MacBook Pro :: Send High Resolution Photos As Attachments, Not Imbedded In Emails?
Feb 15, 2012How can I send high resolution photos from iphoto11 as attachments, not imbedded and made lower resolution in emails? Each time I try to do this, I choose the "actual size" option in iphoto, but I'm told by repients that the photos come through in lower resolution than I sent them and they were imbedded not attached.
There must be a way to send high reolution, suitable for reporduction, photos. After all Apple is said to be super in graphics. All the tutorials, even my "One to One" guru give instructions for imbedding the photos.

Feb 27, 2012I'm trying to send photos through iPhoto, on my mac. I wrote the wrong password when I choose to use iCloud. It accepted it, but when I try to send a e-mail with the photos it denies it. I can't seem to figure out how to change account.

Jun 1, 2012While using iPhoto last night it stopped attaching any photos to my e-mails. It sends the photo number to the subject line but will not attach thre photo to the message.
A new photo taken today will attach as normal but all old ones in the Events folders of iPhoto refuse to attach by any means available. I have tried using the 'Attach' facility in my Apple Mail (version 4.5) but although it brings up thumbnails photos it will not allow selection for attachment.
I have re-booted to no avail.

Mar 16, 2009I have one problem again regarding my "MAIL"
I can send emails, without any problems...but I can't RECEIVE any emails, at all. All of a sudden.
On the left bottom corner, I can see, receiving 1 of 4, and after 1 min, the bar is gone, and I cannot get any emails at all.
When I login to the webmail (abc.com/webmail for instance), I can find there're 4 emails sitting there "unread"
May I know what's the problem? and how to fix it? because I want to be able to receive the mails from MAIL instead of logging in to webmail all the time.

Oct 2, 2009I have an issue with my Apple Mail. I've configured my server's email on it. Now it works all fine when I setup a new account; I can easily send and receive emails.
However, after I quit the application, and reopen it, I can ONLY send emails! I don't receive any emails!

Mar 31, 2009I've been using Mail.app for quite a while now. I have two email accounts linked up to it, one being a gmail and the other my school email. The Gmail account is a POP server and everything works great. I can send/receive all my emails and its fine. My school email is an IMAP account and while I can receive emails I cannot send emails through the IMAP server unless I am at school. Is this an issue with my incoming and outgoing mail servers? I am assuming this is the problem but honestly I am not sure. I also have noticed Gmails new IMAP capability. Would this possibly benefit me? Could I forward my IMAP account to Gmail and then use Gmails server to send emails through my school account.

Dec 31, 2009I would like to set up a single/separate contact group in Address book with 4 email addresses. I want to send a copy of attachments in 1 email to all 4 addresses at the same time, by typing in only the contact group. I know I can do this by creating 4 different contacts in that contact group, BUT can I set it up so I have only 1 contact in that group with the 4 email addresses listed in that 1 contact and have the attachments sent to all 4 emails without having to create 4 separate and distinct addresses. Does that make any sense??
I want to use these addresses to function as "flash drives" to save attachments.

Mar 30, 2009I am new to Mac so please bear with my incompetence. I have managed to find the plugin HTTPMail to add to Apple Mail in enable the use of my hotmail account in this software. Strangely, though, I cannot see any emails (i.e. it has not synchronised any of my folders/mails), I cannot receive any, BUT I have tried sending one and it actually worked. Would there be a step that I missed? I am on Leopard version 10.5.6., Mail version 3.5.

Oct 27, 2009I have been suffering from this issue with Mail for a long time, and I have finally decided to attempt to seek out a resolution. I have noticed that since I began using MobileMe, Mail has taken an extraordinarily long time to send emails. It takes at least a minute to send around 5 lines of text, which seems rather excessive. I have noticed this on Leopard (10.5.8) and Snow Leopard (10.6.1).
When I send emails from my MobileMe account on my iPhone, it takes seconds, so I haven't noticed any similar issues there. I opened up the connection doctor in Mail and found that it took a long time to report a successful connection to both MobileMe and the MobileMe smtp server. I allowed Snow Leopard to automatically set up my mail account, so I don't believe that it is an issue with settings. Has anyone experienced something similar, and is there a fix I could try?

