ITunes For Mac :: How To Add Status Bar To Bottom Of 11.4
Sep 11, 2014In the past, on Itunes 11.0, when I opened the program, there would be a bar on top that would read, "File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help" and below , a status bar that would tell me the number of tracks in a playlist and duration, "7 Songs, 28:20 Total Time, 51 MB"..Those controls/status bars are gone in the new 11.4 edition of iTunes. Â

Applications :: Changing ITunes Display At Bottom Of Page
Nov 3, 2009I guess this is a bit trivial, but I want to change the display at the bottom of my iTunes screen. The part that tells you how many albums you have, the total playing time, and size. Currently, this is displayed with the European system of using commas instead of points as the decimal separators. I may be crazy, but I'm pretty sure it used to have points and then a few days ago, it switched on me. I noticed it after I installed an update. Is there a way of changing it back?

Oct 16, 2008I'm running Leopard (10.5.5) on an Intel g5 iMac. I noticed this afternoon when trying to drop an app into my 'Applications' folder that I had to enter my password in order to do. Checking the 'Get info' pane for the folder I noticed that the permission status for 'everyone' was set to 'read only'. I have no idea how this happened but it must have been fairly recently as I was happily dropping apps into the folder only a few days ago. There are also two other 'names' in the panel labeled as 'unknown', one of whom has read & write permission and one of whom is also 'read only'.
There are only two user accounts on my mac and we are both administrators, so I don't know why there are so many entries under the 'Sharing and Permissions' section. So anyway, I unlocked the panel with my password and tried to flip the permission for everyone from 'read only' to 'read & write'. I got the following error dialogue: "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error has occurred. Error code - 8076." I tried to add a new 'administrators' group to the permissions panel with read and write access but received the same error.

Aug 30, 2009Does anyone know how to get rid of all those status messages in iChat? Since installing Snow Leopard, there are a bunch of them. I could care less about people knowing I'm surfing the web, reading email, on the phone, etc. I prefer just "Available" and "Away" as those tell if I can chat or not.
I've tried:
- deleting all the status messages from the buddy list (no longer appear in the status message drop down menu of the buddy list, but still appear when you click the balloon icon in the menu bar)
- deleting all the .plist files to reset iChat (no luck)
Applications :: Adium / AIM Stopped Working - Wrong Online Status?
Oct 10, 2009I have been using Adium for years, previously on my iBook and now on my new MacBook without any problems. Recently, it stopped working. I use my AIM and Jabber screennames on it. When I open it, it shows that I am connected and online. However, it tells me that none of my buddies are online, even though they are. My friends have also told me that I don't appear on their Buddy lists even when my Adium tells me I'm online.
I downloaded the latest version of Adium and this didn't help. It still does it. As far as I know, it's only the AIM that isn't working. I think the Jabber still works, but I am not positive. This also occasionally happens with my AIM app on my iPod Touch when it happens on my Adium. I am assuming this means there is something wrong with my AIM screenname and not necessarily with Adium? Do you think getting a new AIM screenname would help? It's definitely just the AIM that isn't working. Jabber works fine.
OS X :: Re Size Itunes Without Clicking On Bottom Right?
May 24, 2009iTunes is huge, and when I try to resize it (Bottom right 'button'), the Dock shows up. I tried to hide the dock, move it to the left/right, and iTunes is still lower than that area. So, ultimately is there a way I can resize iTunes without clicking on the bottom right?

May 6, 2012Typically in Itunes when "music" is clicked at the bottom of the songs window there is an autofill option. I no longer see that option. Where did it go? I want to change what playlist my Itouch syncs with and I can't without having access to the autofill feature.

Jun 25, 2012I just got a new Macbook Pro with a 15" screen. When I moved files from my 27" iMac the iTunes window is so large that I cannot see the bottom third of the window on the 15" screen. And I cannot access the lower right-hand corner so that I can resize the screen to fit the 15" window. Therefore I cannot see about a third of the music currently in iTunes. If I encounter the same problem with other applications or files, is there a solution that works for all occurrences?

ITunes :: Every Time Click On Album It Takes To The Bottom?
Apr 23, 2012Whenever I click on the "Album" column header, I'm sent to the bottom of the column. For instance, when I want to change the playing order I will alternate between the "Artist" and "Album" columns. When I click on other column headers, I don't get this problem.Â
While this isn't a life-altering issue, I find it super annoying.Â
Is there something I can do to stop this from happening? Or is this a glitch?Â

May 27, 2010I had an X25-M in my hands yesterday but RMA'd it to newegg and got the Momentus XT (see my thread). Yes, performance is very good but it only remembers your most used apps. I want consistent speed across the board no matter which app it is. Also, the main reason I am returning is I did not think the vibration was too much until I threw my 5400 Hitachi stock drive back into the machine.It's night and day difference. So I'm going to Optibay+X25-M it. Sucks I have to deal with returns and bite the 15% restocking fee on the Momentus XT (and about $12 for cancelling the order for the optibay alternative+ SATA SuperDrive enclosure) in addition to returning the item, but now I know.

OS X :: Returning To Leopard Due To Unreliable Performance Of SL
Sep 1, 2009It's with some trepidation that I've decided to return to Leopard. For all its great points, Snow Leopard is just too buggy right now for day-to-day use. Even after a clean install (several clean installs, actually) the Finder is still laggy, mouse performance is unreliable when FW800 drives are connected, setting '.mov' files to open with QuickTime Player 7 results in all their icons breaking - I could go on, but these few flaws are enough to disrupt me from my video editing work.
I'm sure the creases will be ironed out in time, but I can't live with an OS (no matter how technically refined) that doesn't behave correctly under the most BASIC circumstances. In fact, I can't think of a single thing I'll miss about SL, apart from maybe the new wallpapers and the fact that Mail now auto sets up MobileMe accounts correctly.
IMac :: Buying And Returning A Refurb?
May 15, 2010I'm thinking of buy a refurb 27" i7 but I'm worried about what the deal is with returns. What If I get one that has a huge scratch on the back or something, can I still return it seeing as they do say there might be some cosmetic damage?
Or if the yellow screen issue is still in play, can I return a refurb with no problems?
Also, how do return work? I live nearly 80miles from the nearest Apple store, so would I send it to Apple or would they pick it up?

I am having second thoughts about my purchase and would just prefer the Air for basic college needs and, of course, portability. If I do return/exchange at the apple store, can I do this by just exchanging my MBP for a MBA without my free iPod and printer promo being taken away? I have already given the iPod as a gift, but still have the printer on me.
