I can't log into iCloud it keeps returning error

On my MBP, I get the error "iCloud server not responding" in the iCloud section of System Preferences under Back to My Mac. My Mac Mini doesn't have this issue. Both are running Mavericks and on the same network. I can screen share over wifi but not over the Internet because of the above issue with the MBP.
I've spent way to much time with Apple's techs on this. Using another iCloud account doesn't work. Safe mode doesn't work. Using another OS account doesn't work. I do have iCloud setup on my Time Capsule router.
Trying to send an email in Mavericks Mail from iCloud account and got the following error: MCMailErrorDomain error 1032.
Does this simply mean that iCloud had a hiccup (there was no outage reported at [URL], or is there something that I can do to prevent this from happening?
For the last two days every time I try to connect to AIM in messages I get this error "An undefined AIM socket error has occurred." I have quit the app, changed servers, trashed the Prefs but none of these have cured the problem.

I delete my cookies and they come right back! How can I resolve this problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know one can turn the finder and OS to 64 bit, by holding down the 6 and 4 keys during boot up. But, how can one do it the other way around (I'd like to simply try it again, since I am getting HUGE memory usage on my 4GB MBP) I have tried holding down the 3 and 2 keys upon boot up, but that doesn't seem to work?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had an X25-M in my hands yesterday but RMA'd it to newegg and got the Momentus XT (see my thread). Yes, performance is very good but it only remembers your most used apps. I want consistent speed across the board no matter which app it is. Also, the main reason I am returning is I did not think the vibration was too much until I threw my 5400 Hitachi stock drive back into the machine. It's night and day difference. So I'm going to Optibay+X25-M it. Sucks I have to deal with returns and bite the 15% restocking fee on the Momentus XT (and about $12 for cancelling the order for the optibay alternative+ SATA SuperDrive enclosure) in addition to returning the item, but now I know.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's with some trepidation that I've decided to return to Leopard. For all its great points, Snow Leopard is just too buggy right now for day-to-day use. Even after a clean install (several clean installs, actually) the Finder is still laggy, mouse performance is unreliable when FW800 drives are connected, setting '.mov' files to open with QuickTime Player 7 results in all their icons breaking - I could go on, but these few flaws are enough to disrupt me from my video editing work.
I'm sure the creases will be ironed out in time, but I can't live with an OS (no matter how technically refined) that doesn't behave correctly under the most BASIC circumstances. In fact, I can't think of a single thing I'll miss about SL, apart from maybe the new wallpapers and the fact that Mail now auto sets up MobileMe accounts correctly.
I'm thinking of buy a refurb 27" i7 but I'm worried about what the deal is with returns. What If I get one that has a huge scratch on the back or something, can I still return it seeing as they do say there might be some cosmetic damage?
Or if the yellow screen issue is still in play, can I return a refurb with no problems?
Also, how do return work? I live nearly 80miles from the nearest Apple store, so would I send it to Apple or would they pick it up?
Is there any way to get back the status bar at the bottom that told you how many songs were in a playlist, how long the play-time was, etc.?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a 13" MBP for $1099 along with the iPod Touch 8GB and Canon printer. I am having second thoughts about my purchase and would just prefer the Air for basic college needs and, of course, portability. If I do return/exchange at the apple store, can I do this by just exchanging my MBP for a MBA without my free iPod and printer promo being taken away? I have already given the iPod as a gift, but still have the printer on me. Also, I am heavily considering just getting a refurb off Apple.com but I think that will just make the process harder with the free iPod and printer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I had decided to bite the bullet a week and a half ago and order an iMac i7 refurb for $1900 from the Canadian Apple Store...
So here's this refresh that has a new graphics card (and minor speed enhancements?)
I am thinking of buying SC2 (and other games in the future) and I'm wondering if its worth returning my current i7 model to get a new i5 refresh with a new graphics card?
I mainly will be using my computer for online video marketing (creating promo videos for businesses) and keynote/screenflow videos...so I know my i7 will deliver in that aspect...
I just would hate to know that I bought a "new computer" that isn't as "future proof" as this new refresh (I plan to keep my computer for 3-4 years)
I opened a new Finder window to find out that all the icons in the sidebar are gone, and going to finder --> preferences doesn't help. They're still ticked, but don't show up. I tried unticking them all, closing preferences, then opening preferences and ticking them again. No luck. I tried restarting the computer, no luck. I've heard that dragging the file com.apple.finder.plist onto the desktop and restarting helps, but I can't find it. It's not in Library/Preferences and a search doesn't show it. I can see a veriety of other com.apple.----- files but not the finder one.

For the last day and half, I've been unable to access my iCloud email through Mail on Lion. I get the following error:
The server returned the error: The connection to host p03-imap.mail.me.com on port 143 failed.
According to the system status, iCloud Mail did have an issue but apparently they think it's resolved. why I'm still getting an error? I have no problems accessing iCloud Mail on any other devices or through Safari.

I have migrated on both my MacPro and MBP to iCloud, I assume my iPhone has too. So every now and again this message pops up (on Mac Pro) " You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences." click [OK] a few times and it goes away for a while... click [open mobileMe preferences] and get message "Your MobileMe account has been upgraded (!!) to iCloud"

I changed my Apple ID and iCloud ID today. But when I use iCal on my May 2011 iMac running Lion, the iCloud calendar shows up in iCal; however, I keep getting an error message asking for a password for the previous iCloud ID. I have removed the iCloud calendar from iCal twice and reinstalled it with the current ID and password. Everything works; but I still get the dialogue box asking for the passwork for the previous ID. It requires me to cancel it several times before it final disappears. How do I remove the previous ID so I won't get the error message?

In order to use my mail, I now have to use the browser instead of my mail application because of the new "upgrade". Unfortunately, my online mailbox keeps blacking out saying that my messages more than a week old cannot be displayed at this time. I cannot upgrade to Lion because I use software with my clients that is no longer supported in Lion.

I am using the Apple Mail application on both machines for my [url].. address.I migrated to iCloud (Mail Only Option) on thursday 6/28 and changed my mail server settings in Tiger on my G5 iMac according to Roger Wilmut's instructions today 7/1. I have yet to do this on my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8.
Now in Tiger when I try to send an email I am getting a certificate error:
Unable to verify SSL server [url]...
Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server which has a certificate issued to "*.mail.me.com". The error was:
The root certificate for this server could not be verified.
You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "smtp.mail.me.com", and putting you confidential information at risk.I clicked Show Certificate and the certificate has a blue border, [url].., issued by Entrust Certification Authority-L1C, Expires Wed. Get error messages, "does not recognize password" etc. Have working on Snow Leopard, iPhone iPad but not 10.4.11 PPC Mail. I used Apple support set up. I originally had a .mac account and have tried both XXXX@mac.com and xxx.me.com as username. I Upgraded my password to stronger suggested strength. (one cap and one letter minimum 8) I verified Keychain. I have even deleted everything including Keychain and account and started over numerous times, still no joy. Ports are incoming 993 and outgoing 587. Will not be upgrading this machine due to production software issues but was told I could stll use the .mac email
