i have a windows machine at work running VNC and i want to connect to it with my MAC. is there a VNC client i can use? as the VNC client that the windows machine isnt on mac. i can change the VNC clint on the windows Machine if needed just woundering is there a VNC Cleint that will work for viewing windows and mac machines?

I would love to replace the beast of an external drive I have with this beautiful piece of work. I don't use the external a lot but enough I want one around. At the same time anyone figure out how to make the GUI interface of remote disk work with other machines? I know there is way to remote disk anything and have done it before but the GUI they added to this service is beatiful for the MBA. I would love to be able to use either of these things with out the MBA.

- I have a MBP that I bring to work with me on a regular basis.
- I have a Sony Vaio + A Desktop both running Windows XP at my home office.
Question: Is it possible to control my Windows machines at home with my MBP while at work (two different places) via VNC?
'd like to run Win 7 on virtualization software, but not sure of the best way to back up, as I've been reading a lot about how Time Machine (unless you configure it not to) will save the VM folder as one large file, which of course could make the back up tens of GBs and bloat a drive quickly. I'm planning to connect an external HDD partitioned for both Time Machine (for incremental backups) and Superduper(for more easily bootable restore).
VMware Fusion (for instance) recommends backing up within the VM itself. But this alone doesn't seem like a good strategy for catastrophic failure of a HDD.
I'm the only mac user on a network full of windows machines (Mostly windows 7 but one with XP) but I cannot see a single one on my iMac running 10.6.2. I found a guide on here about changing settings on your windows 7 box, which I followed but I still cannot see the machine on my network. Nor can any windows machines see my iMac on them.
I think it might be a port issue, are there any ports which I need to open on my router? I have an O2 Wireless Box III (A rebranded thompson router)
I am trying to send two images as attachments to a user on a Windows machine. The attachments are appearing in-line in the body of the email and do not show as attachments on Windows. I am attaching the 2 images by clicking the paper clip on the new mail message and browsing to the image location to select them. I am selecting both images and they appear in-line in my outgoing message and as attachments. I have checked the 'Send Windows Friendly' box. The Windows recipient can only see the in-line images.

I've got Win7 pro and XP Pro as virtual machines. No bootcamp. I'd love to copy certain chunks of large data straight across when both virtual machines are running but don't see a way to do it without using a USB drive, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new folder and the same again, it shows 2 different folders in 2 different windows. Id like to see only 1 folder, previous folder would be replaced with the new folder. Im awared that there is an option to choose either you want the folder to be replaced or to show all folders in a new window. That setting isn't working for me for some reason. Anyone here with similar problem? What's the solution?

Has anybody found out if the iWork '08 (or earlier comparable) EULA allows one user to install iWork on two Macs, if s/he's the only user of those (like Adobe and others allow to a certain degree: One desktop and one laptop where the license holder are the main user on both).
iWork '08 is sold as a single user license, so I could just assume that I'm allowed, and get one for the (no-yet-bought) work machine and also install it on my home machine, but I'm actually a bit curious if it would be in violation of the EULA...
Now, I know there's a family pack, but that specifically states that "This license does not extend [...] to business or commercial users." And I'm definitively gonna use the work machine for business purposes and I would never get iWork for just private use, which leaves me with the single user license.
I've saved some digital photos onto CD on my PC. I'd like to view them on my old Mac Performa 5200.
When I try and open a photo Quick Time Picture Viewer 3.0 launches, and I get the message "couldn't display because corrupted".
is it possible to network 2x virtual machines (on the same box; a Mac Pro) using any of the available VM suites out there (vmware or parallels, etc)? I'm developing/QAing client/server apps, and it would suck if i have to purchase more machines when I have 8x cores and 16GB of RAM available at my disposal on my MP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since our design studio upgraded to InDesign CS4, some of our machines are now VERY slow to open documents (it takes documents approx. 7�13 times longer to open). Also, just using InDesign seems much slower than CS3 (like dragging things, typing, etc.).
The funny thing is this problem only seems to affect our designers who have PowerPC G5 Macs � not the ones with Intel Macs. I realise CS4 will be optimised for Intel machines, but surely it shouldn't be this much slower on G5s?
I installed Windows 7 on a Mac mini, 4 GB ram, with a 2GHz intel core 2 duo processor. I set up the partition, formatted it (The size was around 35 gb) and installed windows. I got on, and tried to play games (The reason for windows) but none of them will start.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently had a High Resolution IP Camera set up at a offsite location. The company that set it up gave me an IP addresss to log in to see the pictures streaming. The problem is the address only works with Interent Explorer. Is there anyway to emulate IE without installing windows, or run a similar program to view the image. I'm looking NOT to buy extra software. It does not work with Safari or Firefox. I also tried Firefox on a windows machine and it did not work.

I live in a sketchy area of Atlanta, and I'm a pilot so I'm gone about half the month. I had a CCTV system installed with an internet ready DVR. But, like most DVRs - I need ActiveX to be able to use it from remote locations.
Now - I have two macs, an iMac G4 PowerPC with the 17in swivel monitor, and a MBP. I normally carry the MBP to work with me, but I ordered an iPad 3G which I will be carrying from here on out.
I want to get IE with ActiveX on the iMac G4 and then uses an app such as LogMeIn on the iPad to access my DVR (through the iMac) when I'm out of town. How I do this is beyond me, and it makes it more complicated since it's not an intel based Mac.
I just had one of those mac moments (i.e. that's so awesome!!!!) with iPhoto as I loaded some of my recently taken photos and videos up. I also checked Front Row, and it's awesome that it can view the pictures as slide shows and all, but I can't find how to view the videos located in iPhoto via Front Row.

I hate the fact that I open a folder containing pictures (which aren't imported to iPhoto), and i have to select all the photos in order for them to be viewable in the same window in Preview. I know I know, im lazy, but seriously, you don't need to have that extra step in order to be able to scroll through the pictures. On Windows you just double click the picture and then all you have to do is click left or right to view the next photo in the folder. Is there any program strictly for viewing photos like preview?

I would like to be able to buy from Amazon video, tv shows or movies and then import then to itunes. Amazon video will keep your purchases online and you can download and view when you want. Is there a way to import these type of purchase into itunes so can view on apple tv or iphone? If not amazon video, is there another opton that has an online library/storage system and allow downloads to be imported into itunes when needed ?

I've imported all bookmarks and everything, but the problem I'm having is viewing the Facebook home page in Safari. It only shows each news feed items as long as their profile icon. So most posts are cut off. How can I get the page to show each post fully? Most pictures are video thumbnails are all cut off.

Upon opening iMovie I was thrown for a loop by the way editing is done. It's completely different. I'm guessing some are saying "welcome to a few versions ago" but I'm looking at little bubbles for clips across multiple lines with colored backgrounds to indicate audio clips. I'm used to seeing video & audio clips stacked on top of each other at the bottom of the display and moving around with the playhead to make adjustments, fade audio in & out, etc. but none of this seems obvious with the new tools. Is there anyway to change the presentation of iMovie '09 so that I can edit in the old manner?
