Applications :: ONLY Send Emails I Don't Receive Any Emails?
Oct 2, 2009
I have an issue with my Apple Mail. I've configured my server's email on it. Now it works all fine when I setup a new account; I can easily send and receive emails.
However, after I quit the application, and reopen it, I can ONLY send emails! I don't receive any emails!
I can send emails, without any problems...but I can't RECEIVE any emails, at all. All of a sudden.
On the left bottom corner, I can see, receiving 1 of 4, and after 1 min, the bar is gone, and I cannot get any emails at all.
When I login to the webmail (abc.com/webmail for instance), I can find there're 4 emails sitting there "unread"
May I know what's the problem? and how to fix it? because I want to be able to receive the mails from MAIL instead of logging in to webmail all the time.
I am new to Mac so please bear with my incompetence. I have managed to find the plugin HTTPMail to add to Apple Mail in enable the use of my hotmail account in this software. Strangely, though, I cannot see any emails (i.e. it has not synchronised any of my folders/mails), I cannot receive any, BUT I have tried sending one and it actually worked. Would there be a step that I missed? I am on Leopard version 10.5.6., Mail version 3.5.
Why can I only receive emails and not send send them when away from home ( no problem sending and receiving at home ) .I have the same problem on my iphone 3gs as my Macbook pro.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I had an active @mac.com address and made a smooth transition to iCloud some months ago. My iCloud apple identity is my @mac.com address but since Sunday, I cannot send or receive emails with this address, only with my @me.com address. Same for iMac, iPhone and iPad.I have now spent two long phone calls with the apple help number. I then had a fast track on-line conversation with someone today for another hour to have it escalated to a senior advisor. They have tried to sort out the problem unsuccessfully - am sure they will have another go on Monday. In the meanwhile, is there anyone who has had the same problem before? I have tried changing my password on iCloud, deleting and reinstalling my iCloud on my iPhone but nothing has worked.
when trying to receive and send emails from mail app it says im offline, but im not. Also, says the yahoo.co.uk IMAP server [URL].. rejected the password for user. ive tried verifying but has not worked
I've been trying to set up a new email account using apple mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1) using mac osx version 10.4.11. My out going mail server is Sky. However,it is not a sky email address and i'm having real problems getting it to work. The account has been set up and i can recieve email but not send email. When i try to send an email i get the following message.
The server response was: 5.5.1 [URL]
or
The SMTP server smtp.tools.sky.com rejected the password for user Blah blah
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
I did this and clicked on ok but that box just reappears. I know that the password is correct.
I will try and be as clear as possible and I hope I posted on the right board. 1. I connect my MacBook air to email via WiFi at home. 2. When I do this I can send and receive emails using the mac email program 3. I can also connect to the internet as well.
Now the problem 1. When I am in a hotel say and connecting to the internet using a WiFi hotspot:- 2. I can surf the internet with no issues 3. But cannot seem to send or receive any emails.
I also have a similar problem with my IPhone except even at home I can't send any emails when WiFi is on but it receives with no issues. Again, using a WiFi hotspot I have the same issue. Turning off WiFi and switching to 3g or edge I can receive and send email.
I accidentally changed some settings in the mail program on a friends iMac for the iCloud account. Now he cannot send or receive any mails. How can I reset the good settings?
As of yesterday my Mac will no longer send or receive emails that have attachments on them. It doesn't matter the size or format of the attachment, nothing happens. It shows as Sent but it doesn't get to the recipient and I can't receive either.
I have only been able to receive email from my gmail account on the computer that "Gets" it first. I searched on the web, tried to put the "recent:" prefix in front of my MBP gmail address. However, it is still not working, email only goes to whichever computer downloads it first. Is there any other way?
I have been on Microsoft Exchange for 6 years. Migrated from PC to Mac about a year ago. I started using Microsoft Entourage 8 because it supported Microsoft Exchange Server.
I was working, although periodically Entourage would lock up and I would have to re-sync the inbox. After finally getting fed up, I've decided to move to Mac Mail.
After some initial pains to setup the Exchange account settings, I finally have it "working". The only problem is that not all my email messages are sent to the Mac Mail client.
If I'm online with my Mac when the email hits the Exchange Server, I get the message. But if Mac Mail is not open, I won't get the message. I can confirm that the email hits the exchange server because I can see it in Outlook Web Access, and on my BlackBerry.
The only way I know how to get the emails into Mac Mail is by going into my blackberry, marking the emails as read, or un-read, while the Mac Mail client is open. If I do that, then Mac Mail will discover that these messages are in my Inbox and pull them into the Mac Mail client.
This is very frustrating as I have to keep track of which emails I received when Mac Mail was closed. If I walk between meetings for 2 minutes and I receive an email, I'll miss it in my client.
I'm using Mac Mail version 3.6 (935/935.3), on Mac OS X - 10.5.7.
I'm not sure what version of Microsoft Exchange I'm on as that is managed by my company IT department.
I've been using Mail.app for quite a while now. I have two email accounts linked up to it, one being a gmail and the other my school email. The Gmail account is a POP server and everything works great. I can send/receive all my emails and its fine. My school email is an IMAP account and while I can receive emails I cannot send emails through the IMAP server unless I am at school. Is this an issue with my incoming and outgoing mail servers? I am assuming this is the problem but honestly I am not sure. I also have noticed Gmails new IMAP capability. Would this possibly benefit me? Could I forward my IMAP account to Gmail and then use Gmails server to send emails through my school account.
From Mail (I'm running Leopard), I want to be able to send emails with a logo on them, at the bottom of the email. What I don't want is for the logo to show up as an attachment. How do I do this (in layman's terms please - I've tried sourcing this from various sources and it's Terminal this, HTML that - it has to be relatively simple, hasn't it?)
I have been using for outlook 2011 without any dramas until yesterday when i got a new mobile broadband ISP (Telstra). I can receive emails fine but when I try to send any I get the following error:
"Outlook cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network."
I would like to set up a single/separate contact group in Address book with 4 email addresses. I want to send a copy of attachments in 1 email to all 4 addresses at the same time, by typing in only the contact group. I know I can do this by creating 4 different contacts in that contact group, BUT can I set it up so I have only 1 contact in that group with the 4 email addresses listed in that 1 contact and have the attachments sent to all 4 emails without having to create 4 separate and distinct addresses. Does that make any sense??
I want to use these addresses to function as "flash drives" to save attachments.
I have the weirdest problems. Every once and a while when I receive a new email, the text of the email is from a year prior. It is the weirdest thing. Anyone know what the deal is and how to fix this?
I started my Mac mail application today (set to connect to my gmail accounts through IMAP), and all my mail that was in my inbox is GONE. I don't know if my gmail accounts were hacked or if their implementation of "Priority Inbox" just trashed all my messages older than 35 days. I've changed my password and disabled Priority Inbox. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can recover my e-mails?
I have been suffering from this issue with Mail for a long time, and I have finally decided to attempt to seek out a resolution. I have noticed that since I began using MobileMe, Mail has taken an extraordinarily long time to send emails. It takes at least a minute to send around 5 lines of text, which seems rather excessive. I have noticed this on Leopard (10.5.8) and Snow Leopard (10.6.1).
When I send emails from my MobileMe account on my iPhone, it takes seconds, so I haven't noticed any similar issues there. I opened up the connection doctor in Mail and found that it took a long time to report a successful connection to both MobileMe and the MobileMe smtp server. I allowed Snow Leopard to automatically set up my mail account, so I don't believe that it is an issue with settings. Has anyone experienced something similar, and is there a fix I could try?
