On my PCs I use a program called Fineprint and it lets me "print" pages and pages and stores them until I want to print them to a printer all at once or to a PDF and combine them. It's really sweet if you have a shared printer or want multiple pages on one piece of paper. Anything like this for a Mac?

I've found them online and wonder if I just should RAID three or four of them as opposed to one Seagate 500GBs or 750 with 32GB cache? These would all be a Raid run by Apple software not a RAID card.

I've used directory services and he can sign in and authenticate with his Windows AD credentials with no issue as well as access all resources. Problem is he travels a lot and needs to be able to login off of our internal network. Windows will cache login creds for offline logins. Is there a way to allow this in OS X also?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I have created a video presentation for a project I am working on using Final Cut Pro. I noticed Final Cut Pro creates a default folder in Documents called "Final Cut Pro Documents." This folder contains six additional folders:
1. Audio Render Files
2. Autosave Vault
3. Capture Scratch
4. Render Files
5. Thumbnail Cache Files
6. Waveform Cache Files
Is it safe to delete these six folders? I wouldn't otherwise care, but collectively they are taking up 25 GB on my HD. I'm not planning to delete the actual FCP project files and their attached media, but rather the above six folders which appear to be cache? Do I run any risk of losing my entire presentation if I delete these six folders, or is it simply a matter of just re rendering my project if I delete them?
Is there any thing available that will allow me to print to a PDF file? I'm trying to export something to a PDF file that does not have the feature as standard. I know it can be done in Windows as there are a few Print to PDF applications. but I can't find a Mac one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I have a Kodak ESP-3 connected via USB to my Desktop with Windows 7 on it. I've enabled sharing on my printer, and my roommates can print off my printer no problem at all. When I tried to connect my mac to the printer, I'm at a loss. One guide I found told me to go to Applications > Utilities > The printer option (I can't remember what its called). The printing option isn't listed under utilities, or I'm passing over it. I went to system preferences and selected the printer, but my Kodak isn't coming up. I've enabled sharing on my mac, and same thing. I don't expect my Mac and Win machine to play nice together, but I'm hoping that at the very least I'll be able to print from my mac with out having to keep constantly unplugging my printer from my desktop. My roommate just bought a new router a few weeks ago, but failed to get one capable of network printing, so picking up a new router is out of the question right now....

I have set up a mac ibook running 10.4.11 as a print server. I want to be able to print with full printer (hp psc 1500) functionality (bonjour doesn't appear to allow that) from the xp box. I have set it up through CUPS on the mac. However, the XP box (it does see the printer) does nothing with the documents. They appear to be sitting there to be printed. We have a broken networkport on our HP Laserjet P2015dn, and need it to print from 4 macs in the office. 3times osX 10.4.11 and 1time osX 10.6.4 (all except 1 non-intel; running windows XP via Parallels and connected on the general office network). I am currently sharing the printer via USB (broken networkport) connected via a Mac using 10.4.11. I can print from every Mac, obviously. However, I can't print or know how to set this up for use in Windows (parallels).

View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm helping a friend with her home network. She has an Airport Extreme wired to a 17" G5 iMac running Tiger and a Pentium running XP SP2. A couple MacBook Pros connect by wireless. She has an HP LaserJet 1320 plugged into the Airport Extreme.
All the Macs are playing nicely.
The Pentium's Internet connection works fine, but it won't print.
A while back I installed Bonjour for Windows on the Pentium. I gather it worked for a day or so, then stopped working. Earlier today I uninstalled and reinstalled Bonjour. No dice. The computer won't acknowledge that there is a printer on the network, and won't let me install one.
There is antivirus software and a firewall on the Pentium. (I don't remember which software packages offhand.) The correct port is open for Bonjour.
Also, any recommendations for attaching an HD to the Airport, for backups and file sharing? If I hook up a hub, how many peripherals can be attached to it, and how many can be shared by the various computers?
I have a 2010 MacBook Air with Lion system software. I connect to my Window XP computer at home to get on the network with no problems. I have an HP Printer and cannot figure out how to connect to via the network.My previous PC notebook was able to connect and print via the network.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI spent several hours trying to get this working. I had managed to make it work like a charm last year but I had to format my mac and I lost my printers... so here we go again.
Office setting (I am at University, that's why we all go out with out own public IPs):
- windows XP computer connecting directly to the internet with its own IP address, we shall say 123.456.789.0
A HP laserjet 4100 printer connected to the windows XP computer, called Printer2
- airport extreme connecting directly to the internet with its own IP address, we shall say 098.765.432.1
- macbook connected to airport. Note that this way macbook and windows are not in the same workgroup.
I made the windows xp share the printer and I added some exceptions to the firewall so that it would accept incoming printing jobs from the airport's IP 098.765.432.1. I downloaded the Laserjet drivers on the mac.
And then, I tried every possible configuration to add the printer. IPP, LPD, Socket, SMB...
I tried putting as a queue just Printer2, I tried putting /printers/Printer2.. I even tried things like username:password@123.456.789.0:port... nothing worked. I just cannot manage to print, and I actually cannot even make the mac recognize the printer.
I remember I once found out what the problem was... but that was long ago and I forgot about it..It even kept working as I switched from an old access point to the airport..

Have a windows laptop and an ibook (macOsX tiger) connected wireless to the router. Can print fine from the windows laptop to the printer. Internet and email work fine on both the laptop and ibook.
Can anybody tell me how i can get the ibook to print (wireless) to the printer. I allready downloaded the driver from the HP site and try to add the printer through Ip printing. This appaers to have gone allright but when i try to print nothing happens, I don't see a printjob in the cue.

Trying everything from installing ix4000's driver to CUPS driver and so on. The printer works fine when connected to my MacBook Pro but when trying to print on windows xp network.. nothing happens.
Sometimes it says not authorized some time it keeps on trying.

I'm trying to print an Excel 2004 .xls spreadsheet file where I'm using to record attendance for the class I teach.I have my main Column A with Rows A-X and it shows up fine, I imagine because there is content in the boxes.
But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print.I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?
I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?
I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.
