View 5 RepliesDoes anyone know of any 3rd party add-ons for OS X that allow you to 'snap' or align any on-screen window to the other windows? I'm looking for a system-wide add-on so I can use this feature across all my apps, collectively aligning their window edges together to try and keep things tidy.

I really thought this was the only feature windows 7 had over OSX. No more
I confess, Windows 7 is a good OS, even though 90% of its "features" you could find hidden in either WinXP or Vista, but the usability feature for me that fits in this 10% "new features" category was definitely Aero Snap and up to date there was no 1:1 Mac solution. Now I was extatic to download that handy Cinch tool fro And yes, in my opinion it looks even more elegant and feels more natural on Mac OS X than Windows but that is my highly biased opinion.

wondering if there is an app, or a way, or using something similar to Aero Snap in Windows 7 on Snow Leopard? It's a feature of 7 I really like, I use it constantly. Other than writing some Applescript, can anyone think of something that lets me do it?

I have downloaded about 3 different instant messengers:
- Mercury Messenger
- aMSN
- Microsoft Messenger (newest version)
These all claim to have the ability of video chat and using the webcam, however, none so far have done so and every time I have tried it has failed or cancelled and can't connect.
I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong, I have gone through all the preferences and sorted everything that I think is right.
Is there such feature when comparing 2 documentation Like Win 7? I think it's called Aero Snap. Here is a youtube link. Look at 2:30.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust out of the box last night. Starts up and the hard drive 500GB is making tons of noise. Sounds like the arm is smacking back and forth, grinding sounds, and electronic like sounds. After twenty minutes or so it died down. I rebooted. The entire time Spotlight was indexing it was loud and noisy. Once completed it was nice and quiet again. I moved some things around and it got noisy, at that point I just went to bed. This afternoon I ran all the updates, it went back to noisy all over again. In my opinion the HDD is most likely no good, or will be no good sometime soon. I've got an Apple Store about 10 minutes away, is this worth making an appointment or will they just give me 'it boots and runs, what can we do until it dies'?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows vista using going through parallels because my bootcamp failed a while ago. This partition also acts as my bootcamp. Well The internet on parallels works fine because it is using osx network, but when i boot into bootcamp the network drivers seem to be missing. I cant figure it out, but it says the ethernet and network drivers are not there. I cant find the drivers on the internet anywhere and when i use the vista disk i have it still does not want to install them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith OS X, I always find it annoying that windows can still me moved when maximized. I don't see the point of this since 99% of the problem this causes is that my windows are offset by 2-5 pixels (which I then have to zoom, then re-zoom to maximize the window again). Why can't we have snapping to window edges? Many programs already do this, and they don't detract from the design purity of OS X (unlike Windows 7 which does this over the top and fugly screen edge animation). A slight nudge when your window hits 2-4pxs off the side of the screen would suffice. A center line should exist too, since I find myself using my screen very much so half and half - it is very annoying to get the windows to be half and half equally.

I'm refering to my music catalogue and in the view as "album list" and sorted by artist. Anyone else have this issue? I really liked being able to snap to a point when looking for artists and radio station links.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy ibook G4 (running leopard) has a battery that seems to drop from around 75% to the computer shutting down completely (ncluding loss of prefered wifi network) in literally the blink of an eye, with no warning. I have calibrated it. I tried running coconut battery to see its vitals and the program tells me crazy things like it can charge to 12666mAh which we all know is impossible. Any ideas at all? The apple info says it has around 206 cycles on it total. Do I need to just cough up and buy a new battery? I'm hoping not as I just got the computer used through the marketplace and the guy before said he was getting 2-3 hours still.

We'll after a mamouth effort today which had me thinking that I'd bricked my Mac, I've finally got Windows 7 installing throught using refit, bootcamp didn't want to work with my external dvd drive.
Where do I get the native bootcamp drivers to ensure my mac works properly in Windows mode? Are they on the Snow Leopard disk ? I recall in the past in the past that bootcamp used to make the drivers for you and burn them onto a CD but wasn't able to get past the partition stage, so don't know what the process is?
The graphics driver is the most important, I'm using one of the intel core duo original imacs, so I think its ATI.
Also any ideas where I can obtain a osx tool for managing partitions, I was showing about 5 partitions on the windows install, so would like to clean things up a little?
I have a 17" MB PRO bought august 2010 8gb ram 7200rpm HD
The game I want to run actually runs better on 4gb ram (acording to the geeks who know everything about it) but as we all know the graphics card is not really up to par for gaming.
(I KNOW THAT MAC BOOKS ARE NOT MEANT FOR GAMING, but I don't listen well ) i also know that the graphics card is built in and uses shared memory. I know on a PC Lap Top (with built in chips) in bios settings you can allocate more or less normal ram, as a overflow for when your graphics card is over loaded.
I am wondering if there is such a feature for bootcamp windows on a mac book? I would like to bring it up to 4Gb shared. If its not possible please dont flame me, i am not really knowledgeable with all the technical stuff and you only learn from asking.
Lately I've noticed a loud popping noise when I adjust the tilt angle on my screen. The noise comes from the right side of the screen and is very loud. This happens when the screen angle has been stationary for a few minutes. I went to the Apple Store today and the genius told me it was normal.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2011) is making a loud click, or snapping noise whenever the clamshell is closed, or moved a little sometimes. It's becoming very persistant and doesn't seem normal. Most of the time it does make the noise (which is from the back right). I'm taking it in tomorrow under warranty. Any suggestions? Is this normal? The screen also moves smoothly and is always in place. It's all strange and hopefully they can replace the hinge.

I've been using my macbook for a few months right now, and primarily use it for recording me and my band-mates on Logic express, but now, I've not been able to use my iSight on my mac. I don't know what's wrong with it, because I've always been able to take photos with friends in Photo Booth and take movies with it as well. Up till now that is. A few days ago I tried to open up Photo Booth and snap a picture, but all I got was a blank screen. The program would count down, but the screen would just be white instead of showing what it would take. The little green light next to it would go on as well, but it wouldn't take a picture, and nothing is blocking the screen either.
