i was typing some stuff on my computer and started slamming keys and this window popped up (see attached). Anyway, i'm pretty sure the key combo is shift+fn+control+command+s.
View 8 RepliesI cannot log in to my iphone, ipad or Apple mail with my google credentials. I made sure everything was being typed in correctly. The weird thing is, I am able to log in using [URL]website.
I don't know why I am not able to check my email unless I use the website. I tried clearing the captcha and even changing my password in gmail.
Can anyone tell me why this would come out of nowhere? I have not changed any settings on any of my devices or even though gmail. What's going on?

Need a good zip program for mac. One to make zip files not extract them. And don't say snow leopard already has that built in. That's garbage cuz it makes that extra useless OS_X folder and that's not needed at all. Plus it never works when say making themes for SMF. They never upload correctly. I know cuz it does on my moms windows 7. Already tried YemuZIP for mac. No good either. And if I manually upload the files it works fine. So it has to be the zip program. Any others besides mac or yemu good for making zip files. Preferably free.

it is taking an eternity... really.
time machine took 36 hours and only did 1TB. of data (no program or other files)
Carbon Copy Cloner so far has taken over 25 hours and not even done 900 GB yet... (though it is making a bootable copy of everything even system and apps.)
Ive downloaded a bunch, but couldnt find one that fit my needs.
So on microsoft paint, you have the ability to set specific margins when printing, fit to page, center, etc... as well as change printer, paper type, and ink settings for optimal quality..
however i couldnt find one thus far to use on my mac.. closest ive downloaded has been google's picasa but there are only preset margins and nothing regarding print quality, etc
so i need a program with these capabilities..it doesnt need to be a good photo editor... i just need to open existing photos and be able to adjust print margins/ quality myself
The file extension is exactly that, .igs. I can't get it to open using anything, nor can I find very much information on what programs even deal with it. I see alot of stuff about .iges.
These files were created about 6 years ago. I've tried TurboCad demo, eDrawings demo, TouchCad demo. Nothing works. All say unsupported file.

It seems like iweb adds on the extra extentension on the end. I also notice that Iweb when you save the program to a server the site takes forever to load and I think it has something to do with the size of the file or site. not sure.
What I like about Iweb is the drag and drop feature with text box and so on. Is there a program out there where I am not paying a monthly service charge to use a program that is loaded on a server? I understand I have hosting fees by the way.
So any programs out there that are mac friendly and has a user friendly interface?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm switching from a PC to a Mac. I have a PC utility called "My Function Keys" that allows me to "program" the function keys to do a combination of keystrokes. For example, I can set up F9 to do a copy and F10 to do a paste, so I don't have to do the Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V, or I can set up F2 to type my address, etc. Is there a similar utility for the Mac? I did find some information at this link: [URL]. Which states: iBook: How Programmable Function Keys Work. This article describes the programmable function key operation for iBook and the PowerBook (FireWire) computers. The programmable function keys were created to help simplify common, everyday tasks performed on the computer.
You can use these keys to open a browser, an email application, or any other frequently used application or server by pressing a single key. To set up a programmable function key, open the Keyboard control panel. Or, if the keys have not been programmed yet, simply pressing one of them brings up a dialog box that leads you to the Keyboard control panel. Apple has preprogrammed F1 through F6 with such common control functions as screen brightness, speaker volume, and so on. F7 through F12 can be programmed for your personal choices. To help you identify what the function keys were programmed to do, Apple includes with iBook a variety of durable stickers with preselected icons. Once the keys are programmed, you can select the stickers that will best remind you of the assigned functions.