Oct 14, 2010Last year I bought a MacPro Desktop, and just recently got iLife '09. I'd move all the photo's onto my external LaCie Hard Drive. and I'd like to move them back again, i.e direct iPhoto's to these photo's that are on my external Hard Drive. I've made an extensive search before coming on hear to ask, but I can only seem to find "How to send photo's from iPhotos onto an external Hard Drive, but I want to "send them back from the external Hard Drive" but keep them on the external Hard Drive so I son't use up internal Hard Drive space. I thought there might be an easy way to do this? Can somebody tell me how to do this, or point me in the right direction?

Aug 10, 2009I have an extensive photo collection, around 50k images, mostly 3-5MB JPGs and around 1k 10MB+ RAWs. I have once tried to start managing them in iPhoto and attempted to import it on an old MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM. It was about 2 yrs ago on an old version of iLife. The performance was very bad - everything was extremely slow and I abandoned an idea at that time. Now I have MacPro with fast HDD and 10GB RAM and was wondering if I should try this again using iPhoto 09? Doe anyone manage that many images using iPhoto here? How is the experience?

Mac mail would open and I could compose a regular email.

Aug 4, 2008I just upgraded to iPhoto 8 and noticed the contents of the library where not stored in the 'pictures' folder on the 'home' folder as it was on previous versions. However the iPhoto file (in the 'pictures' folder that is) increases in size when photos are added.
Are all your photos embedded in that file?
If not how do you back up your iPhoto library? AND how do you access photos individually outside of the iPhoto app?
I didn't find the folder hierarchy very intuitive in previous versions but at least it was all there in folders in the primary 'pictures' folder.

Jan 26, 2009I need to invert (mirror) a bunch of scanned photos. I can easily do this using Preview but when I drag the edited photo back into iPhoto it changes back to the original photo. How can I keep the edited pic from changing back.

Feb 2, 2009I've upgraded to iLife 09 and ran into a problem with some jpg pictures that all came from the same source.
When I double-click on certain photos (all landscape view) to enlarge them, they expand out, and then go black. If I click on the "Name" button it recognizes faces behind the black but I can't see anything.
I've rebuilt the library and repaired permissions. It doesn't help to reimport the pictures or to rotate them around.

I created another iPhoto library on my external hard drive. With photos from 2007-2008 Deleted them from the main iPhoto. Then in 2008 I carbon copied my computer to the external hard drive. I ended up with 3 iPhoto libraries. I wanted to only have one on the external hard drive and today after not enough research I drug the iphoto icon on top of the one in the user folder on to the iphoto icon. The photos are not showing up in my iphoto library when I open the iphoto on the external HD. I do a rt click and open the iphoto package and the photos are all there with all information How do I get them to show up when I open the external hard drive or am I fried?

Dec 7, 2007In iPhoto 06, in the finder, if you went to the iphoto library folder, you could select the photos in the original or modified folders. I'm using iPhoto 08 on my iMac and I can't do that anymore. For example, when I'm in Photoshop/trying to upload a photo to a webpage and I want to open a photo thats in the iPhoto Libraries Original folder, it won't go any farther than the iPhoto Library, there's no arrow so I can't get to the different folders in the Library. When I click on show file in iPhoto, it will show this location, but other than that I can't get at it. I'm running the latest version, just checked to see if there were any updates and there wasn't. I've taken screen shots to try and explain. the second one is when I try to get at it through the finder and the first one is when I click on "Show File" on a photo in iPhoto.

Feb 18, 2009I recently discovered Bridge. Always had it, but never used it. I very much like that you can see all the information of a selected photo, and that you can sort photos on for example dimensions. It works faster than iPhoto too. The best thing though, is that you can make your own folder-structures.
That's the biggest disadvantage of iPhoto I think. Now I have hundreds (as a matter of speaking) events, which could be grouped to a a few dozens. For example: "Music" > "Concerts" > "Deep Purple" > "California Jam '74"
I know I can create (Smart) albums in iPhoto, but that merges everything into one. If I use my example again, if I would create an album "Music", there would be "California Jam '74" in it, but also an other concert from Deep Purple. And concerts of other bands. And other things related to music. And all of that merged into one huge 'event'.
Am I right or am I missing something?
But, iPhoto looks fantastic, the slideshows are superior, and those new Places and Faces are awesome. But that absence of a folder structure is killing me. If the events were just folder thumbnails...
I'm thinking, what if I do "don't import photos to iPhoto library", and make my own folder structures? That way I can use Bridge as it supposed to be, and if I want to show (off with) my photos I'll go to iPhoto and spend a minute finding the right event.
