me and my friend are starting to make a small site and want to try out iweb. The one problem I found is where does this file save to, I mean if my friend wants to work on the site where do i find the file to send it to him.
View 10 RepliesI'm using iWeb '06 1.1.2 on an Intel iMac.
I moved my iWeb files around to consolidate and discard duplicate files between my Mac's HD, duplicate files on the desktop and an external drive. I just did an update to my site and to my horror, it "couldn't save media files" - and showed a long list of files. I went and found them from the new location on my HD and re-dropped the movie and picture files in. Then, when I tried to save, it listed three new but non-specific files ("movie" "dropped pict image"). I checked the pages and all pictures and videos are visible. Then when I tried to save again, almost the entire previous list of "Missing" files (most of which were visible anyway) came up again as being unable to be saved.
Then, when saving, it doesn't know where iWeb is. Here's the error message:
"The location of the document iWeb cannot be determined. You can specify where to save it."
So it called itself "Domain" and it saved itself to the Desktop. Then it told me that it would be replaced...fine. The thing is, it has never done this before. I looked in the my-name-little house-folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb, and there is a Domain file in there too, and it opens the same iWeb as the one on the desktop.
I have no idea why this is happening. Something has gone screwy - obviously it did not like having its files moved around, but I have replaced those files from the same ones in the new location.
I can't save the files, and can't close the application. I tried again, and now it shows a whole new list of files it "can't save".
My website looks fine after the update I did earlier this summer and I don't want to lose the work I put into it.
I created my website in iWeb '08 about a year ago and it's finally time to update it, but I'm running into a few problems.First, I'm using a new computer now, although I transferred all of the files from one HD to the other. When I go to open iWeb on my MacBook, I can't access my old site. I never worked on my site from my new computer, but I have all the files. I have the actual files (such as .jpgs and mp3s) in an organized folder. The website itself and all the information is in the folder that I upload via FTP to my server. How do I get to open all of those in iWeb so that I can edit the site?

I recently bought a macbook and transferred by Iweb file for my webistes to it from my imac - I had to change some of the fonts etc to fit with the format. I am having few problem: 1. can seem to get iweb on the imac to recognise it oping only in macbook application via network even though I have binned the origional domains2. once uploaded to my ftp the format looks all ou (even though it doesn't on the screen prior to uploading)I alomst feel I will have to update the whole old file even though i've spent ages doing it on the mac book

I can receive, but I am unable to send anyone anything....any suggestions? I can send files through yahoo...so I'm not too sure why AIM hates me so much.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to save my first garageband file as an mp3. When I click share -> send song to iTunes, a tube appears, showing that the operation is occurring, but it never arrives. I've tried different names of playlists, but no luck. Either the operation doesn't happen or the file's title changes. I looked in all the folders where newly created mp3's go and no luck. I've searched iTunes and can't find any new files.

I have a report I have to present so I have to do it on my PC. Problem is that they have MACs that have microsoft office 2008. Question is if i save a file on the MS PP 2007 for PC would it work on MS PP 2008 on a mac? Or would I have to save it as a 97-03 PP file that would be an extension of .ppt. I believe the extension for the 2007 PP is .pptx.

My problem is that I had backed up my site a long time ago, after which i have made many changes. Now when I open iWeb it takes me back to the original days of the site. I still have the desired folder in "Sites", but can seem to get in onto iWeb. Is there any way to put my latest site back onto iweb?

My old MB got attacked by some tea and died. So now i have a new unibody although the main thing that i have lost from my old MB is my iWeb pages.

I have a fairly big photo library in iphoto 09 and I am wondering if there is an option to save information like location, description, date etc to the actual picture file. The reason I ask is because when I went to export some pictures it didnt save any of this information whatsoever and with 4000 photos thats a lot of work to go add all that information back to. I've put a lot of work into customizing the theme, and iLife 09 is currently being shipped to me. In iWeb 09, can I still maintain and build on this site even though the theme is not included anymore? And, if not, is there a way that I can find the theme data in Finder and copy and paste that into the theme data files in iWeb 09?

I open it back up to check on it and *poof* it's completely gone. I searched my hardrive and the file exists but it will not open with iMovie or Quicktime. Is there any way to recover this video?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed over the last few days that whatever i save, (word doc, iphoto, e-mail, iweb, final draft scripts) or create a new folder... it doesn't show on the desktop unitl i either restart the machine or log out and then log back in... and then all the files that haven't been appeared at the time show up.Any ideas on how to stop this without giving my machine a clean instal?

Just put together a CV using Open Office, it's currently saved as a .odt. I'll be sending this out to a few companies and I'd like to know what the best file type is to select that will be readable by everyone? When I go to 'save as' I see a long list of options and I'm not sure which one to pick so that PC users can view.
Or can they load the .odt file just fine?
I try to open an Open Office spread sheet and it simply saves the file as another file with the .cpgz extension which does the same thing. This did not happen a couple weeks ago; I think my download for Apple updates may be the culprit. My OS X is now 10.7.3, I believe originally it was 10.7.2 but I could be wrong.
The original document is a zip archive but now "saves as" a .cpgz archive. I have tried the "Unarchiver", which I just downloaded, but it only creates another file with subfolders, none of which appear to have my original spread sheet. (To be honest, I never noticed this Open Office spread sheet file was a zip file until a few minutes ago when I tried to unsuccessfully open it).

How do I send a PDF with a file name rather than seeing the entire file in the e-mail?

I want to be able to right click on a file and have the the option to send it to a mail recipient. Very Windows like I know but I think its a useful feature.
However with a twist I want to send it via GMail not the Mail app.
Is this at all possible?
