. I changed my history items to be removed every day from every week but don't think that would be the issue.

My DSL speed hasn't changed in the 1 min it took to download, install, and restart. Safari 3 seems twice as fast as the older version on my MP.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter install Logitech Control Centre 3.1 (or at least it happened after I restarted for it), I keep getting this weird Safari UI glitch:
It only happens when I open a new tab in the background (cmd+click) and goes when I click on it.
I've had this problem for a while, I've taken it to the Genius bar, but still no love.
The problem: Safari pretty much works fine, except for a couple of websites, like Apple's One-to-One page and Netflix.
When I attempt to sign in on 1-to-1, an error message tells me to update Safari 3.0 and install it. The same happens with netflix - instant watch.
My Mac is fully update with Snow Leopard and the latest Safari (v 4.0.5). To make it even more weird, I get the same message when using FireFox.
I noticed that there is a problem with e-banking and the newly updated Safari. I can get into my face page but I cannot open the e-checking portion of the bank's e-bank page. The bank told me that they have had many problems with Safari since the update. I opened up FireFox and everything works OK. Is the general concensus, from what I have read, the problem is JAVA? I have resetted and thrown away the cookies persuant to by bank.
