Applications :: Viewing Unprotected Blu Ray Video?

Mar 15, 2010

I just installed a Blu-Ray burner this weekend and authored some Blu-Rays discs from some of my home movies. Anyway, they play fine on the TV but how do I play them on the Mac? (I couldn't get the MakeMKV/VLC solution to work.)

Applications :: Speeding Up Video 1.5x For IPod Viewing

May 5, 2010

Wanting to watch video lectures on my iPod at 1.5-2x speed. It's great on my laptop w/QT, but impossible on the iPod. So, I need to take the original video, speed it up (shorten it), and save it for viewing on the iPod - is there functionality in QT Pro or iMovie. If not, a preferably free third party app?

OS X :: Viewing Partially Overwritten Video File

May 10, 2009

I've got a video file which was deleted and partially overwritten by other files. It's about 100MB but there's only ~2MB or so that's been overwritten. Data Rescue 2 didn't recover it, but testdisk did (testdisk seems to be able to recover files that are partially overwritten, so the headers of the file must be intact.) Now that I've recovered the movie, it won't play. Is there any software out there that can play corrupted video files? Is there any way of recovering parts of the video file?

IMac (Intel) :: Turn Unprotected DVD Into MP4 Movie

Sep 7, 2014

I have a DVD with an unprotected 'home movie' on it (my daughter's camp musical).  I want to import it to my mac and convert it into an mp4 movie.  I intend to do two things with it:  Upload it to my SMUGMUG account so others can view it and save it to my movies folder for future viewing.  I may even wish to burn it to another DVD.

Info:
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

I recently had a High Resolution IP Camera set up at a offsite location. The company that set it up gave me an IP addresss to log in to see the pictures streaming. The problem is the address only works with Interent Explorer. Is there anyway to emulate IE without installing windows, or run a similar program to view the image. I'm looking NOT to buy extra software. It does not work with Safari or Firefox. I also tried Firefox on a windows machine and it did not work.

Applications :: .mht - Viewing / Converting In Mac OS X

I have hundreds of .mht (single-file webarchieve) files I saved from Internet Explorer. How can I view them (better yet, batch convert them to Safari's webarchive) on Mac with opensource or free software? I got Opera to open them, but the formatting is bad. There are so many that going back to the actual pages would be too time consuming.

Applications :: Viewing CCTV Cameras With IE?

Apr 24, 2010

I think this is the correct place to put this.... but here it goes.

I live in a sketchy area of Atlanta, and I'm a pilot so I'm gone about half the month. I had a CCTV system installed with an internet ready DVR. But, like most DVRs - I need ActiveX to be able to use it from remote locations.

Now - I have two macs, an iMac G4 PowerPC with the 17in swivel monitor, and a MBP. I normally carry the MBP to work with me, but I ordered an iPad 3G which I will be carrying from here on out.

I want to get IE with ActiveX on the iMac G4 and then uses an app such as LogMeIn on the iPad to access my DVR (through the iMac) when I'm out of town. How I do this is beyond me, and it makes it more complicated since it's not an intel based Mac.

Applications :: Photo Viewing Program Like Preview?

Nov 15, 2007

This is probably fixed in Leopard, but I still run Tiger so I was hoping someone could point me towards an alternative to Preview? I hate the fact that I open a folder containing pictures (which aren't imported to iPhoto), and i have to select all the photos in order for them to be viewable in the same window in Preview. I know I know, im lazy, but seriously, you don't need to have that extra step in order to be able to scroll through the pictures. On Windows you just double click the picture and then all you have to do is click left or right to view the next photo in the folder. Is there any program strictly for viewing photos like preview?

Applications :: IMovie - Viewing Along A Time Line?

Apr 20, 2010

I have a new toy (MBP i7 15" Hi-Res Matte) and it came with Snow Leopard installed. I'm coming from a Mac Mini with Tiger installed. Upon opening iMovie I was thrown for a loop by the way editing is done. It's completely different. I'm guessing some are saying "welcome to a few versions ago" but I'm looking at little bubbles for clips across multiple lines with colored backgrounds to indicate audio clips. I'm used to seeing video & audio clips stacked on top of each other at the bottom of the display and moving around with the playhead to make adjustments, fade audio in & out, etc. but none of this seems obvious with the new tools. Is there anyway to change the presentation of iMovie '09 so that I can edit in the old manner?

Applications :: Download Embedded Flash Video From Website /download Original Video

Mar 2, 2010

Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)

But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.

There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.

As soon as I click on the screen it disappears. So the application is open and the options bar appears across the top of the screen, but I'm unable to view it normally.
