Is there any way to align safari to the left side of the screen when it opens up? My iChat opens up aligned to the right so I was just wondering if there is a way for safari to do the same.

I've been using the new beta for the last week or so and it seems like the websites that appear in the top sites section are almost entirely random ones selected from my history. Some pages that i've visited once for only minutes appear right at the front of the list. I am failing to see any pattern based on popularity.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRationally, I think I like the blue bar because when a page finishes to load, the whole address bar turns from blue to white, a very noticeable signal. I often start reading while the page loads, so the blue-to-white "flash" is easily registered by my peripheral vision.
Safari 4's purple/gray rectangle was much harder to notice, causing me to shift my focus between the content and the address bar. Now, I can concentrate on the content and let my peripheral vision tell me when the loading is done. Much more relaxing.
Safari extension to enable full screen browsing? I tried to look for one, but couldn't find anything. This seems like it would be the perfect application of Safari extensions.
Is there an app for alignment of machines?

Historically I have had two matched monitors. I maintained two wallpaper folders, one for the left monitor and one for the right. My wallpaper cycled randomly taking pictures from the appropriate folders for the respective side once a day. I didn't use any add-ons, it was just the basic Desktop pane. It was perfect. Recently I purchased a lovely new monitor and decommissioned one of the old ones. The new monitor is widescreen so I made a third wallpaper folder for that one and set everything up to match the way it was before. Every day when the wallpaper refreshes, both monitors now pull from the same folder. I have deleted all but the widescreen folder from the list in System Preferences for the widescreen monitor and it still somehow keeps pulling its pictures from the same place as the remaining old monitor.
If I go into System Preferences, it shows that it's pointing at the widescreen folder correctly and manually clicking random on and off again to reselect a new wallpaper will pull it from the correct place. It's just when it's automatic that it screws up. I'm not sure I've explained this well, but the result is that I have to manually set the widescreen monitor's desktop picture each time or enjoy a horribly stretched image with the wrong alignment. In the long term I will replace the other old one so this won't be a problem (I'll just delete the wretched old folders entirely), but why is OSX going bonkers in this way when it's never had the problem. I could just decide on one static image until it's fixed but I like an element of chaos in my computing, just not a stretched image.
I cannot change the default vertical alignment in Word to 0. it is set at 6 and every time I open a new Word doc I have to manually select all text and change.

I did not do any specific tweak to the PDF or to Preview before facing this behaviour

I have already restored (via time machine)my entire Library twice with no effect. Other users on this iMac G5 can run Safari with no problem. This appears to be some form of intentional lock out... Somewhat like a parent lock, but parental controls are not being used. In addition, this is the only admin account (I'm the primary user) so I don't make a habit of telling myself I can't use an application. Bottom line: When I invoke Safari, the URL never changes and I am stuck with the spinning colorwheel and an empty white Safari screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Tiger and started using Safari 3.1.1. It was working great for a few weeks until I installed a 3rd party add-on. Safari now crashes upon startup within about 7 seconds. I removed all files that this add-on had installed and I tried re-installing Safari 3 and even tried to install Safari 2 to see if that would work, but no go. If I click on anything it will start beachballng until it crashes. I was wondering if someone could give me a list of all the files that have anything to do directly with Safari so that I can delete them all and reinstall. Also, if there is anyone who would be willing to look at a crash report for me to try to figure out what is wrong.

Safari keeps reloading pages and then eventually shows "can't view webpage" I tried installing firefox, but it just crashers when i try going to websites. In the past couple of days I cannot open any windows in Safari. When I start the program up, I get the toolbar only. Nothing I do lets me open up a window. I even have to force quit the application sometimes to get it to close. I have reinstalled the program, removed the preferences, run Disk Warrior and Disk Utility with no luck. As a result, I have to use Firefox to do my browsing.Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix for this?

I upgraded Safari as recommended a few days ago, and since then, Safari has not worked at all. At the same time, I was warned that my startup disk was full. Following the advice from some other mac help sites, I cleared the copies of my iTunes library to free space. I now have 6.72 Gigs of free space on my hard drive, but my computer is still running super slow. Just about every other thing I click on in Firefox gives me the rainbow wheel.
I ran Techtools and everything passed but the Directory Scan and Volume Structure.
As soon as a friend can loan me a hard drive, I was planning on backing up everything and re-installing. Is this the best thing to do, or is there something else to try first?
I run OSX 10.4.11 on a G5 and quite often when I start up the text is fragmented in both applications and menus. In Safari the address has random letters missing. Everything runs OK I'm just worried something more serious is wrong.
From what I heard, Apple considers the user InputManagers directory to be a security risk. This is the mechanism by which plugins were installed for Safari.

But tiday I wanted to open a new Safari window and saw that the menu bar was empty except for the Apple, and that doesn't respond.