The following is rather convoluted but I don't know how to explain my rather odd problem adequately in a simpler way.
So I chose this mouse largely because it have the programable buttons, and I programed the two buttons on the side by my thumb to be the command button, so I can therefore open things in a new tab when surfing the wet without having to have a hand on the key board the whole time.
Here's where the problem arises.
It has the ability to program to keys to the one button. i.e. command and s (with this combo you can quickly save things).
I don't want the second button programed, so I left it blank, but now whenever I click the button the whole page I'm viewing gets highlighted for some reason. If I click the link I wanted, it opens in a new tab, no hassle. The the original tab is highlighted blue, and I then have to a regular mouse click to get rid of it.
Now I know it's not much to do a regular mouse click, but I shouldn't have to. Also it's distracting having the whole page turn blue every-time.
My macbook keys and trackpad unresponsive at login. This all happened when I used a automator online to patch leopard so i can enter dfu mode with my touch at first everything was fine until restart. I cant login at all unless I put in leopard CD and format it and I will but I need to backup my itunes etc.

On two of my computers (iMac and Mac Mini -- both recent and both running Lion), the login screen often gets stuck. I click the user to login or start typing a password and the computer just stops responding. The only thing that fixes it is raising and/or lowering the volume (in either order, but it's the volume that does it). Once the volume is changed, the system goes back to normal and the letters I typed appear (or rather dots do -- this is the password field after all). Very occasionally it will get stuck twice during the same login.Â
This is obviously a huge issue logging in remotely because I can't get the volume keys to work via screen sharing (or at least I don't know how to).Â
This happened almost immediately upon setting up the systems, so I don't think there's a third party app issue at play.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to MAC OS X (Snow Leopard) and Unix. I need to run my remote control software upon system start-up before user login. I know how to set a program to run AFTER a user logs in but this doesn't do me any good. For example: Right now I am using LogMeIn Remote Control Software. When I boot OS X the LogMeIn software is already running in the background at the user login screen before any user has even logged in.
I want to stop using LogMeIn and switch to TeamViewer but the TeamViewer software only runs after I have logged in. I need it to run at the user login screen before I have actually logged in so that when I reboot my computer or switch back and forth from Windows XP I can login remotely, just like with LogMeIn. With LogMeIn after a re-boot I the user login & password screen is sitting there waiting for me (or any user) to login. Is what I want to do even possible?
I am still a little new to OS X. I have had a couple older macs to get me transitioned over and now I am using one full time. But there are a few shortcuts that I love for windows and I would like to know if the equivalent is available on my mac.
1. When I highlight something on my vista machine in a browser and click search in Google it opens in a new tab. Is this possible on my mac. I have not tried Firefox on it and that is what I use in windows, but does it work there or is there a way to get it to open in a new tab in safari?
2. When I click a link on my windows machine in my e-mail it opens in a new tab and not another window. Can i make this happen on my mac in Safari?
3. Last one. On my windows machine I hit control enter after typing the address in the address bar and it throws in the www. and the .com/.net Is there a replacement shortcut in OS X?
Is there a way to do this? (I got an ergonomic Microsoft keyboard.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI own Warcraft 3 TFT and use a Macbook Pro 13.3" which does not have a numpad. A numpad is very useful for Warcraft 3 TFT and would like to somehow simulate one, since I don't have a full keyboard. I was wanting to know what my options are for doing that. I downloaded KeyRemap4Macbook, but I did not see an option to for what I want. I would like to be able to have 1-0 be recognized in warcraft as numkeys without it affecting outside of game. What I was hoping is if I could turn ~ key into like a Caps Lock. So like if I press Shift+~ it changes 1-0 keys at top to a numpad and if I press it again it changes them back to normal function. Or if I could just bypass all that and just have them recognized as numbers when I type in the game and numpad when I do not have chat dialog box open.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Mac started doing this a few weeks ago, where after login it all kind of collapses. Sometimes the desktop icons won't show up, or Hear (which runs on startup) will get stuck loading for a long time. Sometimes everything seems fine but no programs will launch, or the dock won't respond. So far I've done an Onyx cleanup run, a Disk Verify and Repair. Permissions Verify and Repair and even did the good old Command+R on startup and reinstalled Lion. It worked the first time and then it went back to its old antics. I'm afraid if its a corrupted file and even if I get a new Mac then when I restore from Time Machine it'll carry over.
